Eric Dier | Poch: “He is an important player for us and the idea is not to sell him."

Do you want United to sign Eric Dier?

I hope you sign him. It'd be a pyrrhic transfer triumph - paying a vast sum to steal a fecking water carrier from a team that finished above you and are outgrowing their need for him anyway.

He'll be the kind of player Mourinho loves - The same way he loves Fellaini for his anti-footballling virtues.

It'd be grand if Dier was his vision for how to evolve your current side.
Fiorentino Perez, is that you?

He is not a 40m player. He does a pretty neat and basic job, and plays for a fully functioning team with players that are better than him around him. He would look better in our midfield than a finished Carrick or Fellaini, but thats not saying much. He does a bit of everything without doing something excellently and i dont know how much that is due to a good Spurs side. I would take him for 20-25m and thats about it, because i am pretty sure you can find someone in Italy/Germany/France/Portugal for less or similar money doing what he does. I would walk away instead of dealing with Spurs.

Exactly. Time for our new scouts to earn their keep rather than spend a summer haggling with Levy for an overrated water carrier.

He was fine when our midfield 2 was a 35 year old Carrick and a 19 year old CB in his second ever PL game, once Herrera came on he was less effective.

Let's just offer Spurs 100m for Dier and Alli.

Midfield sorted.

Don't think Levy would accept actually.

Why not trust and develop players like Martial etc? If he has all this potential why not try to utilise his strengths to get a similar output Alli does? Or isn't he capable of that in your opinion?

Levy would be wanting at least 100m for Alli alone.

Then he's going to have to pay him £100m wages if he wants to keep him.

Not antagonizing off of your point, but that reality is going to set in among Spurs players. Impossible to both price him out of the market for sale, and pay him as though he's worth a quarter of that price.

I agree completely.

If Jose wants to get rid of Shaw/Smalling/Jones with Carrick/Rooney/Young close to retiring too...then he might need a few more English players in the squad.

I don't watch Spurs so I can't comment on the boy as a footballer.

Yes he's more than capable but they play in different positions.

In tomorrow's Sun there are claims that he wants out. I'd be very happy if we signed him for a region of £40million.

He's a United fan apparently, make of that what you will...

So are Joe Allen and Gylfi Siggursson and that doesn't stop them from scoring against us :(.

But then so is John Terry which might explain his miss in Moscow :)

I think hes on about £70k a week so I suspect he wants more money ... ultimately I guess he may move to get that if spurs now see him as back up right back, back up centre back and back up midfielder and £40m may be too good an offer to turn down but my gut feel is he signs a new deal at spurs on more money

He doesn't count as homegrown so I don't see the point in signing him when we can get a similar player abroad for half the price.

I'm sure there is a rule that if you have a British passport you are homegrown. Otherwise it's a stupid flaw.

In the official Premier league squad he isn't considered as Home grown player.

There isn't. Home grown is counted as being brought up in English football and playing here for 3 years before 21

Convinced now that we'll get Dier and Walker will end up at City. Just a hunch that they are probably two expendable players for Spurs that'd generate good income.

Would be perfect. Get Dier this summer and his best mate Alli the next.

At any price? I doubt very much we will sell Dier unless it's a staggering amount. I'm saying this being pretty sure the Walker deal is done.

I'd be OK with signing him as long as it's a long-term strategy in convincing Alli to join :wenger:

I feel like football deserves to see Pogba and Alli as a midfield pairing backed up by a defensive midfielder
