I dont want to see ETH sacked until the end of the season and only if performances do not improve. On a mischievous note if we are looking for a new manager in the summer how would the people on here feel about Xabi Alonso. Putting aside ill feelings because of his playing career, He has Leverkusen flying in Germany and every manager he has played for speaks about him having an incredible football brain and could be the next great manager with some saying he could be a new Pep. It could be an inspired appointment with the new setup being muted.
I wouldn't mind him with a structure in place that will enable him to replicate at OT what he's currently doing in Leverkusen. The Bundesliga is a great environment for young managers to thrive and make a name for themselves, exactly because they are being trusted by their clubs. And most clubs in Germany are more than willing to embrace new technologies and methods to assist the manager in his job. At United, the refusal to even understand why change is necessary has created an intolerably toxic environment. On here, you get many people suggesting that the manager should have minimal input in who comes and goes (can't blame them) without even realizing how detrimental this can be to a strategy that has the delegation of duties at its core or how it can steer away possible candidates for the job.
I don't care that he played for Liverpool, either. It's not that we're going after Gerrard. In my eyes, he's one of the best holding midfielders ever, with a skill-set and football brain that allowed him to play for Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and win everything there is with his NT. A classy player on the pitch, very calm, measured, respectful and informative as a manager. He definitely seems like someone who would approach the job with the appropriate respect and without prejudices, if he believes that United are the best option for him. Does he imagine himself getting the big money in the PL by landing the gig at Anfield? He probably does. I also think he'll be disappointed because, the way i see it, Klopp isn't going anywhere. Who knows, if he's as good as people think, perhaps there's a great football story to be written here.
Having said that, i think that, for the time being, INEOS will focus on their network to find solutions. Potter and De Zerbi seem to be the frontrunners, if ETH gets the sack. The latest tweets indicate that our new CEO is familiar with Brighton's model and the managers it "creates". I think they'll start there and look to expand their network rather than going for what may seem like another oddball managerial appointment with zero groundwork behind it.
