Good. Hope so. He’s well connected media wise though no?This is the moment this post lost any credibility

Heard he showed up to the interview in a bright red blazer and skin tight trousers. All downhill from thereI have no idea why we aren't in talks with Nagelsmann. Perfect opportunity for the summer.
Demoting him to a head coach role still doesnt solve the fundamental problems of us being utterly shit at the absolute basics which is partly down to............coaching.
Nothing this season/even last season after the Carabao Cup win has indicated that we are likely to improve on this any time soon.
I want Erik out but when the alternative is that well we might as well not have a manager at all
It can because we know that when he has no other option and is told that he has no other option, he can coach a team correctly. That's what he has done previously and he has done it following very different philosophies. I genuinely believe that one of the biggest issue here is a head coach who has been given too much leeway and can't control himself for the betterment of his club and players. That's why the vast majority of sport entities do not follow a manager model, that kind of model require someone that has the awareness and humility to evaluate himself and his context at all time, most people are too proud to do that.
What is wrong with a manager like Nagelsman or De Zerbi? Atleast the football would be fun to watch. If ETH is sacked, i wouldnt be against hiring one out of those two. I dont like the idea of Southgate as the new manager though.
I think he's a good manager that has been swallowed up and spat out by this club and this squad, like so many others. But now he's in a defensive, reactive mode where he seems to be doubling down on players and tactics that have failed him consistently. I doubt he knows who he can trust among the squad, and those he does let him down endlessly.
What players
Even if his level of control at the club involves deciding how much toilet paper everyone uses there is no excuse for the Brentford game. Theres no excuse for the amount of goals from cut backs we concede. Theres no excuse for the utter lack of control we have in games or the amount of shots we have to deal with. These are the absolute basics and yet game after game we ride our luck constantly. EtH cant be so focused on other things at the club currently that sorting out these major onfield issues isnt his main priority.
Exactly as I expected / am expecting. There's one thing he's particularly good and very consistent with which is pretending everything is going according to plan and things are fine. He will have worked his magic with our new owners and management behind the scenes and the guy can talk the talk.
He'll be given another season with significant financial support and an assurance that he's getting a free pass at reshaping of the squad / the way we play and that we will not look at results too deeply. He will be assessed in 2-3 years, this season is a write off, next season will be a free pass and we may start looking at his performance more closely in 2025-26.
I'll be very surprised if we don't start next season with him.
Not really, he throws so much shite that some is bound to stick.Good. Hope so. He’s well connected media wise though no?

It will until he leads us to a comfortable 4th/5th place next season which will be considered a massive achievement and a huge improvement simply because the bar set this season is so low that an improvement is not going to be that hard to achieve with investment.Yeah and that immediately gets them off on the wrong foot so well done INEOS nice work
I think there’d be a lot of interest. Ajax for one, Dortmund are apparently keen. Basically a lot of clubs in the tier below that look at United as the impossible job anyway.Apparently in Whitwell's article later, he'll mention some other clubs are interested in taking ten Hag? Who we thinking?

