He threw away the season because he persisted with God awful tactics for the vast majority of it. His plan a has been torn to shreds both seasons and the only football he can get us to play that makes us look half way competent is a poor mans ole ball. Sounds like a good reason to fire him
Absolutely. Everything you say is correct.

But 2 trophies in 2 years and with all that went wrong and he did wrong 8 points of 4th, I think.

Big day today. A close source to the club informed me that ETH sacking news will be released today. She's a distant cousin of one of the groundsmen who used to think he works at United 20 years back and has since migrated to Madagascar cutting out all links with his family.

Dominant!? So dominant we were a schoolboy error and the width of the bar away from loosing the game.

And of the available managers, Poch has a very good record Vs city and Tuchel beat Peps city in a CL final.

It's a really weak argument.

Maybe didn’t dominate possession or chances but we won the midfield battle and kept their big players quiet whilst playing some good stuff ourselves
We were also minutes away from a 2-0 win, Onana saves that 9 times out of 10.
Give him some credit

Did we have even one full game where we played great all season? Swear the graduation goggles are real with the EtH in crowd

The Everton one was a good game. Wolves away was decent too. The palace game in the caraboa cup was probably our most dominant from start to finish.

I really fail to see what has Pochettino done to make people comfortable replacing Ten Hag with him, especially in the last 2-3 years.
It's more about what Ten Hag has shown that makes people comfortable him being replaced with someone at least decent.

Thread should be changed from clarity to charity. No matter where you stand on this, it’s been not a good look for our club. Needed to come out with the decision much sooner.

In SAF first season we finished 11th, his second season we finished just above relegation. Third season we finished 6th.
4th season we won the league And then went onto dominate the league for many years to come Winning countless trophies along the way.

ETH deserves another season. Two trophies won in two years after 6 years of sod all. Stick with Erik.

But we had to sack a manager who had won us two trophies in order to hire Ferguson. Maybe Ten Hags only role in the prophecy is to be sacked to make room for the next Ferguson?

The problem with comparing Ten Hag to SAF is that United isn't (and shouldn't be) looking for the next SAF.

how did you manage to get this so wrong?

The story would have been shot down before it got to the point of multiple interviews and conferences we’re asking the manager if it was his last match. It’s weeks later there’s been no denial and they’ve been interviewing people for the man’s job it’s a fecking shambles as per usual
Maybe what is most often done in football is that directors/board lie and give press releases even where they say they have no intention of sacking a manager even when they are 99% certain that’s what they are going to do.

Ratcliffe/Glazer’s board hasn’t done that this time, and that is the only difference between most other situations of speculation around manager’s positions. Clubs are always doing reviews and assessments, it’s normal that they talk to potential manager candidates and lie about it to the press. That’s the only thing that would have stopped the media rumour mill, or at least halted it a bit.

Why haven’t Ratcliffe or Patrick Stewart issued a press release Saying ‘We are very pleased with Ten Hag’s job here we are 100% behind him. There is no intention to end this project at this point.’? It’s a strategic decision. There are pro’s and cons. You might agree or disagree, I think you should at least weigh the pro’s and cons of that before you expertly call it a shambles.

If this isn't settled today its a huge black mark against ineos in my book. You can't justify an 'end of season review' as if assessment and analysis wasn't going on all season. Example - what if things had gotten so bad they decided to sack him in March. 'reviews' are ongoing all the time and will be all through next season - this is starting to stink of indecision and no plan, dressed up in corporate speak

First season we were 11th, yeah (He started in octobre).
Second season we came 2nd, nine pts behind Liverpool methinks (With 81 points, which would have won the league the season after, mind).
Third season we came 11th.
Fourth seadon we hovered around relegation position for a while, but ended in 13th, five points off relegation.
Fifth season we were 6th
Sixth season we were in 2nd once again, behind Leeds.
Seventh season with Fergie, we won the league.

So a few misses here, but I think your general point stands well enough.

Huge day then, if the rumours about it being decided this week are true.

The same fans who didn't want Pouch 2 years ago are now the same fans who want Pouch now. But whats happened in the last 2 years? Pouch has failed at PSG and Chelsea. At the same time, ETH has won 2 trophies. Give ETH another season and we will get top 4 and win another trophy.

Guessing it’s all games, not just league?
That just makes it even more ridiculous. It says Ten Hag has earned 168 points, yet he got 60 last season and 75 in his first season in the league. I'm no maths genius, but I'm pretty sure that adds up to 135 rather than 168, so whatever loon made that chart is apparently awarding points for cup games to pump up Ten Hag's points and points per game stats. It's complete nonsense, and whoever made it should feel embarrassed.

Its not the same game anymore. English clubs were banned from Europe, and the prize money of league positions and European qualification arent near as much. If you finish 8th in the league, in the modern game you are probably getting the sack.

Also from 86-90, who exactly was available to replace Fergie? All the top managers were in work. Fergie survived because of circumstance and the time period. Not because we "gave him time."
Sexton got the sack in 81 for getting 8th (unlike Arteta and Klopp). Atkinson got the sack in 86, after 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 4th. Managers got the sack regularily back then as well, irrespective of CL prize money. United were one of the richest clubs in England then as well, because of matchday tickets. Ferguson getting 11th, 2nd, 11th, 13th, 6th and not getting the sack was most obviously a case of a manager getting time, and a surprising amount of it. Hence all the Fergie out banners as well. Claiming the board didn’t ‘give him time’ is a contradiction in terms.

They gave him lots of time, and the question is rather: Why did they give him time?

Tbf I'd rather keep him for the time being. I'm so scared we can release this guy and bring in someone much worse. The available options are so underwhelming and none of them feels like a manager you'd let to rebuild a team.

This is the comparison in just league games. Pretty close between the first three (ETH = Klopp had he won 3 more games which we threw away) & fair to say, ETH has done much better than Arteta and Klopp in cups during his first two seasons.

Did Arteta and Klopp get to spend 400 million in their first 2 campaigns?

Really sad that the news of Ineos was looking at replacement took place 2 weeks ago, but nothing is decided yet.

Ineos came in December, followed eveythng in the club and sacking Ten Hag should have been done sooner, his replacement should have been there already.

Pre season is almost 2 weeks away now and we're not sure who will be in charge, with what staff etc

We are already losing ground this summer

You sound just like the Liverpool fans going around saying they'd have 2 more CL trophies and another PL title had they just "won three more games that they threw away".
