Yes but all in context, Ole was in charge when maguire was signed for 80m, wan bissaka for 50m, sancho for 73m.
To be fair, the worst of that lot is Sancho and everyone here thought the negotiators had played a blinder waiting for Covid to make Dortmund's finances suffer.

Maguire was great under Ole, as he would have under Mourinho (whom I think initially targeted him), just completely unsuited to a more progressive style.

We've done far far worse in the last couple of years.

Probably. But weve had plenty of flops that looked on paper to be good buys. Di Maria, Lukaku etc. Sancho another. I agree Maguire was solid, similar to his form in recent weeks, but in retrospect was he actually a sensible signing? Was it as a part of any sort of long term strategy or club direction. Not really, unless we never intended to play progressive football. I like awb too, but the same questions and same limitations. Ten Hag has improved him massively but probably as far as it can go. I just dont see any clear vision that has linked the majority of our signings, especially the big money ones.

Why would there be one when we have gone from Moyes to LVG to Mourinho to Ole to Ten Hag?

The only consistent pattern was making popular statement signings for the sake of it (Pogba and Sancho, clearly) sprinkled with a lot of big name OAPs on a free or in difficult contractual/career situations: Falcao, Schweinsteiger, Matic, Ibra, Sanchez, Cavani, Varane, Cristiano, Casemiro. I don't list Di Maria as he was no OAP, but the opportunity emerged in similar circumstances.

Fit for sponsor ads > fit for football

yes its all part of the same problem. chaotic managerial appointments, woeful transfer strategy. Same mistakes over and over.

Fair, I agree with that definition. Just don't think we've hardly seen it since McTominay came into this role. Most of our wins have been some form of chaos.
Hes rumoured to be absent (mainoo) vs West Ham.

In any case I find this outlook of finding managers sackable if they don't play a certain player in a certain game quite nonsense.

We all get carried away with Mainoo, but forget he's JUST back after 2 prolonged injuries. I gather you'd want him to play vs Villa too which is on boxing day. 2 games in 3 days is not smart for a player just recently returning to games after lengthy injuries. If you were to pick one he suits the Villa game a lot more than West Ham (where a physical battle is more on the cards and probably suits McTominay, not least for his height).

Straight back to one DM plus McTominay and Bruno.

It’s gonna get him the sack.

He was a fecking disaster what are you talking about? He’s a terribly bang average footballer. Sunday 4th October 1-6 Spurs remember? He was bought July 2019 so when he was a calamity against spurs he had been with us 1 season and 2 months, when was this so called great period?.

It's a game of balance. We sacrifice defensive/midfield stability to create lots of chances and become a massive threat going forward.

Wait we've 18 goals this season and a negative GD?

So, let me get this straight. ETH wanted Kane, but we didn't even bother to make an inquiry since we couldn't afford his wages (due to FFP regulations, which also kind of explains why we went for Hojlund) because after having failed to secure FdJ's signature all summer long and with Ten Hag still desperate to bolster the midfield, the "committee" agreed to proceed with Casemiro. Whom they had initially rejected at the start of the transfer window with (valid) concerns about his age and the rather inevitable amortization of his transfer fee and his high wages. We would have liked Rice (lower wages, thus more room in the budget for a forward) but we knew that WHU didn't want to sell. Not only that, but we were more than happy to go into the season with Fred, McTominay and Eriksen as our midfield options (if the FdJ deal didn't materialize), Martial as the main striker and with no back-up for Sancho on the right wing. All this, despite the manager crying out for players in those positions. Why's that? Because, midway through the previous season, we realized we didn't like what RR was telling us, and we decided that the best course of action would be to waste 3–4 months until the new manager came in with his own proposals. Then, we got smashed in the opening two games of the new season and rushed to acquire the midfielder we had doubts about, to pay 86 million for a RW we had previously evaluated at 25 and to get Weghorst in January. Freaking Ricky Gervais couldn't come up with a sketch like that...
FFS the Kane thing again. It's like banging your head against a brick wall, only worse.

How many times.....Levy stated as clear as can be he would not sell Kane to a premier league club.

I fail to see how this is so hard for some to grasp. It had nothing to do with his wages etc. Man Utd just grasped what you and some others fail to.

The McTominay and Bruno combination in midfield is pushing towards me leaning ETH out for the first time.

Regardless if we win this fixture or not. He has seen so much evidence that McTom is not comfortable in possession and doesn't offer any midfield control.

He does not want to try something else. As far as I'm aware we have not seen Mainoo, Amrabat and Bruno yet. Which I think would at least be solid/functional at worst.

Kane? I have not gotten over Fergie's failure to get Ronaldinho. Give me another few more years before I get to Kane.

I don't think he'll get sacked but if it comes to that we don't need to look any further as to why than his midfield combinations.

I like that he’s given a young centre back a chance, even out of necessity. I don’t like that we’ve gone back to the same midfield that we know doesn’t work.

How disappointed you must be.
Nono, i was just assuming what could have happened. I want no negative things happen to utd. So today i won't "assuming" anything. Just offer my x-mas gift to charity if that could give Utd 3p today.

Yeah, that was a bad game. Shit happens, we had Rio watching City score 6 at Old Trafford too and that was a better side which lost out on the title for that day's goal difference.

Maguire was absolutely fine until we tried to press higher up the pitch, which is suicidal with Maguire as CB and De Gea as your goalkeeper. That doesn't make De Gea a terrible goalkeeper either, just not fit for that purpose.

His is stubbornness will get the best of him. I just can't stand his favouritism when picking the team, nor his inability to try correct the glaring obvious inbalance in the midfield

Relax, it's all in The Athletic report. Have a go at them, if you like. You can replace Kane with any "proven" forward you like, the gist of the article remains the same.

He can’t be serious if he thinks this brand of football is good enough

We’ve been absolutely shit all season and the football is the worst in the league

So he's now turned into Van Gaal in a bid to save his job and just bore his way through games hoping to avoid humiliation.

An absolute sickening appointment

You hope.
Well knowing our board they would have the audacity to probably argue that our injuries have been hampering ETH’s impact which is utter drivel as any team that is out on the pitch has to play according to a specific style but we have none.

He is such so clueless, keeps playing the same shit and never learns.

I've said it before but his football iq is extremely low for this level. He can't tell the difference the difference between a good and a bad footballer, and he can't seem to tell what his team needs at any given time.
