Still dont understand why Bruno was straight back up into the side after wr had a good performance against Liverpool without him. Why does he keep changing? Why does he keep insisting on sabotaging midfield?

No manager on the planet gets all his first choice transfers. Not even Guardiola. He has been "forced" into shocking loans because he wasted an absolute fortune on duds.

Guardiola does by and large, but more importantly City plan and execute their transfer strategy skilfully. They have competent operators who allow them to sign the right players early doors and bed them in. It’s not solely on Guardiola to pick targets, where as it seems it’s all on ETH here. Also they have solid plan a, b and c targets, meaning they never go into a season short in any position. We’ve been fecked across the park for 12 years.

Back to ETH - Mount was a stupid signing, Antony was a shocking signing, Hojlund is young and raw and his price tag is par for a striker with his supposed talent. All three were big transfers. Martinez has been a good signing and was a great piece of business and Casemiro looked an inspired signing for 6 months until the whole club went off the boil post League cup final. Onana fair to say hit and miss, so far. Off the top of my head they’re the only major signings he’s made (must be missing someone…).

Beyond that everyone else has been a loan or free transfer. We barely even signed Amrabat, despite being linked to him heavily from the start of last window.

That to me is indicative of how poorly run this club is, the manager reliant on free transfers and stitching loans together to cover positions. And it all comes back to the ludicrous contracts we have been offering long before ETH turned up leaving us unable to sell players. The club can barely back the manager if they wanted to in the transfer market now.

It’s a major misconception that purchasing expensive players is why FFP is fecking us. It’s purely down to not being able to sell anyone. That’s the actual issue and it’s years in the making.

The match tactics are completely different

We clearly need the structural and DOF more and more importantly BEFORE the manager change

Yes, Ten Hag is not able to coach the players he found here nor the players he brought in, but somehow the DoF will magically find the players he can coach and fix his formation as team selections, the fact he can’t arrange a cohesive defensive shape, his substitutions and in-game management. Genius :wenger:

Besides, at no point in my posts did I argue what you need “more” or “before”. That’s not even taking in consideration that managerial change can be actioned much sooner and again fix some of our existing problems. Again, structural and managerial change aren’t mutually exclusive and evidently - both are needed at United.

More structural and definitely director of football

Much like you previous post you’re arguing strawmen. Read above.

Yes lets make a manager change even though by your own logic the people in charge of picking the managers have made 5/6 poor appointments. Lets trust that same setup to pick the next manager. No point fixing that issue of poor decision making in recruitment and staff hires at the club first, why should we do that. Lets just do what is the quickest thing to do and sack and get a new manager in.

Solanke for Bournemouth on 11 goals, only 7 less than our whole team. 12 really because he scored last week.

Today was barely any different to the Liverpool game.

You think we should have sat back and played for a 0-0 against West Ham?
Isn't that better than a 2-0 defeat? Or the other 10-11 losses to top half teams away in last 2 years?

You build on good results like last week. Not throw it out of the window and start doing same nonsense again which clearly is not working. Also we did have a few good chances against pool. West Ham are not that good and we could have had better chances but prioritizing defensive solidity could have helped us today.

He has clearly abandoned his plans for the season by playing McTominay higher up the pitch so why not play a brand that helps us get a few points?

I get that there was a lapse in concentration, he’s not wrong there. But this team hasn’t scored in 4 matches now, and on top that, hasn’t looked like scoring. This is the problem with United right now and the reason we lost today.

He has spent £150m on two of those front 3 players, he needs to get them firing or he will lose his job.

I agree with that but can’t deny he’s changed their fortunes.
In one main way he and ETH have done a similar thing. Weed out the wasters and those with poor attitudes / bad influences.
Arsenal stuck with their plan.
I’m not sure even if we stick with ETH it would work out but in general I like that approach.
There is lots I don’t like as well, but the attitude/discipline but he has got spot on.

It works if you're working with kids.

No manager survives a season like this. He'll be gone once the partial takeover is concluded, it's the only thing keeping him here.

He's sacking himself by persisting with a suicidal midfield setup every single game.

Just get the clown out

imagine spending 70 odd million on a striker you don’t use your strengths around
I won’t even start on Antony

Yes. It's an away game against a team of at least the same calibre as ours, with a manager that has a clearly defined style. An away point there would've been great.

Yeah ok. Again the setup today was not why we lost we were comfortable and controlled most of the game. We made a couple of mistakes and it cost us (defensively) going forward we were just as shit as we usually are

We played for a 0.0 today and failed

'It was a solid performance, but we didn’t score!"

Is he now acknowledging that his once-daring counterattacks have been replaced by just getting by?

More strawmen - and not even accurate at that. The guys in charge now are not the guys that appointed 5/6 poor managers. Besides, we don’t need to make a permanent appointment. We can however still salvage something out of this season.

Also, plenty of clubs that changed managers regularly have found more success in that approach than sticking it out with an incompetent and underperforming manager.

You can’t point to a single positive reason to keep this fraud in place. You literally want to stick it out of fear of change - wish and a prayer.

I realised today... Fairly or unfairly, I don't think I will ever be able to forgive ETH for buying Antony.

I'll always hold it against him.

When you have 11 losses in 14 games away vs the top 10 this explanation doesn't cut it

Antony was a target of both ten hag and Murtough, if he was bought for less than half the price it would be a lot more palatable.

I can't get over Murtough’s incompetence more than anything else really.

Yes lets continue to do what has not been working for us. We need to change the decision makers then I will be more comfortable changing the manager. I couldn't care less about salvaging this seaosn. Short term thinking has been another serious issue at this club. And you are obviously forgetting the last interim manager we hired and what happened.

The recruitment team should be losing their jobs

ETH is a huge part in that recruitment team. But yes, we know that recruitment has been the bane of our existence for the last 10 years and fortunately it’s going to be one of the first things changed at this club once Jim gets in.

The setup is the reason why we are as shit as we are going forward. Tactics. Instructions.

Unless you think personnel wise we should be ranked 19th in the league in goals scored?

We never ever threatened but hey we were in control

Doesn’t cut what exactly?
It was not an explanation for 14 games it was one for today. We were not good enough going forward and would have lost if we sat back and played for a 0-0 anyway because we are not good enough defensively and were missing players at the back.

I don't remember seeing a manager making the same mistake game after game.

He's either clueless or purely stubborn to a point where he will die on Mctominay hill. Makes no sense at all.

I did say last season that he was naive to the demands of the league and many did disagree but this backs it up.

I do think personnel wise we should be ranked bottom half at best. Also the post was talking about if we should have setup for a 0-0 vs what we did today. Follow the conversation for context. No one was saying we dont need to be better going forward from
a tactical perspective.

Watched Everton today and thought he'd be perfect for them. And that's not a knock on him, just that stylistically he'd be a better fit. Not sure if Antony starts over Harrison though.

This team looks like it doesn't even have a coach. It's just playing the same team every week, only making changes if forced to (like last week).
