So two of our worst players DDG and Maguire have a bit of tension between them? Too bad. Just send them off somewhere.
If that tension is why DDG chose to give Eriksen a hospital pass rather the unmarked Maguire resulting in a crucial goal then there is a serious problem.

Where did you read that?
I read one journo's tweet directly quoting Erik saying 'we have to play him' when talking about Ronaldo. That could be taken in a couple of ways but it didn't look good whichever way it was meant especially if it's on orders from above.

But that's like 12 minutes a mile, which is not far off fast walk pace for most averagely fit people.

I don't think you have a very good grasp/ working knowledge of levels of athleticism and comparing across sports. It's really not close to elite - it's a half decent time for a club runner. No more, no less. If you look at the manner of his run though - 1.28 through half way and then died off to do the second in 1.45 ( he did 3.13), then you see the bigger story!
Where do you get 12 min/mile from? 12min/mile gets you a finish time on 5 hours, which should be a bare minimum for an athlete. Robben literally had anavarage of 7min/mile at the age of 38.
Running marathon in 3 hours is as close to elite you get. Please educate yourself.

ETH should consider Sergei M Savic instead of waiting for De Jong. Also time to drop all those lazy players instead of punishing them. Sancho is not suitable for premier league. Should give Garnacho a chance.

Yeah it’s two different types of training.
I say it this way: every player should be able to run a marathon under 5 hours. That should be a minimum. Which means you can run/jog/walk.

I just googled robben marathon and it was a VERY impressive time imo.
3 hours and 7 minutes?! Hugely impressive pace of 7 minutes and 13 seconds per mile and an avarage speed Around 14km/h. Thats as close to elite you get.

Yeah, I was going to mention that. Elite is sub 2:20. If you've not specifically trained for a marathon, 3:07 is impressive, but lots of people run sub-3. Elites are averaging sub-5:00 miles.|

But... we're talking 13k. That's 8 miles. My top high school cross country kids would put that in twice a week before running a competitive 5k on Saturday. Plus two "speed" workouts. And I usually had three or four sub-18 5k guys (at least one sub-17 guy).

And did they say he was requiring a specific pace for that 13k? 8 miles easy isn't that big of a deal if you're in decent shape, and all of these guys should be.

I think there is a market for Garner and no market for McTominay. I think that selling Garner means we are short of money.
Yes we are short of money, or rather Glazer's refuse to spend. We need players out before more in. Hence the Garner sale

I wonder if these overpaid primadonnas realize they can't hide any longer and the fan sentiment is wholly against them? Don't want to run during games? Then run after. Can't or don't want to? There is the door.

I hate this group of players so much I'd rather see us play only academy graduates and get relegated than continue seeing the dross.

When you said all footballers should be able to run a marathon in under 5 hours - that's where I got in from! 12 mins a mile is actually just under 5.15 but close enough!

Genuinely, football aside, a 3 hour marathon, though impressive to the untrained is nowhere near elite. For example, sub 2.40 gets men a Championship Start at London - a full twenty minutes faster! Already this year, over 2500 blokes have run under 3 hours for a marathon in the UK - you're not calling all them elite? I'm certainly not elite!

Indeed, gotta keep those dividend payments coming and we have no cash on hand, just debt and a bunch of overvalued book assets (Maguire, Bruno, Rashford).

We should try to stick with a manager for more than 3 seasons, even if it goes badly, even if we don’t get Championa League, even if we don’t win anything and even if we become a bigger laughing stock then we are now.

Constantly switching philosophy, a team mixed with players bought over the years to fit a certain play style. We need to let Ten Hag do what he can, build a team that can play the way he wants. If it still doesn’t work in 5-7 years we fire him and get another manager who is suitable to manage that particular team , in this case it would be a manager who focuses on a possession based and a high pressing system.

In retrospect it was stupid to go from Moyes, to LVG, to Mourinho, then to Ole and Rangnick, now we have Ten Hag. Our team is a mess. It would be like Barcelona hiring Fabio Capello after Guardiolas departure.

I’m willing to be patient and let go of the instant need of success, because there is no quick fix. Ten Hag is class we just need to give him time, and lots of it.

The other bass thing for ETH right now is the long gap in between games.

Lots of time for everyone to talk, overthink, rumours and so on.

