English cricket thread

Roy, Burns and Stokes could have all easily shelved those shots for this session.

Woeful. Three of these wickets were avoidable, but some criminal shots here when we're under the pump.

The worst thing is that there is so much talent in the batting line up. Obviously there’s a couple of crucial spots that are weaker, but it’s unfortunate that all of our most talented batsman don’t seem to have the mindset for test cricket or are so out of form.

I wouldn’t even bet against us rallying a bit then just collapsing again at around 150.

Someone will have to explain this collapse to me as I don’t understand why england are so pathetic this morning!!

I don't understand how you can bat like this with the Ashes on the line. No appetite, no plan.

A word for Australia too. Looks like they are a player or two away from being dominant in this format.

Buttler should just go out and attack here. That's his natural game and if he just pokes and prods, he'll get out.

I'm afraid this has been coming for years now.

The focus has been put so much onto the white ball success that England simply do not possess genuine Test Match format batsmen any more.

The one that they had they have wrecked by making him Captain and shuffling him around the order.

I guess the management will be reasonably happy after the success of the one day teams but this is the main reason for the batting being shambolic at Test level.

Jason Roy, test opener. Yeah right what a great idea.

And another one has gone typing this out.

Could be worse... if the Aussies had bowled in yesterday's conditions we'd have been all out for 20.

Jofra Archer made a big deal yesterday about how tired he was and about how he was looking forward to a day off today.

He's going to be back bowling by about half 2.

It boggles my mind on these occasions where you see a bigger collapse in a test innings than a limited overs innings. It just doesn’t seem like something that should be possible and yet we see it fairly often.

We'll be all out for less than 100. Then Warner will crash a century against tired bowlers. They'll have a lead of 250 tonight.
