Which would indicate that the recruitment team aren't doing their job or are getting walked all over by ETH.

You're just deflecting the blame. If the recruitment team signed the players they scouted and told Ten Hag to get on the job and coach the players he has instead of dictating transfers, you and others will be here moaning that the club doesn't back the coach.

These are his signings. He'll be blamed for their down fall like the previous managers. He wasted ton of money on players that most of them look like duds.

have a browse of the injury list. Add to that the fact our performances have not been as bad as is being made out there’s nowhere near a crisis.
Brighton beat us with their own team suffering injuuries, it's not the excuse you think you it is. We've lost 3 on the bounce, all conceeding way too many goals.

The Mount money could have been used to get Lavia or any other CM that has legs. Amrabat was signed on the last day so it was clear that he wasn't a priority and we wouldn't really have signed him if we had failed to sell Henderson. Our best signing is a loanee from Spurs.

He literally thought that he could have made the midfield of 1 ageing CM and 3 attacking mids work. If the idiots in charge of the club give him any more money to waste then just shut the club before the next season starts.

Theoretically, how many of these does he have to lose for us to make a switch?

Burnley A
Crystal Palace H
Crystal Palace H
Galatasaray H
Brentford H
Sheff Utd A
Copenhagen H
Manchester City H

That’s a great run to turn things around, but that run of six home games out of seven will get very toxic if things don’t immediately change.
The run is coming!

He is not good enough. We make the same mistakes over and over again. Teams have literally been walking through our midfield for the best part of a year under him.

He also needs to show some balls and drop Bruno for the weekend game.

Don't think, I noticed any particular mistakes from him today. Pellistri was off but it is hardly his fault when there wasn't really an alternative. The result doesn't reflect the game but I don't think, there were systematic problems today. Bayern players individually better than us in certain situations and overall more determined (which kind of sucks).

I'm not deflecting blame but placing blame where it belongs.

You've created a hypothetical scenario to supplement your argument (aka a strawman). I'd be thrilled if we had a proper DOF and let the coach actually focus on coaching the team.

I agree that some of the signings were made purely because ETH wanted them, however I don't think that can be used to blame him because he should never have been allowed that much influence in the first place. The blame (and praise) for all transfers should land at the feet of the Glazers, Arnold, and Murtough.

Realistically that's 7 winnable games. Lose any 3/4 of those and he will be looking at the exit door.

Saying that I can see what he's trying to do, especially in the 2nd half we improved, so I'm praying (and I'm sure EtH is too) that our injury returnees make a difference especially the midfield, Eriksen & Case is up there with McFred now.

I have to laugh at anyone wanting Ten Hag sacked. The fickle nature of football fans always gives the executive level an easy out.

What an idiotic signing Mount was. Completely fecked up our transfer window.

He needs to hire a coach who can help with defensive structure.
And he needs to listen to the scouts instead of just signing whoever he wants or players who have played in the ND.
Firing him isn’t going to change anything. It’s not like we have a CEO or DoF with a fabulous record of hiring managers.

I have backed ETH completely so far. But after Brighton I said we can't play Eriksen and Casemiro together in centre mid. And you can clearly, very very, clearly see they keep getting overrun... crazy to see ETH persist with Eriksen there. To make matters worse Rashford on the left doesn't track back. How is that going to work?

How can I support this? Sigh.

We are fecked. We are cursed. We are fecking cursed.

But who else are we going to play? The player we got to replace Eriksen is injured.

Feel sorry for him. He's at the right club at the wrong time. Going to be a slog for Ten Hag this season, he must be tearing his hair out at some of the performances.

Only two away games, and they're against shite teams. Really should be winning at least 6 out of 8 from that lot

People here moan all the day that the club doesn't back the managers with their first options so actually no it's not hypothetical. Some of you are ready to blame anyone for the club's failing except the manager. If we had forced players on him, people would have moaned.

This is a moot point. These are his players. I don't care about what the recruitment team should have done. I care about what actually happened, which is that his ideas about reinforcing the team suck and his options in the market are godawful every year.