Probably Shaw complaining  I can see him pouting about missing his Sunday roast.

Completely agree, the players need to know this manager will outlast them. We need to remove another 5-6 rotten players. A lot of the players will be out of contract next year, just let them leave.

The way this window has gone, anyone got any confidence that we get any more players in?

We normally take a month to get a player in, so I have a strong feeling we will struggle to get any more players in.

Rabiot has been over a week now since we got linked to him. FDJ 3 months. Those are the only 2 really.

From the outside looking in...I think he's out of his depth and overrated. He was managing the best team in the Dutch league and beating up on league two level opposition, of course he would look amazing.

Those defending him just seem to be in denial. Bad tactics, bad starting line-ups, poor substitutions....these are all his fault and not decisions a capable manager would make...not to mention the delusional transfer dealings and targets.

The guy is not suitable or good enough for the job and you'll need to accept it FAST.

It's cheaper to sack a manager than gut a squad. Thats the worrying thing.

fans have never protested over a manager replaced by the Glazers that’s the issue we are always of the same opinion! It’s time we stopped with the manager swapping regardless if we finish 4th from bottom this year!

this is complete drivel.

At first i was unsure about Rabiot but watching the last 2 games, i would take anything. Thats how bad its got. I am hopeful FDJ will join. I am also confident we will get a striker, what standard is anyone's guess.

Took them to the CL knockouts for the first time in years multiple times, restored Ajax's domination in the league and was minutes from a CL final, absolutely outplaying Real and Juve along the way (and Spurs for the most part). Come on, man.

Wasn't out of his depth leading a team of weaker players vs European giants, but is out of his depth versus Brighton and Brentford.

Ok. Sure.

It's amazing how many fans and journos are turning on the manager. Yes he has made few mistakes but the quick turnaround in narrative to once again make the players look good is crazy.

How can you expect ETH to react when his team abandons his coaching and waltz through games on weekends? He is a high pressing progressive manager, and he is getting out run by opponents! Must be the worst thing for him.

He is laying down the marker - and telling the players that he is not going to stand for this shit. They want to try and get him the sack by downing tools - they will have a miserable time before we get there. They don't run enough in a game, he'll make them do the work on their off day.

If we need to find a way to get a tune out of this lot of totally lazy and entitled players - this is the only way to do it. Clearly the board has told him that he will have to make do with 80% of this squad for the next 18 months or so.

Just because he had a good run in the CL one season with a very talented team doesn't mean he will be a good premier league manager.

How can you explain the poor choices with regards to starting line-ups, substitutions, tactics? How will you improve if he targets mediocre players
and players which don't fit the league?

You weren't losing to Brentford 4-0 with previous managers and with a similar squad. It's regression and he looks completely lost and out of his depth. I know you don't want to see it that way but it's the reality the situation.

So following this excellent situation of making the players run the 13k they should have run on the Staurday, we now need to punish them for leaking to the press that they were unhappy and being mardy-arses. So the club should just let slip some briefs to the media about what has been going on in the private lives of the players suspected of leaking to the media. See how they like it.

Professionalism works both ways so probably the club wouldn't do such a thing. But the club have clearly "protected" some players previous indiscretions...suspected leakers should be told that any media management support they might have previously enjoyed will be revoked if they EVER leak anything again.

We just need to hire Colleen on the quiet to create a set of "team bulletins" with tiny differences in so we can track who leaks it to the press.

What I would like to see from ETH is to drop some of the underperformers that did nothing for the last 12 months or so, everybody knows the usual suspects.

Well, running marathon Around 3 hours is very impressive imo. 2500 blokes out of maybe 35000? Yeah, that sounds pretty elite. But hey! Thats my opinion and I would be pretty happy if I could run a marathon under 3 hours when I’m 40.

Not hard to spot

Yeah. I dont know what happened to Shaw and Maguire after the Euro cup but they lost it completely after that. Pretty similar to De Gea after the World cup.

Re Shaw I have a feeling that he’s one of the leakers to the media.

These are the cnuts in the media he has to deal with. 2 games in he’s made the club worse:

Please don't give these idiots any clicks. 2 games in and he's made the club worse. This is such crap. Hate the media.

Shaw is definitely one of the leakers as I think is Rashford.

After Euros, Shaw thought he was better than he was. Maguire - no explanation.
