Lyon looks like he's done something there.

Could be massive - he's hobbling.

Yeah - massive if that takes him out of this game or the series. Puts a big strain on their seamers if he can't do the second innings. Who is their second choice spinner?

It’s completely pathetic batting again. Australia were 300-3, so we’re not in position to play shots like that. We should just be milking them here.

So frustrating seeing us bat well and get out to this stupidity. They need to toe the line better

Don't think the odds are in his favour with that shot. Think I can recall him getting out to it in pretty similar fashion.

right, lads, time for me to watch, time for some wickets.

That wicket had been coming for about 10 minutes. Was so obvious what was about to happen. Such stupid batting.

We will keep going for it lads. Are you all going to be shocked by shot choice every time

When you bat
like a twat
after a score
of 40 or more
that's a-Bazball
(to be sung to the tune of 'That's Amore')

I wouldn't be hooking on sight here either. But this team will. Make peace with it :)

just seems stupid to me. just let their quicks Traveller themselves bowling to shite fields and then attack them when they give up. there’s positivity and there’s just gifting wickets to negativity.

There’s a difference between calling out a poor shot and being shocked. No one is shocked. I love the way England are playing, but you don’t have to pull shots in the air to fielders in order to be positive. Especially without Lyon, these seamers won’t be able to keep it up.

I suppose at least Australia have a genuine all rounder which will help with Lyon's injury. Green barely bowled in the last test.

I love it when we get the rare serious Rimaldo post.

They aren't playing on traditional test match tactics though are they.

They're literally just out there having a hit.

It winds us up as fans, but they are wagering it will being them more success than failure.

Can't declare tonight if you aren't trying to smack every ball out of the park.

what’s the last thing the aussies would expect us to do? declare on 203-2, whilst trailing by 213, that’s what.

that’s fine, but at least make the opposition work for their wickets. they’re just doing kid-level reverse psychology of “bet you can’t hook sixes with test match fields.” and we’re going “uh-huh we can, watch this.”

Todd Murphy, he's not bad
Like Rehan he's young and inexperienced (only 10 first class games according to his bio) but I've got to admit I was impressed with what I saw both in the test series in India and the BBL.

I’d Lyon can’t bowl this match, then Aussies don’t have the bowling to take 20 wickets. If England don’t declare at some crazy time, they can very well bat Australia out of this game in the first innings.

I don't agree with it I'm just banging on like a broken record as England have been very explicit and open about the fact they don't care about the optics/shot selection/game context.
