English cricket thread

A friend of mine who used to play cricket at a decent level sent me this, is it valid anyone know?

It's not been picked up by the TV but for the Duckett dismissal, Carey placed himself down the legside before the ball was bowled which made him the 3rd fielder behind square which should have been a no ball.

Nas mentioned it on commentary but no way would the umpires call that

No he's the fecking wicket keeper. And TV did talk about it.

They had Cummings at the crease

Yeah, sending Boland ahead resulted in same but that's also just one end. In any case, it is a given that Oz tail is slightly better than England this series especially with Starc back in the team. If England had Ali, it would be much different.

A few of us called out the long tail at the start of this Test. Not why we lost, but didn't help.

Our side next test should have far better balance with Wood and Ali back in.

That is clutching at straws, is wicketkeeper considered part of the rule?

Hazlewood celebration a bit weird. 2019 was epic and he’s just smacked you round again today?

Who are you dropping for Wood and Ali? Robinson and Anderson? Tongue looked good this match or at least better than others

Those are the two I would drop. Certainly Anderson, with huge respect for everything he has done for us over the years.

Could be 5-0 this series. Aussies a lot better, but stokes is so so dangerous. Such a great player.

BazBall not doing a lot for England's unbeaten home record against them.

England fans get too obsessed with shite like that wicket and not focus on the problems with the team.

Fair enough as I said it was sent to me, but isn't the keeper still classed as a fielder in the laws but its clutching for sure

27.1 Protective equipment

The wicket-keeper is the only fielder permitted to wear gloves and external leg guards. If these are worn, they are to be regarded as part of his/her person for the purposes of Law 28.2 (Fielding the ball). If by the wicket-keeper’s actions and positioning when the ball comes into play it is apparent to the umpires that he/she will not be able to carry out the normal duties of a wicket-keeper, he/she shall forfeit this right and also the right to be recognised as a wicket-keeper for the purposes of Laws 33.2 (A fair catch), 39 (Stumped), 28.1 (Protective equipment), 28.4 (Limitation of on-side fielders) and 28.5 (Fielders not to encroach on pitch).

We have spent 5 days dissecting the problems with the team and about two hours moaning about Aussies being nobs.

England first innings just set them too far back in the end. Shame to waste an innings like that from Stokes.

Seriously England got outplayed in this game and the Aussies acted like cnuts. Both the things can be true at the same time

Depends if you think this England team should be getting anywhere near this Aussie team. Two close matches despite massive deficiencies in the England team.

Pointless talking about previous records because those players aren’t on the pitch.

England just don’t have enough to take their windows of opportunity, a lot of focus is on the style but I’m not sure how much more is available out of this group of players.

Take a look in this thread, we have done nothing but discuss the problems they have been having.

It’s mad how much focus is on the style rather than ability tbh. England definitely just not as good as them

Have the faith lads. It's coming home.

Not really pointless as it's a philosophy. Declaring in the 1st test was a joke.

As for the birstow wicket. I just never get mad at stuff like that. It is what it is. It's like the broad not walking thing from years back. It's subjective and up to the players in involved to make a decision in there and then. Given their strong postion at the time I am surprised the aussies didn't call him back. Just for the PR if nothing else.

I wonder if Stokes will now wonder if he could have minced a few more with 4 wickets left as these guys are all fighting
