Eh?They hardly threatened us either.
Onana had to make several saves. They barely tried.

The problem has been Ten Hag's suicide tactics not egos. Ronaldo isn't here.Managing these egos with this level of exposure only works when you're 100% on the money when it comes to have another 2 or 3 players in the wings who are itching to take the spot of the others and actually could, like a Real or City. Otherwise you need to be ruthless like a Bayern or even Arse recently in clearing out some of the rot right away. I think he ll do very well again elsewhere, United just needs to be turned inside out entirely.
Umm no not at all. Pep replaced his players quickly and Klopp still plays the same style generally.
We have an injury riddled squad that isn‘t capable of playing any style convincingly at the moment. Except for plan Z (zombie football).
It's really laughable. It really can't get worse than this. What he's gonna do, finish 15th? It's fascinating to me how highly some people still rate him.
He was just giving pathetic excuses. Everyone wants Kane, he isn't a genius for saying that and even City with all their financial doping failed to.sign him. Antony is definitely his signing as is onana, as is Amrabat, Eriksen, Werghorst, Malacia. Are they his signings though? Did you see the interview with Ollie on The Overlap?
I don't share that presumption. I think he got what he could and made the best of it. Good players don't want to come to the graveyard so we have to throw money at mediocre ones, callow ones, past their prime ones. Now the money isn't there even to do that with FFP.
Of course. And he will get sacked, you can rest assured. But the next manager will have the same problems and probably won't even be as good. The direction of travel is towards another Ole style corporate yes man - Southgate perhaps.
Mark my words they'll both play less than half the available games next seasonProgress, we didnt concede record shorts today.
Lost by only 0-1.
If we can keep the scoreline low against Newcastle,Brighton and City i will be happy.
Next season Shaw and Martinez will return, we can start playing football and judge ETH.
They barely tried.
Are you winding us up?Sack Ten Hag. Get Mourinho.
United need a tough guy to rebuild. No one better than Mourinho.
Merson has just said ten Hag has the power of the Men In Black reset pen the way he dupes so many after each shocking game we play.
I'm actually not continually defending him. I've said a fair bit of criticism and landed on the side that I have no qualms with those wanting him sacked.Yet you continue to defend him?
Here's an example of some more exaggeration.Or changing views after each game
I can imagine similar comments being made about Fergie in the early years and Arteta by Arsenal fans a few years ago. They stuck by Arteta and have gotten their reward. There is a virtue in being patient.Rubbish. The cycle is starting again regardless because we're getting a director of football that should dictate how the squad develops. Ineos also put all the players in the shop window, not ETH.
The players are not throwing ETH under the bus, he's thrown himself under the bus through rank incompetence.
Ineos and Ashworth will not want to play this ugly, pathetic brand of football that ETH is building towards and he's not their man. So why would you keep him?
That and how he didn't even have a carpet in his house because he was too busy down the bookies.
Probably the most insightful thing Merson's ever said, to be honest
For a predominantly left leaning forum I think it’s incredible how much people don’t like it when someone has a different opinion or perspective.I'm actually not continually defending him. I've said a fair bit of criticism and landed on the side that I have no qualms with those wanting him sacked.
My posts however are cherry picked, where the only the ones that give context (not to play down to his own performance) would be flagged as some sort of Ten Hag sympathsiser. The biggest problem is those wanting ten hag out is they are essentially a mob with pitch forks, annoyed at any view that's not as extreme as wanting the man stoned.

You could see what Arteta was trying though. He got them playing better football but they were leaky at the back.I can imagine similar comments being made about Fergie in the early years and Arteta by Arsenal fans a few years ago. I get wanting Ten Hag out, but do you really think today's game was "shocking", all things considered?

Actually agree with this, which is why I am far, far harsher with the manager - and have been for months - than most.
He's sabotaged us with his pride and ego for little to no reason.
Yeah, the overarching problem has predominantly been tactical. That’s why the injury stuff has been a non-point. Shaw, Licha, and Varane being fit all season would be nice and we’d probably do slightly better because they are higher quality players, but that tactical setup we’ve been playing for 99% of the season was failing irrespective of who was available. If we had played with this structure all season long or at least after the first two games, after looking like frankensteins ugly cousin, we’d comfortably be top 4.
I love it when somebody pops in here and acts like he's making the most original, well thought-out argument, but it actually turns out it's just a rehashed cliche that's been repeated at least a million times over the last 11 yearsOh what a surprise, he's gone for the "compare with Fergie" AND "compare with Arteta" routes.
“It’s the players”I can imagine similar comments being made about Fergie in the early years and Arteta by Arsenal fans a few years ago. They stuck by Arteta and have gotten their reward. There is a virtue in being patient.
You're missing "we're not a sacking club, go support Chelsea or Real"“It’s the players”
“Do you remember how it was under SAF at the start?”
“Look at team X, be patient”
Keep going. Blame the Glazers and you’ve gone 4 for 4 and win a kenwood juicer.

Comparing ETH to SAF . This fecking placeI can imagine similar comments being made about Fergie in the early years and Arteta by Arsenal fans a few years ago. They stuck by Arteta and have gotten their reward. There is a virtue in being patient.
If I was manager I'd turn into SAF or Arteta after a few years too.I can imagine similar comments being made about Fergie in the early years and Arteta by Arsenal fans a few years ago. They stuck by Arteta and have gotten their reward. There is a virtue in being patient.

I don't disagree with the premise that he's had a difficult job and bad luck, but It's interesting that you don't offer any positive case for him staying other than, "nobody can succeed". Doesn't say a lot about what he's done.
They aren't though. He's broadly spoke nonsense. Anyone that wants ten hag metaphorically stoned and hanged will spit on an iota of context or reason.
Tell me you don't know anything about the left without saying you don't know anything about the left. Off topic, but whatevs. For a predominantly left leaning forum I think it’s incredible how much people don’t like it when someone has a different opinion or perspective.
They genuinely can’t handle it.
In the context of how we usually get battered, I was pleased to not be humiliated and mauled in this game.I get wanting Ten Hag out, but do you really think today's game was "shocking", all things considered?
I refuse to believe
Exactly. Makes ETH actually look worse! If we had played with this structure all season long or at least after the first two games, after looking like frankensteins ugly cousin, we’d comfortably be top 4.

These posts coming one after another did make me chuckle.Oh what a surprise, he's gone for the "compare with Fergie" AND "compare with Arteta" routes.
Chucked away this seasonExactly. Makes ETH actually look worse!
Setting up the team for failure for no good reason. Really exacerbating the weaknesses of a number of our players by making them overextend and do things they can't do. Making Casemiro run in acres of space when at his time in career cycle the distances he should cover should be even shorter - there's a reason why you put runners around the older legs and have them read the play and sweep up, ala Real with Kroos. The list is endless.Yeah, the overarching problem has predominantly been tactical. That’s why the injury stuff has been a non-point. People on the left tend to be more liberal minded no? Are you saying that's wrong?Tell me you don't know anything about the left without saying you don't know anything about the left. Off topic, but whatevs.
We tolerate your delusion, but when your opinion was in the ascendency me, @Samid, @el3mel and others had to deal with mods shutting down threads, polls, warning and banning users.
