He got sacked from Chelsea whilst looking out of his depth and even worse than ETH.

Didn’t he actually get Chelsea playing some pretty good football? They just couldn’t put the ball in the net and were underperforming their XG quite significantly? Might need a Chelsea fan to confirm this. Not saying we should hire him, mind.

What an odd player to start a fight with or just call out when he hardly ever does that other times to players who consistently underperform and don't save his arse

Chelsea are still massively underperforming their xg. Also conceding way more goals than they should be statistically. Really strange their performance vs results.

I think Potter's a pretty good manager tactically tbh, but I would worry that he might face the same issues he had at Chelsea with the players undermining him and calling him Harry Potter and that bollocks. If he'd be prepared to accept an interim role until the end of the season I'd be open to it tbh. Can then assess at end of season. Unlikely that would happen though.

A genuine concern if we stick with a large amount of this squad, many have survived one too many managers. Wouldn't trust them at all with a manager like Potter.

He's clearly shagged it. Jobs to big for him, and he doesnt even talk a good game anymore. Shite after shite every single week. You could put Harry Maguire as CDM and he wouldnt look so obviously clapped out as Casemiro is. From the first kick of the season, we've looked off it. Forget injuries, top 4 was there. Spurs and Villa let us back in, and we cant keep position against Brentford. If INEOS or Ratcliffe or Avran Glazers pet cat or whoever else is making the decisions cant see he's not a Man United manager, then we're in big trouble.

Today‘s game, it’s obvious that the spirit and togetherness of the team are done and gone.
The players didn’t give up and still fought. But they did so as eleven individuals. This system has taken out everyone‘a soul.

Just today?

We've been playing like this for months.

He must feel like banging his head against the dugout. There’s no way what he’s telling them to do is what we’re seeing on the pitch. But at the end of the day, it’s his job to somehow get them to perform. I do have sympathy - we’ve seen this squad do this to several managers at this point. But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t take blame. We’re just a broken club.

We haven't, it's a much changed squad from even 2 years ago never mind 6 years ago when Jose got sacked.

I won't lie the results in itself do not look good but I refuse to get dragged along with the eric out campaign. We had a goal against because 2 18 y old made mistakes, one of them just fell unlucky. Casemiro was bad. Bournemouth is a good team. ETH even admitted that our penalty was debatable. But again we pulled out a draw, away. We have quite some good players to come back in the next weeks (martinez, shaw with a bit of luck, Evans, Lindeloff) when we have some big games coming up.

I always said I am ETH out if he gets to 3 run losses, with bad game tactics minute 1 till 90 and 3 or more goal difference beatings. As one poster said: perhaps Newcastle is ready to hand us our back bum. But if you don't believe the opposite, then why are you here anyway, is my view. I stand by this team. Can we do it, I don't know. I tell you this: today, even with the few good shots against Onana (who played a very good game) I never had the feeling we would lose. We just severly lacked in attack. I counted maybe 5 or 6 well executed attacks. Our wingers and forwards made too many errors. Hojlund worked very hard. That mess up by Rashford in the 70th minute was very bad and he knew it, that's why he chased back all the way to rb. It's also testament how good Bournemouth pressed and they played at home.

Also, under Jose, LvG, these games would end 0 - 0. You would have all the nice low shot stats, the high controll stats but no goals. Anyway, see it as you fit. I know the place will be crawling with ETH out posters and good for them. I'm not one of them. Yet.
Wow!

We dont actually know what shit is until Ten Hag rocked up. Solksjaer, Mourinho, Moyes, Van Gaal, first real signs of trouble and we hit the new manager bounce button. Ten Hag I've seen us lose 7-0 at Anfield. 6-3 at the Etihad, concede the most shots at our goal in the country outside of Sheffield United, had the worst performances I've ever seen, leading to losing the most amount of games in a premier league season. Van Gaal was shite, Mourinho had his moments, Solksjaer was punching above his weight, and Moyes was well out of his depth. But you're mad if you think it was this bad under those 4.

On the plus side, we're in another cup final we'll definitely lose. So we might just have a season as good as Hull City under Steve Bruce, if you want to call that a positive.

EDIT: Sorry, we arent even in the final yet. Coventry wont be as easy as it should be.

Getting embarassing now.

we’ve gone from top four looking to break into the title race to probably finishing 15-20 points off top 4 the way things are going.

Someone needs to take him and a fair few of the players out the back at the end of the season

Yup. Players are not robots, they are being told to do something that is not working, they can only do it for so long before calling out the ineptitude. It's a different squad with a few exceptions, but it doesn't mean the core is necessarily rotten.

Is it so hard to believe that the players know enough about how to win football matches, that they can make an educated assessment of this manager? They are all internationals, some of them have had success under previous bosses or at previous clubs. They will be speaking regularly to contemporaries who are successful, and working under successful bosses.

When something is so obviously wrong, can you honestly say that if you were in their shoes you would be happy to follow instructions and collect your wages? There's only so much mismanagement you can take.

He sounded like such a baffoon on MOTD post-match.

