English cricket thread

Gave a lot of people my now tv access over the last few months but didn’t think that it would be a test match when I would get locked out myself

Has anyone suggested bowling at the stumps yet?

What is this bowling & where is the new ball?!

Tongue having the 3rd highest score reflects poorly on the collective batting effort there, needed one more innings of substance from somewhere.

Fecking finally. The first ball at the stumps and it’s out. What a waste of an hour.
 It’s been really bizarre tactics from Cummins and Co for most of today’s play to be honest.

But fair fecks to him, they’re 2-0 up.

Crawley got strangled, Root, Brook, and Pope all got good balls. Bairstow switched off but it was still an unfortunate way to go.

Only really Broad and Robinson got themselves out, and Broad did at least hang around for a very long time. Still, it's those two who would be feeling the most disappointed.

Well done to Australia. Definitely the better of the 2 teams so far.
England have been their own worst enemy. Too many mistakes unfortunately.
Barstow looks pissed. Should be with himself.

England gotta bring some pace, drop either of Anderson or Broad. Move Bairstow up somehow.

Fun series so far. Should be 1-1 but that's our own fault. Can't see us winning it now but let's hope it goes 2-1 at Headingley for the drama
.

But if he hadn't stuck men on the fence, Stokes would have continued hitting boundaries and twos and three where he wanted, and England would have got closer and closer. They were not bizarre tactics at all. They were excellent tactics.

He eventually bored Stokes into submission and it worked.

There were two posters on here who were talking about Cummins being sacked as captain and Smith being reinstated, but Cummins ultimately did what Australia failed to do the last time Stokes made them look silly.

Australia hands down have been better. I expected them to win but I didn't expect them going 2-0 ahead.

I said to my mates on WhatsApp when Stokes was going off it was probably 50 to many due to the lack of batters and the tail to come pretty much Bob on, good thing about this is we've been in every match so far, which shows we are very close to the best team in the world and the only real difference to me is the quality of the bowling for the Aussies if we had Cummins and Starc we'd be winning 2-0

Not really sure why this Ashes has become so bad tempered, there’s been some interesting moments but none of them have really been that contentious I feel.

The Bairstow run out is such a shame. Australia were on top for 90% of the game and were on course for a deserved win, yet the run out means it will always be tarnished with the question of whether or not they actually would have won it without cheating...

Straussie said he wouldn’t have withdrawn the appeal. Done dealio
I don’t really understand the argument. He said it wasn’t premeditated but why else would Carey have thrown it before Bairstow started moving. Of course it was premeditated.

As I said at the start of the series, this English team shouldn't be treated like the underdogs. Cummins is not a progressive captain and almost gave the game away.

On a sidenote, that Bairstow runout is plain cheating. He didn't even run to be given runout.

I thought he captained that pretty well?
