Managers haven’t been the problem for the last 7 years. Unfortunately though I can foresee ETH not lasting long because of the cnuts up stairs and the players not giving a feck

Yeah feels so much this isn’t gonna end well

His choice to let Liverpool sign Nunez too I take it

You do realize we weren't really in for Nunez?

We probably scouted the guy throughout last season, like most top clubs throughout Europe and there might've been some interest, but it never got going...then Liverpool came in and made an offer for him. We were never serious about Nunez, he doesn't even really fit our style of play anyways. I hate this fake fecking narrative that ETH and the club seriously wanted him but we "missed out"...there are probably hundreds of players we follow and are aware of, he was one of them.

For example, out interest in Sesko was genuine...or Rabiot...Nunez was just a name mentioned, no bids or contacts with the player.

Whatever is the state of the club and the players' physical and mental state, there is no justification of United losing the first two matches so badly.
He was signed last season so had plenty of time to analyse the team. Club did not support him completely in transfers but he should be criticized for the bad performances.

I just put this in another thread, but you should do what you need to to clear out players and then let Ten Hag go young. We got Carney chukwuemeka for 20, and the guy from Inter Casadei for 12.6.

You hired a manager who is excellent at molding young teams. At Ajax he would have to sell off his best players by the time they got to be 22 or 23. But at United Ten Hag could take your talented academy players and higher level young talent plus academy best and probably get top 5 or 6.

Then you could keep building from there, eventually adding a top piece here or there as you get into CL and start challenging. Unless the Glazers leave, that’s the most successful path I see for Ten Hag and United.

Play to the managers strength, and also limit some of the financial weaknesses of the owner.

This is what I thought we'd do when ETH was announced. Now I'm not so sure the owners and their lackeys have the desire to do this. Can't make them sweet commercial money off a bunch of kids who have done nothing of note in the game

Having limited targets where even the media couldn't make a lot of them up to link back then and now linking everyone and their dogs is actually proving my point that both him and the club had no idea how to build a squad.
Yeah.

No.

He has a free pass in my book until this entire squad is completely overhauled and the idiots upstairs are replaced with best in class candidates.

Even Pep and Klopp could not work in this squalor.

That looks like a bad skit happening with yakkety sax playing in the soundtrack. How about the defense set up how they've been practicing for months now -- the setup where they know what each other will do?

That one that conceded 6 goals in 2 games against midtable clubs?

There are managers that are focusing on getting the best out of the player they have -

And they are managers trying to stick to a philosophy and see which players stick to it.

This is probably why he has been given a free pass to target his own ex players - because there isn’t enough players capable of playing the footballing tactic he wants to adhere to right now at United.

Still it’s painful watching players like BrunoFernándes and Ronaldo try play possesion football when they themselves are better on a different tactic.

There has to be some sort of balance in the tactic to get the best out the possession footballers and the non ones as well.

I know, it's incredible.

It's worse than it was under Ole and Rangnick - and that's saying something.

He's had two strikes, if he can't rally the troops on Monday, then that's 3 strikes that I don't see him recovering from.
Are you on a wum?

Its not the MANAGER, sooner we understand better it is.

We need a complete rebuild to play the way he wants even if it means finishing midtable for next couple of years....We have to support him to change the club:

Players that really really have to go: CR, Martial, Rashford, Elanga, McT (Keep Fred), Macquire, AWB, DDG, Shaw, Macquire, Varane, Dalot.

Do you seen the problem here, essentially 80% change and no different to what RR was referring to, its an open heart surgery. You don't play a pressing system with a 37 year old who has never pressed in his life for God sake....You cant play a pressing system with a captain CB who is so slow and delusional on his positioning.. others are the same....

This is what Klopp did, this is what Pep did.....They were supported and in case of Liverpool recruited without breaking the bank too much.....

We need hungry players, we need players who do not come with English tax, we need young players who can be groomed into WC as pool did with Salah, Mane, Firminio etc.....

Everything takes time, we are not an elite club anymore so stop going after players like FDJ or Kane......We have to tear everything and start from scratch and I am sure we have a coach who can deliver this but we need courange!
Why keep Fred? Hes as bad as the others.

