We have to settle on one manager eventually. We can’t keep changing every 18 months and expect success.

No we dont. Liverpool and City only settled on managers when they won major titles.

Bayern, Real and Barca the same.

Call him a fraud all you want but these players will get any manager the sack. The culture is all wrong. Ratcliffe needs to dismantle the whole thing which would include Murtough and Arnold.
Of the team tonight only 4 played under a previous manager, the idea that they're deliberately shit to screw the manager is absurd. Most of them aren't anywhere near good enough, including some that Ten Hag signed, and as a whole they're clearly not being properly coached because they go out with no clue of what they're supposed to be doing.

As long as the results stabilise to some extent and performances improve a bit then he probably deserves a chance to work as just a head coach rather than having so much else to do (whether by choice or not) under a better structure but he's been absolutely shit this season regardless of the culture and structures in place and things do need to start trending upwards.

Don’t worry, lads. Apparently, when Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw return, Ten Hag will turn us into prime Real Madrid overnight. It's the injuries, alright? If we didn't have them, we'd be able to defeat Newcastle B team at home.

Truly delusional.

Criticism has gone overboard now. A charlatan. A bluffer. A Pardew.

I've got serious doubts about his courage to do what needs to be done, but I am relieved that he benched Bruno and Rashford for two players more deserving of a place in the first XI. He has been massively let down by Dalot in this first half and he's having to field the centre back pairing of Lindelof and Maguire which obviously negates any chance of a high line or mobility in recovering ground for their counters.

For all the talk of it's the players letting him down again, only 4 in our starting 11 were here before him. The rest he either signed or promoted. Plus, he chose to keep faith in Dalot despite always being terrible.

In fact, some of our worst performers are his signings.

You know what, I hope he does leave. He's top coach who doesnt deserve to part of this shitshow.
He isn't. No top club would hire him. He will end up back at Ajax. (Apologies to Ajax fans for saying their not a top level club).

All clubs sack managers. This whole idea of "just stick with a manager for perpetuity" has little basis in reality.
Except from city and Liverpool, who have had their managers for 7 and 8 years each, backing them after initial dodgy periods. Hasn’t worked out badly for them.

Casemiro was brilliant last year, don't rewrite that.

But he has pissed home off the comments about not being able to play like Ajax. I don't feel like there's anything to believe in now.

Say we sack him tomorrow and bring in zidane. There’s an upturn in form for a few weeks, before the players again can’t be arsed. Sack zidane and repeat.

Ten Hag needs to be allowed to be seen as long term by these frauds, and if they don’t pull in the same direction then they’re the ones leaving and not him.

I agree, but as a serious club, how many more home defeats like City at the weekend, tonight or even Liverpool last season will it take to say it's not working? and not all to ETH's fault of course there are an abundance of other factors, but it's a results business and by that metric he's failing miserably.

He bought quite a few of them. Mount Antony and Casemiro for a cool 200m. Maybe that is on Murtough?

Antony's felt like the headline failure, but Mount especially just struck me as such a lazy signing. Finding value in the market isn't always easy but a manager in need of genuine spark or creativity with decent money at their disposal needs to be doing much better than that. Like the type of signing you make on a half-arsed FIFA or FM save when you can't be bothered and just plop for the first half-decent option who might be okay.

You know what, I hope he does leave. He's top coach who doesnt deserve to part of this shitshow.
If he can find another one team league where he can massively outspend everyone and have a once in a generation set of youngsters come through he’ll be grand.

Poor Ten Hag. We've dragged him to our level.

Or alternatively he's spent £400m lining the squad with deadwood to make us even worse than we started off with.

It’s a little bit the glazers, a little bit the players, a little bit injuries, a little bit bad luck. And now we have no momentum and the season is basically over, it’s hard to get any. We have to settle on one manager eventually. We can’t keep changing every 18 months and expect success.
You stick with a manager when there is clear progression and improvement. You don't stick with a manager when the team is going backwards after spending hundreds of millions of pounds.

