How many balls are going straight through the gate. Honestly, it’s embarrassing.

Anyone recall Cummins' debut? I vaguely remember it but I recall his action was different, and bowling was a lot more about speed. Or my memory's playing tricks.

Probably, he had about 400 stress fractures after that debut.

Yeah, in 2011 as an 18 year old, changed his action since then after injury after injury and now lost a few kms but gained more control.

He'll probably be out just before lunch but Denly's probably secure in the team for now, after the last two matches.

Don’t know if Roy is save for the next test match, he did pass 20 twice which I believe is only the 4th time it has happened this series (Burns, Denly & Bairstow)

He's had about five years of his career cut out due to injuries and has had to change his action to compensate.

Edit: ok I see others have already pointed it out. You may as well read it again one more time though.

Conversations like this always brings out people who read a few news articles and don't watch actual matches.

Jadeja at home:
28 matches, 144 wickets at 19.7 and an economy of 2.2

Ashwin at home:
37 matches, 234 wickets at 22.7 and an economy of 2.8

Ah, yes, the classic "I watch more cricket than you" line. Well played.

Stats aren't the only thing you need to look at. On the same espncricinfo stats page, do look at people above and below Jadeja. Narendra Hirwani (from a different era) is listed above on average. Similarly, Kumble, Kapil Dev et al are listed below Jadeja, again on average. Does this mean Jadeja is better than them all? Surely even you won't believe that!

Anyway, if you feel Jadeja is likely to go down in history as one of the greats in Indian conditions, more power to you!

I wish this Ashes test ends does a similar manner as the previous one - right down to the last half hour with Aussies winning. Hate for this one to be a draw.

I added a few filters to the list you're looking at it - it wouldn't make sense to look at Hirwani because he played just a handful of matches. All spinners and a minimum of 50 wickets taken, home matches.

Jadeja played 28 matches and I am certain he played he played all his matches with Ashwin at the other end, and averages better. If you think Ashwin is in the conversation for the greats of Indian cricket(which you appear to because you picked out Jadeja from my post and not Ashwin), Jadeja certainly is. It is extremely unlikely that there's a confounding variable that misrepresents Jadeja's stats because we're looking at the same conditions in which Ashwin took his wickets in - and both bowl in the same phases of the game more or less. I don't think Jadeja is better than Ashwin - they have different strengths, but his numbers put him in the conversation for a debate.

Is Jadeja better than Kumble? Kumble did it for far longer than Jadeja or Ashwin, and at home with often a lesser pace attack - so I don't think the two are comparable, and I did not watch enough of Kumble to comment. Is he better than Kapil? I have no idea - I did not see Kapil bowl at home. Jadeja and Ashwin are both very comparable in terms of output - and it is widely accepted that Ashwin is a great. It is not a coincidence that Jadeja was ranked #1 in the ICC test bowling rankings.

It will be another tremendous effort if England somehow manage to survive this game with a draw.

That close up of the smiling boy's face for 5 seconds was one of the most awkward moments I've ever watched on TV. Creepy as feck.

Paine is captaining like a coward and "strike" bowler Mitch Starc cannot land 6 balls in the same spot.

England just have to survive Cummins and Hazelwood and a draw is very possible.

I stopped watching at lunch. How’s it going?

That new ball is going to be a problem if we can make it through till then.

That was literally the worst umpiring I have ever seen. He needs to be fired immediately.

That review was too funny. Clearly hit inside edge as you can tell by the way the ball moved

But if impact was in line he would have been given out

No.... that honour has to go to that umpire in the first test, something like 8 decisions over were turned (players were reviewing his decisions without even thinking about it:lol:) but he went on to umpire in the third test.

How do they determine the finish? Reach 90 overs and then end play when light dips below a certain threshold?

For the sake of the final test, here's hoping England save this.

The feck was that appeal, reaching Giles' level of annoying.

Took Paine too after tea to have fielders around the bat.

Smith taking over captaincy again cannot come quick enough