If we wasnt in for Nunez why did we put a bid in for him? What you are saying is bullshit. It was all over the media. We pulled out when Liverpool entered the race for him.

I bet there's a tiny voice inside his bald head, everyday it's getting ever so slightly louder and saying "wtf are you doing here?!"

If this guy walks out in September....things are going to blow up big time. Hahahaha

How much money is left? Let's go via Dortmund route, buy 5-6 young players and put in a release clause. We better start thinking like a small vlub because we are no longer capable of being a great club.

He was signed last season so had plenty of time to analyse the team. Club did not support him completely in transfers but he should be criticized for the bad performances.

This is a key issue, it seems some players have been 'pulling the wool' so to speak...big time, and some of ETH selections are very hard to figure out?

Why try to play both Eriksen and Bruno? True both can take you forward , Eriksen needs at least one 'pass and move' colleague alongside him to us get up the pitch. Bruno needs one/two runners who can spot/make space behind the defence, but neither can defend for toffee!
It has to be one or the other? If ETH wants to instill a 'system' then it has to be Eriksen, if its 'play as you go' then Bruno!

Fred and McT are not the greatest midfield duo, but together they do stand a chance in breaking up attacks and occasionally (if Fred plays further forward) moving us up the pitch, but separated either presents a very poor midfield option.

DeGea is a great shot-stopper, one of the best, but his ability to play out from the back is suspect and he has never been one to come out and own his goal area., so why play a under six footer as a CB?

Lets hope these are ETH's 'try-out' situations and he will know what to do to sort out? :nervous:

I think we are stupid enough to sack him if the results keep evading us. I'm worried that, at some point, he'll realise that the setup just isn't there to allow him to succeed and that there aren't any indications of things changing anytime soon in that regard. The more I look at our tired players, the more I think that we need to look at the youth setup and see which players can be given a run out in the first team. We've got these players who have been around for a while who haven't got the technical ability or skill to adapt. In my mind, we shouldn't look at playing long ball or counter-attacking just because our players can't do that thing. We've brought him in to play a specific style of football, a more attractive style that will benefit us in the longer term. He's the one worth sticking with, even if it'll be rough for a while and it will take time to assemble the team that we need.

It's a shame that playing football doesn't suit the skill set of our players. :(

*snipped tweet*

This is horrifying and a true reflection on where we are. It seems they are not even willing to put in the graft, they just want to play OleBall...

I bet there's a tiny voice inside his bald head, everyday it's getting ever so slightly louder and saying "wtf are you doing here?!"
And you may ask yourself "this is not my beautiful team" and "this is not my beautify philosophy"

It's a shame that playing football doesn't suit the skill set of our players. :(

If pragmatic = going long a bit more but still committing to the high line / high press I'm all for it.

But we really need to press, we can't play a 5-3-2 park the bus with 30% possession again.

It's a shame that playing football doesn't suit the skill set of our players. :(

There's the predictable lack of accountability that has always cropped up with this lot.

They think they're top players being held back.

2 games for the same players to start briefing against the manager, again, after their spinelessness and shiteness was once again broadcast to the world. 2 games.

Whole squad needs ripped out and started again from scratch.

If only someone had already told us that we needed a brand new team…hmmm

I guarantee you that the players group chat is still in denial this is their fault and they think they just need to right manager to unlock their potential. Absolute nutters.

ETH needs a brand new squad to succeed thats for sure. I hope he does not abandon his philosophy. We need to evolve as a football club on the pitch.

Playing football or the ten hag way would be playing into Liverpool's hands.

Put the ego down, go 5 at the back.

Didn't we start with 5 at the back the last time we got pumped by Liverpool? Only for sources close to the dressing room to complain it was too unfamiliar to them and they hadn't had time to practice it and that's why Liverpool slaughtered us?

I also remember we started with five at the back at home against City, which basically made it into an attack vs defence training ground exercise for them.

Five at the back is not the answer people think it is.

As for the leaks, it was inevitable. Its happened to every coach that's had this group. Why would Ten Hag be any different? Keano had their measure a long time ago. As he said, leopards don't change their spots.
