Nobody else good to replace him so he stays by default.
Hope you grab that lifeline Erik.
If we start with the same shit on a stick football I don’t think he’ll last beyond Christmas.
But I like him and his attitude and I hope he improves

Finally it is over and the right decision has been made!

Now let's get behind Erik and I hope INEOS will tear up the squad.

Not going to strike fear into the opposition but not were any other managers out there.

Time to focus on getting transfers right and actually figuring out how we want to play football.

Glad for him. He'll know he hasn't done good enough this season, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as we have been plagued with injuries.

Going into next season, he really needs to find that balance. He needs to address the fact that we are easy to play against but also think about how he's going to get the best out of our attacking players.

Rashford Hojlund ?
Mainoo Bruno
?
Shaw Martinez ? Dalot
Onana

Get those three signings right, and I don't see why we can't replicate our first season or better under ten Hag.
He knows he's on thin ice but if we get good players for those positions and sort out just what is going with the injuries then there is no reason why he can't get back to the level of his first season and improve from there.

Also, he and a lot of the players suggested the preseason prep was a disaster last year. I'm....hoping that won't be the case this year? Maybe less commercial commitments, better quality training. He has to hit the ground running, again because last year will be fresh in the memory. Hoping we get an easy early round of fixtures.

For you it does and I understand that. I just disagree
That it doesn't make sense? It wasn't my preferred choice, I would've liked someone else to lay the foundations, but with options being scarce, a new contract that takes away some of his power + easy sack clause if he doesn't achieve certain objectives, makes more sense than letting him into the new season with one year left

Thankfully we can now put this behind us.
For me Ten Hag has had the most difficult job in football the last couple of years managing us through this transition. For as much as his signings have been berated don’t forget half of them have been loans due to the absolute mess the club has been in over the last few years.

That FA Cup win has caused an awful lot of delusion among some of our fanbase. We've just had to endure many of the worst performances in our recent history, but all is forgotten by those with short memories...

I hope he does well, but let's face it, the season will likely be a write off and he'll be gone by October. Roll on the 25/26 season.

Vital he gets the CB, CM and ST he says we want now. All with a rumoured £50m net spend budget.

Todibo - 40M
Neves - 75M
Zirkzee - 35M

Total - 150M

Casemiro - 40M
Sancho - 40M
Greenwood - 40M

We'll get rid of more, but those three players should bring in a minimum of 120M.

Net spend: 30M

United fans are dumber than Liverpool's. No fanbase is so naive. Ten Hag will never win anything of notice at the club (or in another club for that matter). Next season is pretty much a write-off. And I had such hopes for Ineos.

Given we’ve let Varane & Martial leave which is a £26m a year saving in wages. Casemiro, Greenwood and Sancho could well bring in £100m. Then Van de Beek, Antony, Eriksen, Pellistri, Lindelof etc could bump that up a bit further.

Even with a net spend of £50m we should be able to bring in who we need.

It's not though is it. Been reported by Ducker, Whitwell, Dawson etc.

Ten Hag fecking said it himself

I'm referencing the talk of the new contract removing his veto. There's not a chance Ten Hag would agree to that, it's just a daft theory being peddled by people trying to make themselves feel better about the club keeping him on.

I wanted him out but I’m just glad they made a decision after these weeks. Let’s support him now and hope the new structure helps him. If not, he will be sacked later on. But I hope he makes it now because we need stability, better players and prizes.

After backing him for ages, I'll admit I wanted him gone around February time.Given who was available my stance softened and I was coming round to him staying. Now with proper football people above him,he has no place to hide and I really hope he can deliver.

Glad the speculation is over and we can concentrate on reshaping the squad, gonna be an interesting summer.

I'd have to imagine there's been a number of stipulations added to his extension where there is clauses in relation to targets met etc. All things considered I am not too bothered by this. The names mentioned concerned me as much as ETH staying. In my opinion ETH has not set the world alight and has mostly failed but I started to see something happening in his football when we had a mostly fit team. He's survived because the alternatives appear mediocre and not the right fit. I can still see the board sounding out more suitable alternatives in the background as if ETH has anything like another year like this he won't survive until his extension starts. Blind faith in improvement is all I have left unfortunately.

Finally we can close that chapter for a season at least. You do feel that this is last-chance saloon for him now. No CL and he will be sacked for sure.

There is literally no need to give him a new deal, he effectively has two years left currently without it.

It's obvious what the extension is for you could see it coming a mile away, I posted that it would happen in Feb if he stayed.

That's what happens when you finish an entire 38 match season on a negative goal difference after the worst performing season in generations. The goodwill/credit in the bank burns up quickly...

UCL winning managers have been sacked in less time, mid-season even, for similar results

@kouroux

I get it, and if he was sacked, I can't say I'd have been surprised. However, you also have to sum up who is out there to replace him. I personally don't think there were any outstanding candidates.

No arguments from me and I'm a big fan of his. He needs a minimum top 4.

Feels like we're delaying the inevitable. When all our opponents are celebrating this news, it tells me something

I'd voted to sack but I'm not too disappointed as the options we're great

Be interesting to see if he can turn it around under a new regime, with hopefully less injurues

One thing I hope is the back-room staff focus on recruitment this summer with a long-term view, and we don't spunk another 200m on ETH picks

if ETH gets a bad start to the season things are going to be toxic as feck, and I blame Ineos in part for that. The way they've handled this has been awful

The no alternative line is so funny, he was 100% getting sacked if we lost the final. This is basically the club throwing away another season. Well I hope there are alternatives available next summer