Should have been hammered 5-2 again. Second most shots conceded in the league. He has to go tomorrow.

But when you assess his post-match comments it's almost nonsensical to assume the players are acting of their own accord. We are seeing the same patterns, shapes and dysfunction in every game irrespective of opposition. What we have witnessed some of the players do in the past was give up, run at 10% effort and show no competitive nature in anything. That is a distant reality to what's taking place, we are witnessing a tactical capitulation, better yet, a demolition where the manager has accountability in not being able to do the basics with how he sets this team up.

There's one of the leagues most proficient output players in Bruno, one of the best young players to break through the academy in midfield since the class of 92 and a serial accomplished winner, who goes from being the most impactful signing last season to absolute dismal the next.

Many have sold out to the idea that this is the coach but his best is winning with a club that is the monopolized outfit in their domestic league and reaching a UCL semi-final when someone like Poch overperformed for spurs for three consecutive seasons and reached a UCL final with an inferior team but by the masses is deemed not good enough by comparison (whereby I also agree) so how Erik gets the nod and approval is beyond comprehension.

Erik has a ceiling and it's taken him receiving this opportunity for us as spectators to realize it. I'm perfectly fine with it not working out and the hierarchy re-evaluating to find a more competent individual. That's just the reality of life in a nutshell the show continues but fans hanging their hat on 'this is the man' it's utter nonsense.

Sack him and van der Gag on monday. Let Shteeeve be the caretaker till the end of the season, than sack him too.

Get one of Zidane, Inzaghi, Ancelotti, Xavi or Simeone and sell all of the useless cnuts like Casemiro, Varane and the whole lot and their mother.

wow. We need another 9 points and no more defeats to not break/ equal records on lowest points and most defeats as well.

like I cant see how some are still defending it - currently worse than the moyes season and sort of on par with the Ole/Ragnick shitshow season

We've seen this movie before with David Moyes. Deer in the headlights.

Why do people say this?

The only players “surviving” multiple managers are McTominay, Shaw, Dalot, Rashford, Lindelöf, Martial (100% gone this summer).

Once Martial leaves this Summer we’re down to just 5 players in the entire squad that have played for more than two managers, of which, only 3 are considered starters when fit.

ETH has been given chance to build an entire new team, whoever is manager next season will likely have just 3-4 players in the entire squad that have lasted through Ole-ETH. The problem with ETH aside from his lunatic tactics is that he’s barely able to play any of the lads he’s brought in, else he inexplicably decides not to play them (Mount, Antony) even when the team has been playing like utter shite for months.

Getting rid of Rashford should be the first thing any new manager is asked in interview. And anyone who says keep = cv binned.

It's still too many given how unreliable they all are.

Ten Hag has done an awful job with the players he's bought too. He's baffled me with the decisions he's made and how little faith he's shown in many of his own players, then too much faith in others. Sick of it all.

We see this over and over again, the end comes subsequent to the inside rhetoric uttered by the manager that boggles the mind of the fans and the media.

We have now seen this with ETH, just when and not if…

I’ve stuck by him longer than most just like I did with all the previous managers… until I no longer did.

While I still think he’s been dealt a shit hand, persisting with Casemiro and Rashford is unforgivable. What the feck is he thinking.

When you look at how he dealt with Ronaldo of all people, and even Sancho last year - I can’t fathom how spineless he’s been with dropping these two. It’s like he’s not even the same bloke anymore.

Easily the worst manager we've had post-SAF.

Not even Moyes was this bad.

I genuinely think he's been the worst manager in the league this season. That's how bad he's been. If he was in charge of the relegation fodder teams, they'd probably be even worse.

But there’s a very good chance it’ll be like 3 players after this Summer. We’ve completely changed squad, this isn’t a squad that keeps letting managers down, this really is ETH’s squad that’s failing him.

Overall I totally agree, but I can't help be sick of seeing us rely on a few players who have let us down, been unreliable season after season. For example, going into another season trusting Shaw, it's just so exhausting at this point.

Yup, I’d 100% buy a replacement for Shaw this Summer even if Shaw stays. Absolutely cannot be trusted.

So, so many of these players need to follow ETH out the door.

We normally agree but I’m watching the last couple of months and I don’t know how any player can flourish in this.
The defence are constantly left exposed with players turning and running at them for 90 minutes.
The midfielders are being asking to do an absolutely impossible job, with the instructions for Rashford, Bruno and Garnacho they’re often left two in there versus 4 or even 5.
The forwards are the only ones I can point a finger at and Garnacho is young and generally had a really good season, Bruno’s still our best player, so there’s Rashford and Højlund.

I’m gonna hold off on demanding a massive clear out until I see these lads in a system that isn’t absolute chaos.

Great, now it's gonna be Ten Hag vs Garnacho.

We better choose Garnacho.
I don't care about Garnacho, he has no right to retweet that nonsense and this is coming from someone that wants ETH gone like yesterday.
I don't see the talent with Garnacho, I would not be bothered if he is gone to be honest
