Really good start. He's very comfortable on the ball and a physical monster, but I still feel his style will end up with a couple of crazy challenges and maybe one or two misplaced passes or losing the ball high up the field. Looks a real talent.

More than likely due to his inexperience. Key will be that he learns from it. If he continues to progress he'll become a fantastic player.

Fecking AFCON. His national side is pretty good also, isn't it? Might be away for a while.

His passing is an absolute asset. His gung-ho style defending doesn't equate to a lack of technique on the ball. Any mistake made will likely come from being overly physical.

nonsense

This guy distribution has been very good, he's found some very good risky passes and pulled them off. Based on the few games he's had with us, his distribution is one of the attribute of him furthest from average.
no, he's not really good he found some nice passes but also set up counter attack with one of his risky passes.. his long passing is surely average...

He's a good passer when it comes to short passing but I count it as good ability on the ball. It's more about his great composure and how he turns with the ball..

We will see how he develops further in that department but he's just not very good passer in my opinion even though it may seem quite apparent.

I said it in a different thread but I think he'll be our signing of the summer. Extremely premature without having seen any of Pogba and next to nothing of Mkhitaryan, but he just has that feel about him.

I meant them as two separate issues. His gung-ho style will result in needless fouls, but his absolutely chilled-out, composed nature (which is impressive) may cause mistakes at times. Over-confidence and such. Like @ThanksBoss26 says, it's something he'll have to grow out and learn from if it does happen.

I'd suggest you either rewatch the game or simply pay closer attention next time. His passing is fantastic.

Apparently he picked up an injury v Leicester, still fit enough to play a fantastic 90 minutes today.

Absolute BEAST.

Love him

Plays a rough style and is likely to give fans a heart attack, but so far he always seems to come out on top

Way too early to tell. He pinged the ball around nicely today largely but a couple of the longer ones went astray. Herrera is a good short passer and good on the ball, he's not like Carrick or Blind though and it might be a similar case with Bailly. His passing is adequate and he's confident on the ball, can't really say much more than that at this stage.

Best match from him today. None of the rashness or taking unwise chances, just no nonsense excellent defending. Looks great with a solid physical presence on the right side with Valencia. Could definitely see him captaining us soon.

Unbelievable. If ever there was a Mourinho player its a guy who gets injured doesn't tell anyone, picks up MOTM and then is ready to go in time for the next match, where he again is the man of the match.

Ok, I'm going to ask you, are you sure we're talking about the same games Baily has played because if so we're clearly seeing different things.

In fact he tend to go for harder and trickier pass and pull them off more often than not. It's his passing that's surprising people and when people get surprised about someone's passing it's not because they're pulling short passes or something like that. It's simply because he's demonstrated his range of passing which is clearly far above average.

i think we're clearly seeing different things. He is both good on the ball and especially good at passing going by his few games with us.

His passing has been over-stated a tad on here, and I agree that it's his composure that seems to be his biggest strength when he has the ball, but you're being a bit harsh on him here. His passing was good today. Nothing special, but still solid.

He'll get sent off twice a season, but he's fecking brilliant.

Yep, you just get the feeling that he has the tendency to commit easily at times, but he has the athleticism and the physicality to pull it off. However, he could potentially be exposed against a top notch forward, but he is young and has plenty of time to improve his decision making and add that bit of maturity to his game. Looked great in the past two games and well deserved MOTM awards imo.

Never understood the obsession with ball playing defenders. I want my CB to be:

1) Big fecker
2) Good at defending

Bailly is both. Stones is neither.

Brilliant again. Composure with the ball at his feet, can bit a bit rash when its not but still fantastic.

I'm really really impressed with him for someone who's so young and only played 50 games in La Liga.

You're essentially saying he has the ability but it's his judgement/decision making needs fine-tuning. That's easy to agree as he's so young and new to the club and league.

However, I'd be happy for him to continue his confident/riskiness (delete when appropriate basically) passing because it's better to pass out from the back into a central area (so that player can turn and open the pitch) than another pass to the fullback or hoof ball. There's too many safe passes like that in our game already. It may be the safe option but in the long term we will not improve for it.

Look at De Gea, he's just not confident (and/or has not eceived instructions) to play it out from the back anymore, it's just hoof. If he can learn to trust Bailly, Blind, Valencia and Shaw more, who are all more than capable of receiving a pass under pressure and do something with it, we will become much more of a threat. People need to understand a team doesn't just suddenly have the ball in the midfield areas and are able to play intricate through balls, triangles and free flowing attacking football. It has to start somewhere (consistently) not just from 2nd balls, interceptions, long ball knock downs etc.

Impressed me every game I have seen him play so far. Will turn out a bargain with todays prices and be one of the signings of the season I think. He will make a few errors and possibly major ones I think this season, but I think he has everything apart from experience....pace, strength, aerial ability, comfortable on the ball.

I am already convinced after just a few games, he will be a great signing for us, as big a signing at centre back as Shaw shall be as a left back.

He'll get a lot of soft yellows for his enthusiastic physicality. In the Sheild he had a noticeable tendency to go full throttle into some harmless 50/50 shoulder barges. But with a bit of experience under his belt, that could end up being a good thing.

It's only been two games, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a defender from Spain settle into the PL so completely effortlessly. Let alone get 2 MOTMs in his first 2 games!

This guy is special. It's looking like he's going to be a sensational signing for us. If Rio and Vidic had a baby Bailly would be the result. On a serious note though he was so good for us today once again. Fully deserved his second MOTM in a row. It's like he's been playing in England for years. The lad has everything. Probably get sent off for us a few times this season so lets hope it doesn't cost us too much. Hopefully he can get that side of his game ironed out before then. Phenomenal signing Jose, well done.

Yep, even against Bournemouth there were a few instances where he was tip toeing around the line - the one where he fouled the opposition player after the ref blew the whistle and the scissor kick which wasn't penalised. Not exactly straight yellow card offenses but he could get a yellow for persistent fouling etc.

It's great to have a hard bastard at the back though.

He just put a post on instagram where Ibra called him Kunta Kinte at the end. Extremely uncomfortable with that

This, but add 3) fast. Bailly is all three. Good game today - he'll rack up a fair few yellows but he'll learn.

He was incredibly lucky to get away with the first one and I can only assume the ref didn't see it. Definitely a yellow card.

Yeah I caught that. Not sure what to think really. It looked like Bailly found it funny,if he didn't why would he post it? Maybe it's an inside joke or maybe he doesn't know the reference. Either way it's not something you really want made public (if its a joke between them) as it will undoubtedly cause controversy. While if it is Zlatan being an ass then well... what an ass...:(

Considering it was a shout out to his family, Kunta Kinte might be some in joke. Seems a bit random to throw a Kunta Kinte reference in there. He does look like him in fairness. It seems way to out of the blue to not have a back story behind it.

Bailly wouldn't upload the video if it was offensive. I think he's already developed a special relationship with Zlatan shown by the training pics and him always being around him. The chemistry this team has is really high.

He was quality today. He looks a real athlete and is smart in his play. If he only gets better from here then £30m was a steal.

I don't believe we watched the same game. His long ball passing was excellent. I only saw him give the ball away once.

Looks like who? The actor who portrayed him?
