EPL Title Race 20/21

I'm going to basically refuse to believe it unless we're still in it after 30 games. What this run showed me though is that Liverpool can't keep up good form over the season with their injuries, so we have a genuine shot at finishing above them.

I do think that City will get consistency in the 2nd half of the season though. Yes we're top by 3 points if we win our game in hand, but they'll have 2 games by then, so they can be just 1 behind us.

Need to beat City and Liverpool twice and there'll be a shot, also a winter signing to bolster the squad might be a boost.

How great is it just to be properly involved again. So many positives right now.

RAWK crying about how the league is being fixed for us to win.

It’s going to be awkward for them when City win it.

I wouldn’t really say there is a favourite right now. Neither City nor Liverpool look overly convincing, while we’re still relatively inexperienced and have question marks over our consistency. I can’t see a realistic challenge from anyone else.

It’s wide open.

City clear favourites right now due to their squad depth and experience, but we're certainly in the conversation and rightfully so.
We have a better squad right now imo. We can literally field a team with 9 changes and people would argue its our better side.
City cant score enough these days.

Whats all this City talk about, they played good like last 2 games and suddenly they'll run away with it?

Burnley game is huge actually. Win that and prove our credentials. Everything can change really quickly but PL is so exciting this year. Liverpool, United, Leicester, Spurs, City, all in the mix right now.
I don't think any team will run away with it, I'm surprised the gap has shortened between City/Liverpool and the rest though.

United are in it, but I still think City's squad depth and experience matters when the games come thick and fast.

I agree with that. Man. City were only drawing at home to West Brom two weeks ago or whenever it was so while they were fantastic yesterday still need to do a little bit more to convince imo.

Man. United are certainly hot now and given you've got Burnley, Fulham and Sheffield United in January this is your chance to get a few points clear and really put the pressure on other teams to keep up.

Actually srub that....just had a look at Man. City's January games and they'll be winning pretty much all of them (think they'll beat us about 3-0).

At the start of Feb though they have Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal.

Liverpool now seem to be mortal. We won't need to be a freak 90+ points team to beat them to the title which is good news because we'll still be relatively inconsistent unless we strengthen in the January window. City are actually the bigger threat now.

City will be in the mix by the end of Jan. They have a pretty easy fixture coming up, their toughest game this month is Aston Villa.

By the end of Jan the table will look very interesting.

Because we cant convince ourselves we have a fantastic chance to win the league so its always someone elses to lose.

Next 6 league fixtures for City, United, and Liverpool:
City - Brighton, Palace, Villa, @ West Brom, Sheffield, @ Burnley
United - @ Burnley, @ Liverpool, @ Fulham, Sheffield, @ Arsenal, Southampton
Liverpool - United, Burnley, @ Spurs, @ West Ham, Brighton, City

Slight edge to City with that group of matches. Makes the 17th massive.

Liverpool have a dip in form but they are still playing fantastic football. With Thiago around they'll be getting close to 80% of possession, so once they score first, they will be out of reach.

One thing is, I doubt they can sustain that energy for the entire season. This game vs Southampton has been insanely intense.

City don't look convincing to me. They've found a gold formula for defending though.

When was this?

If you consider hoof and cross fantastic, then yes.

Surely ED needs to open the motherfecking wallet now.

And do what exactly? We are strong and have depth in literally every area. It’s not always signings signings.

Unless any serious injuries occur, we have enough until the summer I think.

It's because they have the highest potential out of all the sides, and if they win their games in hand would be just 1 point behind us. No telling if they'll be consistent or be more of the same this season, but I just think they'll find a run of consistency in the 2nd half of the season. They've shown they're capable of it every year for the past few years with Pep. They go through struggle games but also have games where they blow the opposition out of the water, no matter the opposition. United seems to struggle through every game and we almost never have a nice and normal win. We can't keep that up forever.

I refuse to get carried away, if we're still within 3 pts 10 games from now i might start believing.

I really hope we beat Burnley and turn the scousers over and end their home record just to see the reaction on RAWK when we're 6pts ahead of them!

If we can remain top, or within a point or two off top of the table by the end of January - then I fancy us.

I feel Bruno's drive will be so important.

After Liverpool played 17 games last season and United 16 we were 25 points behind. 25! I'm getting on the hype train it's been too long

We beat Burnley and we're 1st. Just imagine we pip Liverpool at Anfield. The amount of confidence and belief after that would be overwhelming.

City are the real worry for me. They're picking up form and their defence looks good. Not much pressure on them and they're just going about things quietly.

I am very optimistic that if we can get to top of the table once that might trigger some unity and change of mentality in our team even more. Though our come backs this season show we have mental strength but it is about coping with the pressure of title race.

i also think hat we will not play as badly in 2nd half of season as we did in the first half and that puts us in a v good position. In a other season playing as badly in 1st half would have put us out of games completely.
Lastly, we have a massive chance. Hope we can make an inspirational signing like a CB for example.

If United had played that same Liverpool team today we would have smoked them 6 love with the chances that they let Soton have. We are much better than people give us credit for. Title race on

I'll really start believing if we win our next two games in the league.

We aren't even at the half way stage of this league season. For me I'd wait until about 25 games played before saying which team is favourites, I just hope Man United are in the mix by then.

Everyone scared of City? They ain't all that, they will drop more points. It's not between us, Liverpool, and City. It's open season, anyone of the top 7 (as it stands right now) could win it if they find a great run of form.

Next two games decide if we are potential contenders. Burnley to see if we can handle being league leaders and Liverpool to see if we can fend off the completion.

Surely we are in the race now? Liverpool lost and has the same number of pts as us, with one more game. If we are not in the race, who the hell is in it?

I dont know pal, 25 games is still too early for me to call favorites, think we should wait till 37 games.