Today I feel reflecting over last nights game a bit different than the euforic state I was in yesterday. I have been defending ETH for quite some time but what if I am wrong? What if my good friends @Sarni and @hobbers are right and we need to shift the manager asap?
On the one hand we almost did win against city, against this one billion Chelsea bad as they are (they really are bad). I also like that we have a awful lot of high turnovers and actually managed to get some grip on the midfield. We started well and should be up a goal the first minute. I also see that with a constant changing or players there are no routines. Yesterday Mainoo, AWB and Dalot had a lot of misunderstandings. It looks very messy. I also think that while ETH brought in some new players, the core of Rashford, Bruno, AWB, Maguire is still there and still playing, starting.
But the other hand that messy setup could be set up better. If rotation is the key then Bruno should sit one out too. I just cannot stand to watch another game with Bruno messing up play time and again, aiding into an already nervous midfield. Reaching for his head and yelling: ooohh for the umpteenth time. I think I will skip a few games and check the results, see where it goes. But if ETH persists with Bruno, I am looking at the ETH out camp for sure. Even if he is not the root source, ETH should show no man is big enough and he needs to show a few games without the chaos, even if that means less crazy attacking.
edit: I just watched the post match interview and it is striking how he talks how the team, the players make the wrong decisions. They should know how to calm down, to stop making long passes in extra time. Look for easy solutions. So he does know what goes wrong. Is it really a matter of the player quality, that they just cannot be coached any higher than this, or is ETH himself at fault? I'm on the fence on that one. He did also point out that Casemiro als had to go off injured and without him and Evans, there was no experience to drag this win over the line. That in itself must be very damning for Bruno, even if he too, did a good analyse how the penalty and the Chelsea winner never should have happened. But it did. They talk the talk but now they have to walk the walk just to keep P6.
They won't depend on manager no for the squad turnover. But the manager is part of that turnover, whether he stays or goes. That's a huge decision, especially getting the right next guy in. If Wilcox and Ashworth aren't leading the search, aren't leading the rebuilding, then what the feck did we hire them for and what are we waiting a year for? It's illogical. Fans should be patient because they came in and are setting up a structure. You can't snap your fingers and have everyone start, you can't expect them to break a bunch of contractual laws, if the guy doesn't start til next year then it is what it is. We'll do some work, but not major things as the guy who is responsible for that stuff hasn't started yet. Unfortunately, our main rebuild is on hold and can't fully get started. It is not about being patient or totally irrational like Boehly at Chelsea. They will NOT depend on whoever the manager is and the structure they are putting in place will have a big say in how this summer will shape up. So this justification to keep Eth, as some posters are putting it, so that he can clean house is not relevant irrespective of whether he stays or is fired.
Absolutely no chance he gets a third full season if things continue to be this bad. It's laughable enough that he'll get to finish this one.Exactly as I expected / am expecting. Madness he wasn't sacked this morning. As I've said before just do a Bayern. Announce he is sacked but will see out the season.
I would take an INEOS patsy, or a Vanilla type manager right now. Honestly, this is the worst football I have seen from a United team. The sort of stuff you wouldn't see in under 12's football.
Not being able to see a game out for 4 minutes of injury time. We have seen this all season. Brentford, Galatasaray, Copenhagen, Bayern Munich, Fulham.... Nothing changes. No game management. This is on the manager.
Conceding the same cut back goal all season. First witnessed against Brighton in August. Occurred again last night for Gallagher's goal. Not addressed in 8 months. This is on the manager.
Jaime Carragher went in on Ten Hag after the Fulham game, Ten Hag was quizzed about it in a press conference.
Carragher said we have 6 forwards pressing high, and the center half's dropping deep, with 30 yards of space in the middle of the pitch. All the opposition have to do is play into that space and they have a run on United's goal. A 3 versus 2 situation. It is not sustainable.
Chelsea did exactly the same thing last night, Brentford on Saturday. Huge gaps in the middle of the park, Maguire and Evans dropping deep, all the forwards high up the pitch. Chelsea had 28 shots. Brentford had 31. This is on the manager.
Right now, I would take anyone who can set up the team not to concede 30 shots per game. To be able to manage a game and not concede straight after scoring. To be able to learn from mistakes and cut them out. To have a solid and cohesive unit, where everyone knows their roles and where they should be playing, for instance someone sitting in the D to stop cut back goals. Or marking the oppositions most dangerous player for a corner. I am asking for the very basics here. The sort of stuff that De Zerbi or Unai Emery would fix in one training session. Why can't we do that. What makes us unique? When does Ten Hag concede that his tactics aren't working? Or entertain a plan B? Play to the players strengths. How can you sit there week in and week out and watch your team getting overrun all over the pitch, and then go out the next game with exactly the same set up? When was the last time we actually controlled a game?
We could lose every game from now until season end and he won’t be sackedMadness he wasn't sacked this morning. As I've said before just do a Bayern. Announce he is sacked but will see out the season.
It sure does — of course he’ll fall in line to save his own skin and keep the cushtiest job he’ll ever have.Seriously though - the 2nd tweet makes sense to me.

I disagreed with this narrative that he wanted no direction from higher ups. He had a structure of support at Ajax and no big club works in the manner that he did last season. It's unreasonable to assume otherwise. It sure does — of course he’ll fall in line to save his own skin and keep the cushtiest job he’ll ever have.
And why wouldn’t he? He’s lost more games than anyone has in a season at this club since 1980, conceded the most shots in top flight european football, and yet somehow has a massive majority of fans still on his side. It’s remarkable. At this point I bet he’s wondering how hard he can tank before he actually loses full faith!
This has to be a WUM at this point.
We have conceded the most shots in the league in 2024.
The new people on the board can't coach for him.
And there are plenty of options. At this point, there's maybe 15 managers in this league alone who'd do a better job than ETH has done this season.
