I'm just saying that to most people it's 'negative' information so probably less likely to respond.

No one responded including people that may be happy about it. Because there is nothing special to say about that particular post which is why instead of talking about its content, you talked about people that have "ignored" it.

I haven't actually. At least not beyond some highlights. Are you saying that EtH's method cannot work at first team level even with faster and stronger players than we currently have or you can't be sure?
I think you can implement something that works in the PL to the U18 but not the other way round.

Maybe but things like them potentially signing Pedro Neto this summer while we had the chance but bought Antony instead for 20m+ more on top is nuts.

I’m placing that on the manager. He bought an 80m+ footballer he knew and a 60m+ footballer in Mount who each contribute to the score line once in a blue moon.

It’s just not good enough when we had the money to make the best decisions.
The manager didn't bend the club over and force them to sign Antony. We wasted money long before him.

Would it have been ignored if Mitten had said he thinks he will be sacked? No not a chance.

I had no interest in having a conversation with you. It was you who butted in with your nonsense 5000 words "How 400m is not 400m" essay. Where did you learn that? At a Donald Trump rally?

Grow up.

Well, it isn't 400m unless you don't want to contextualize things, but that would clearly expose your lack of knowledge.

Just because ETH made mistakes on the transfer market, it doesn't mean everything that's gone wrong is down to him, and you also don't realize (or want to realize) the extent of those mistakes, as they're much smaller than you're trying to make them be.

Just a clueless, overdramatizing doom and gloom poster with incredible arrogance and confidence. Perfect fit for Redcafe.

Thanks for sparing the world of another inane 5000 word essay.

And once again, grow up.

Why did you ignore the content of the post?
I didn't agree. The Caf, as we have seen many times, likes to run with the perceived 'positive' news and deny/ignore the 'negative' stories.

It's not particularly a comment on the actual story itself rather a bit of a tongue in cheek comment on the way the Caf works.

And I'm making the point that it is supposed to be positive to you and yet you didn't say anything about it. In fact none of the people that deem it positive said anything by your logic they should have said something because that's the way the caf works.

People are chastised on a daily basis for saying anything remotely about ETH. Maybe that's why mate...

Yes, perhaps the absence of a center forward contributed to this too.

The way we're setup this season it hardly matters as the majority of the time our forwards seem to have little or no interest in passing to the striker.

If he is entering the last year of his contract without a renewal, it would be clear that he is not trusted by the new regime.

Talk of the Devils podcast. His opinion but Mitten is well informed.
Fair enough

At this point I'd rather just know either way, but I worry that simply getting 5th or 6th will become acceptable next season if Erik stays, as it's improvement. IMO a United manager in his 3rd season needs to be challenging.

Well the club have an option for an additional year. But yeah if we'd had a good season, 2nd-4th, decent CL run and a Cup. They'd probably be looking to extend his current deal this summer.

Don't tell me what to think or say

Ten Hag wanted most of the players well in and training over pre season. Instead Murtough and Arnold spent the whole summer fecking about going to Barca chasing a bloke who had no interest in coming and putting off all other deals in the meantime. When they finally took the hint it was getting late so they overpaid for Antony, overpaid for Martinez (both had their prices raised right up when Ajax was losing players left right and centre) and panic bought 30 year old Casemiro.

Wish everyone would stop this Ten Hag spent 400m bollocks when as usual it was the higher ups calling the shots overall. Could also argue it was all of that nonsense which led to us having a crap pre season, crap start of the season and shit loads of injuries during it too.

Chasing De Jong is obviously primarily Erik's fault.

It's his former player, we had a bid accepted. Erik should have been able to pick up the phone to him and figure out he's not interested within about 30 seconds. Rather than make the club waste 3 months in limbo because he lacks basic people skills.

Any competent manager would have been phoning a major target like De Jong within a day of the bid being accepted. Or ETH knew he wasn't interested and was hoping for Barca to literally force him out against his wishes somehow.

The thing that really bugged me was when he said he doesn't want United to play like Ajax.
Brother, that's why the fecking hire you!
I think that was a big turning point for many. As soon as he said that, many of us were like "what's the point, then?"

You would think if they intended to keep him regardless of the FA cup final, they would announce it beforehand.

In theory that should galvanise him a bit, and his staff, and the squad.

We've had briefings from players about there being a sense that ETH is toast but not in a 'we want shot of him' sort of way.

At the moment the uncertainty has just bred a bit of confusion and apathy in the team

So which lightning quick defenders were we missing that prompted this decision then?

Because it's certainly not Martinez and our quickest centreback is Varane who's been available for the majority of the season.
We planned to replace Maguire which never happened. We have played a lot of games with Maguire, Evans or both, both of whom cannot defend 1v1 because they are slow. Varane has slowed as well.

Martinez is fine at it, as he was at Ajax.

Honestly this argument of pick a "style" and stick with it regardless blows my mind, the notion that it is ok to completely tank a season by employing tactics you don't have the players for, but hey lets do it anyway, oh this is going terribly, nevermind lets stick with it! I mean there are ways and means to go about making changes, to support and defend what ETH has done this season, I cannot even begin to contemplate how somebody would take that stance.

Do you think it is okay for a manager not to have the mindset or capacity to adapt their style, tactics, formations to get the best from their team and set up against different opposition, unless you are Man City being predictable is one of the worst things you can be in football.

The comparisons to Klopp and Arteta are ill made, both teams were clearly making progress you could see it on the pitch, even when they were losing games one week and winning the next you could see it happening.... what progress have we made? if there is any it is not apparent on any matchday... name one good match this season.... I will give you the 1st Chelsea match, but they were playing as crazy as us, and in truth should have scored more but fluffed their lines... the Liverpool match when we were awful for 70 minutes? there is no progress, in any department, we cannot even defend corners an set pieces anymore, nevermind defending the edge of the box, we don't keep possession, our attacks almost all come from fast counter attacks.... which I don't mid but lets face it that is not progress, that was the case under Mourinho and Ole.

On the injuries, they have been bad, but at any one time we have been able to field a very good 1st 11, including recognised defenders, an 11 which would have if set up and coached well would have seen us perform much better than we have.... CB consistency is a problem, but even when we had 4 CBs available ETH was chopping and changing, our defenders have actually played well this season but have been exposed but poor tactics.

If I could see any positives on the pitch I could get the argument of keeping ETH for another season, but I see none, zero, nada! not only that the money he has cost and will cost in poor results is too much of a risk.... that safe 5th or 6th, and getting out of the group stage in the CL would have saved us £10s of millions, it is not okay to disregard this and just do your thing!
So your solution would have been to botch this season’s progress too. We would never get anywhere.

The comparison with Arteta is absolutely valid, except he didn’t have to deal with an insane amount of injuries. Arsenal fans were ready to bin him off.

Ignoring the fact that speed isn't how you make it work and that none of the players mentioned are slow or fast. When you use Ajax as an example and also use speed as an argument, you face one small issue none of Martinez, Blind, De Ligt or Schuurs are fast, they are not faster than our options and they aren't even more agile.

What progress are you referring to exactly?

Well you have 2 out of 3 in the starting lineup who are youth projects, which in itself is a problem before you consider set up or coach.

How many times does it have to be stated on here, we have been piss poor since the league cup win with or without injuries. Jog your memory back to the very first game against Wolves this season.
