Feels worth noting that Archer took 6-45 without bowling that quick. He's not just fast, he's quite clever and quite accurate at times.
So is Archer on a hattrick, across three overs and two innings?
I'd bring in Carey as keeper and Starc for Hazelwood.
Smith still banned from captaincy for a while yet, as part of the sandpaper punishment.
Not sure who is captain would be, but that person can be an on field puppet for Smith, much like Paine is.

Good day for England in the end. We had a bad hour after the tea break but Archer's brilliance dragged it back. We've got an amazing chance now.
Smith at three followed by Labuschagne would take some beating. The latter has impressed me a lot.
Probably about 50 runs too late.
Still not convinced we've actually done that good a job today despite Archer's rescue act. Australia are well in this still.
That's a really good team. I'm neutral about Paine - he averages decently and is a great keeper. If dropping him, I'd give Carey a go.
It does feel like Australia dodged a '60 all out' type of day. England will hope it doesn't nip as much and the pitch flattens out in the sun.
Yeh. That Warner and Labushagne partnership wasn’t the best bowling by us. Woakes and Stokes leaked too many runs. Probably let them get 30-40 too many runs yesterday
Hopefully the overhead conditions will be a lot more benign and batting a lot easier. Great opportunity to go on and get a game winning lead today.
Tbf, a huge part of that was Australia massively riding their luck. There was a good cricviz stat yesterday:
That really should have been a match winning day, but with our batting who knows. Even if we get a lead of around a hundred I don't have much faith in us chasing too many in the fourth innings.
I think we've had a good day all-told, winning two of the three sessions and bowling them for maybe 70-80 runs below par on that pitch. The conditions could have been conducive for a total blow-out but on the other hand the rain made it tougher to keep momentum going. Batting should be easier today so unless we sell ourselves short (very possible unfortunately) we should be able to put ourselves on top in the match.
For once someone's made a rash prediction and it isn't me!
Had the same though myself to be honest. It did have that kind of feeling. Had Australia even made 250 it would have been really difficult for us. You've got to add 50 runs for the Lyon factor.
Let's hope we can get 350 in this innings. If we blow it from here, we don't deserve the Ashes.

Yeah we had a mad 45 minutes after tea and it cost us about 40 runs. Had we got them out for 140 it would probably have been about par for the conditions.
To be fair we bowled well apart from that post-tea shambles. It can be tricky to control the swing (at least that's what the experts say) and we didn't bowl too much loose stuff really.

Haha. Looked like he could get out every ball in that first Hazelwood over didn't he. Has played a couple of good shots in the latest over though so hopefully that'll settle him down.