I’m convinced by Christmas we’re going to be formidable if we can get all our main players fit, still not sure on onana, but we have had really bad start to the season with injury’s and not getting all our signings in when we needed it. If we can get that midfield sorted in front of defence I think we will improve

Well who do we play .. throw in the kids .?
We should have maybe played with 433 and added 1 more midfielder there..
Ohh wait didn't we do that against Brighton

The most basic change to make is Mejbri for Eriksen. I don't expect Mejbri to control the game or create chances or anything really. The first order of business is shore up the defense and midfield. Teams are just walking thru us. So getting legs in there to track back and put bodies in the way is first thing to do for a struggling team like us.

Pellistri another change (which he did). Again I don't expect him to create or score. But I first want energy and legs in there to create a difficult to score against team.

And then bring on Garnacho sooner to also add legs and work rate to the team.

Notice I didn't say McT anywhere? Cuz he isn't good enough and also doesn't look like he wants to be here, which is part of the problem with the set up against Brighton.

Doesn't seem to have a plan after the energy levels drop after the 20 minutes. Maybe Mount will help keep the pressing going. Team really needs a goal in that period.

The Burnley game is big for the trajectory of our season. Sadly for us it's away from home.

We should win most of these games which would alleviate the pressure from him till we meet City. Any negative result in such piss easy run will be ridiculous. These are all winnable even in our current state.

Lost a little confidence it the manager in all honesty. Not really the results but the lack of performances. Hard to assess what is the long-term directive. How does the manager intend to build on this team going forward ? Signings only make up for 50%, the other half is the instructions / tactical input. Really poor.
This is the problem I have. I remember when Jurgen Klopp was struggling at Liverpool when he first got there, I begrudgingly could see the direction they were going, what they were trying to achieve. I have no idea what the long term direction is for this team. He's spent nearly €500 million and it's just a somewhat steadier version of Ole's team. He's been backed enough that it shouldn't be this bad. At the same time, I think it's the club where the problem lies. Not set up to succeed.

Anyone defending ETH must realize this. Casemiro's drop in form was evident by the end of last season. Buying Mount is very strange.

Won't blame him for individual player mistakes, I will blame him for picking those shit players again and again, and going with the easier and cowardly option.

To me he's like a bald Michael Schumacher who has been told to build his own car because the Ferrari engineers have all been replaced by accountants and youth team coaches.

players are also coming back from injury as well
A big September and October coming up

Poor with subs once more. Why wait so long to change a knackered and inefficient Pellistri or Eriksen? Garnacho with like 12 mins to play?

Needs to win almost everything before the City game at this point. Cant drop more than 2 points to Burnley, Palace, Brentford and Sheff United and should obviously be winning both CL ties.

If we lose a couple of those league games and then get mobbed by City he'll be on the precipice.

This man is a magician. Imagine dealing with such shit luck and still looking competitive in some big games.

The repetitive nature of how we concede and fail to create chances are becoming to consistent now. Unlike the dark final days of Ole where we were just getting bummed from all angles, here we are usually playing ok but the gaps and the goals we concede are all identical almost. We must be so easy to set up and play against.
He has injuries to deal with but look at the amount of goals we concede and how little we score.
Purchases have been poor.
My hopes for ETH have almost dwindled away, much like the turn with Ole. Given the amount we concede I don’t think he will get as long as Ole.
Gone after a hiding at City.

The only people who will think we were competitive today are those who didn't watch the game.

Most shocking decision of the day.
After Brighton game he is giving minutes to McT instead to Mejbri. Why? Not saying that Mejbri is something special all of sudden but kid had a decent game 4 days ago while McT was utter shit.

At some point if I'm going to keep supporting him he has to make adjustments. Just playing the same system, trying to press high with players that can't do it, and sticking with a midfield 3 of Bruno/Eriksen/Case is a recipe for disaster. He needs to show that he's actually a class manager and adapt to what he has currently, or at least try to.

I won't go into his signings so far as that's a whole other issue, but Mount and Varane returning won't magically make this system work (unless he's going to try benching the entire midfield that played tonight).
