ten Hag meeting Phil Jones

I was gonna say

"I'll take over from here nurse....."

"AAAAAAAAAH......AAAAAAAAH"

What a moment.

Expect Ralf's brother to have an Instagram post attacking the club for not allowing him a farewell game now. What a mess.

Just need the fans to get behind him and finally stop backing the players over the manager. These players have let down enough managers. Give him as much time as we gave Ole with the same funds, we'll be enjoying ourselves.

With Ralf in his Consultancy role and ETH in the dugout I'm quite optimistic. Bring on next season.

EtH is a very detailed and meticulous manager. You only have one first chance to make sure everything is done to your exact detail.

This isn't going to be the time for EtH to start the tear down while building up, in person with the squad. The guy has never even been to Carrington, let alone OT as manager.

Understanding how EtH works, it would be against himself to just walk into the situation without proper preparation, understanding, and detail. He also needs clarity and trust from the players at his selection. That isn't going to get done in a matter of days when the players have been checked out for weeks now.

Really getting acquainted with the things on the ground floor, behind the scenes a bit, starts tomorrow and that's a huge learning curve. And if McClaren is going to join his staff, then he'll need and want him to be part of it when it all really kicks off.

Man, these players are in for a brutal awakening the way Ten Hag is going about it. I hope he really makes them report 2 weeks earlier. Wonder how impressed they are going to be then?

Bit harsh… think people are judging rangnick way to harshly. It hasn’t worked out for him and he hasn’t done what he wanted to do but I don’t think many other temporary managers would of. Rangnick is best at building teams and working behind the scenes at clubs. Which is the reason he went into that after management and the reason for our owners hiring him was to keep him on in a consultancy role. 95% of fans wanted rangnick to take over until the end of the season and then move upstairs. I don’t think any other caretaker choice would of exposed the club as much as rangnick as… he’s called out every problem within the club since he’s been here. He knows where the problems lie and he’ll work very hard next season to sort them out. There’s no denying that when it comes to football he definitely knows what he’s talking about unlike people like OGS who never ever talked about tactics etc in press conferences. Ten Hag is going to need some help when he starts next season and there’s no better person then rangnick to help him since he knows what we need to succeed having been there for halve a season.
Nah he is all talk and no action. I am so sick of him blaming everyone and everything in public but himself. I haven’t even been in his thread now for ages as it’s so predictable what comes out of his mouth on a daily basis. Hopefully his press conferences around the Palace game will be his last for United in any role. I am sure he will enjoy all the attention in his last press conference and act again as if he himself was some trophy winning machine. I just can’t take this clown seriously any longer.

EtH is going to go on holiday soon, as well.
No he cancelled it.

No he didn't.
“Tomorrow there will be a party with the staff, but I'm not going to Curaçao," said Ten Hag, who will be working for his new employer Manchester United. 'I think that's understandable. There is a lot of work to do there. That is the case with every club. A number of things still need to be organized in the staff and also in the selection. We will be working intensively on this from tomorrow.'

Ten Hag still has holiday plans. 'Time management is also important. It was also a tough season. Charging the battery is necessary.'

The original club statement when it was first announced did state he would begin the job end of the season.

The Guardian have changed the title now: "Erik ten Hag due in Manchester on Monday to bed in for Old Trafford job".

The first one about him taking charge for the Palace game was obviously bollocks.

Obviously. It would make no sense if he did.

Very misleading title. The article says nothing. Is it deleted now?
The part in the article that said Palace would be his first game in charge has been deleted. No chance that happens. Ralf will still be in charge for that game.

Predictable. As someone said, everyone is ETH-in, until he starts picking players they don't personally like.

I swear United fans can be so toxic sometimes.

Yes, that was a 100% serious post. Totally.

Elanga is like 12, of course he can improve him.

Bruno has been one of the best players in the league for long spells of his time here.

Disagreed. Bruno needs to be playing for Boavista.

Look at his own words. He's going to Old Trafford to "organise the staff and also the selection".

Basically, he'll be there to talk to the coaches and to give Murtough a transfer wish list.

Then he'll be jetting off on holiday for a a few weeks before picking things up again on his return. There's no mention of him leading the team against Palace.

It was reported by someone a while ago that ETH planned to start work immediately to get the planning and organisation meetings done, then take a short holiday after a few few weeks once those wheels were in motion.

His words were he's got a lot of things to deal with. Think it'll be more than transfers. He's certainly not managing the club but there's probably a lot to iron out.

Romano in the guardian piece above said Crystal palace would be his first game, now he's saying its going to be Ralf seeing out the season? Which is it?!
Romano didn't say that in fairness. Guardian tweeted out the article with a clickbait headline.

I'm glad he's getting a start on it now. It's vital to try to get things under control to some extent before going on holiday. Moyes thought he could take his usual holiday and start as manager in mid-June without any real preparations. This led to the awful transfer window where the dithered over multiple players ending with signing Fellaini. It helps that Woodward won't be involved either.

I'd be worried if he didn't take a holiday he had a tough campaign with Ajax.

I think his right. It will be Rangnick.

I was inclined to agree. Expectation being this week he observed and got his metaphorical house in order in preparation but that Guardian article makes it sound pretty clear he’s taking charge immediately.

So you think McFred, AWB, Maguire, Telles are suited to play his football? Or that we can replace them on the cheap?

If we have a net budget of 140m and no decent CM then I would be very surprised if he signs a new expensive keeper. Henderson is decent coming off his line but a dodgy keeper.
Not really, no, AWB & Telles certainly not - but they aren't first choice anyway (Dalot, still no btw, definitely need a right back), Maguire and Fred probably, yes, even McTominay as a squad player I could see him using. But it was the goalkeeper I bolded because that's where so many of our problems begin. DDG is so far detached from everything Ten Hag uses in a goalkeeper it's a joke, he doesn't leave his line which means the team physically cannot push up the pitch and his distribution is appalling. You say "expensive keeper", why does it need to be an expensive goalkeeper? I'm not getting into the statistics on Henderson because I've done them to death and he's quite clearly not a dodgy goalkeeper, much less so than DDG over recent seasons, but in terms of bringing a goalkeeper in - his first choice for much of this season just gone was a 38 year old brought in on a free transfer from Vitesse, the best goalkeeper in the PL this season other than Allisson was signed from Olympiacos for less than £7m in the summer. We somehow allowed Mike Maignon to move clubs last summer for like £10m. The bar with DDG is so low in terms of sweeping, distribution, crosses, communication (frankly everything other than basic shot-stopping) that it really isn't difficult to find a replacement and they could spent as much or as little as they want.

It's obvious the press have very little inside info on us these days. A simple announcement that he's starting work this week (fairly obviously on the planning side) has them totally confused with conflicting reports.

This might be my wishful thinking but I distinctly remember the same start for Jose and LvG - 1st July and then things progressed in a similar languid manner (granted Jose seem to have been scouting his target since January).

EtH clearly also feels this is a dumb approach and has decided to get stuck in before going to 'recharge'. It's definitely different to what we've experienced previously with incoming managers.

Ten Hag first meeting with Rashford

No way this is true. Rashford doesn't move that quickly.