So basically a little bit everything except Ten Hag.
I thought he made some bad decisions on Sunday, and i haven’t yet seen what it is he’s trying to do. He isn’t blameless. That doesn’t mean I want him sacked though.

I don’t disagree that these players will do it with every manager BUT that doesn’t mean we should turn a blind eye to the fact that his signings have largely been crap, his team selections and subs in particular lately have been all wrong and the players, with the best part of 7 months left of football, are throwing him under the bus. Do we let him stay, finish mid table and then what happens in the summer? We aren’t clearing out the majority of the squad and also I don’t trust his judgement on purchases!

The club is rotten top to bottom but as long as the Glazers are here, the best we can hope for is “the new manager bounce”

Why does he never complain about the refereeing? Go and shout at the useless cnut. You can shout at our soft, sloppy defenders and midfielders while you're at it.

Ten Hag isn’t good enough but he isn’t the problem.

You can all hope for a new manager in the morning and sure, we might win a few matches with new manager bounce so you get your short term endorphin hit.

But things will just go back to how they’ve been since 2013 after a few months. Rinse repeat.

The entire club needs a reset and it needed it yesterday.

No manager can ultimately dismiss an entire dressing room though. Like it or not lots of these players will be at the club for at least a couple of years to come. And no manager can survive a toxic dressing room or dreadful results forever. Major question is whether ETH is just a strong coach struggling to adapt or a genuinely world-class manager with the character and vision to overhaul the culture of the club and the playing squad while keeping things steady for the next season of two, all evidence thus far suggests the former is much more likely the case than the latter.

More like their C team

Yet you haven't blamed him one bit in these last few posts. Your argument for keeping him is "We can't sack more managers". We absolutely can and we will.

Don't think there is any mystery in who will replace him, Brexit Jim is in love with Potter. The question now is when. I'd say it will be after the Copenhagen game, so the new manager has a nice home win over Luton to show us all how ETH was clearly the problem overall.
You think we’ll beat Luton at home the way it’s going?

Not sure there is any manager in the world that could thrive under our ownership and culture. For what it's worth, I think Ten Hag is very good manager. He's proven that elsewhere. However he's not a director of football and shouldn't be making key recruitment decisions. Don't think he has an eye for talent in the way SAF did. Ultimately the players we have just aren't good enough.

See I don’t agree with this, we actually losta fair few games we were the better team in for me, after our horror start. Basically where I’m at is that sacking ETH is meaningless without a thorough investigation into our players and why this shit happens under every manager. At some point it’s more the players fault. We can’t keep repeating the same shit and expecting different.

I want ETH gone but if the likes of De Zerbi come here then their career will be over within 2 years too. I am certain of that. As long as these players are allowed be mediocre with no repercussions then every manager will fail here.

I don’t know he wouldn’t have spent 90m on Antony and 60m on a Bruno backup in Mount. It’s ETH’s main problem for me his transfers have been ridiculously bad.

On our last 37 games with have a goal difference of 0 by the way.

He looks completely out of his depth but this squad is absolutely shit. The whole club needs to be gutted on and off the pitch.

We have created virtually nothing at home this half and v City. Our attack is embarrassingly bad.

How many of those are run like a complete circus?

The Spanish ones are both backroom circuses.

All 5 club hierarchies would be days or weeks or maybe even minutes from sacking ETH with this rate of decline.

Erik signed 10 of the playing squad today and has given big new contracts to another 3 of them.

Think that a one way trip to amsterdam might be in order.

Back to Ajax for you Mr. Hag.

I know understand what the Blackburn fans felt when they had Steve Kean as their manager.. feck me.. this is the lower than I would have ever imagined.. a team incapable of playing football at all..

feck right off.

Because I don’t think he’s among the largest reasons for our poor season. How can he be when those 4 factors are having a direct impact on results?

The two greatest managers of this generation, both of whom had already proven themselves at the top level. Try again.
