Saud Shakeel looks a solid player. Hopefully will be a mainstay of the middle order.

As well as these 2 are playing, break the partnership & it’s advantage England. Wouldn’t surprise me if Pakistan collapse, again.

Depends on how far along these two stay in. Like @Wilt says time is not the issue on this test. England seem to need wonder balls to get Pakistan out right now

One of the interesting things about Bazball is if England can actually get there too quickly. You hold your hands up if a team chases 355 on a wicket where 30 wickets have fallen in 6 and a half sessions, but at the same time you don’t want them chasing on the days where the pitch is normally at it’s best. Wonderfully poised match.

I’d say it’s evenly poised with England edging it by a shade at stumps. Said needs to stay there by the end of the morning session for Pakistan to at least have a chance.

Who's the guy commentating on TMS at the moment. His breathless delivery really builds the tension.
I’m not sure who it was at the time, but I assume Aatif Nawaz? Purely for Aggers and Vic Marks being long standing so very recognisable. I do like Aatif a lot as a commentator, and being in Pakistan has really brought him to the fore given he’s got a lot of cultural knowledge.

England comfortably on top I’d say, the Pakistan tail is long and the new ball due. Agha to come isn’t bad but after that you’re into bowlers.

How the feck is that out?

3rd umpire can clearly see the ball is grounded - and isn’t sure that it’s a clean catch. How can it be out?

BS call from the third umpire there on Saud's dismissal. It was clearly hitting the ground and the only reason the third umpire have it was because Dar have a soft decision if out. Pope seems very disingenuous on caught behinds, in the first test as well he confidently appealed a caught behind and it clearly hit the ground. Pope's enthusiasm influenced the umpire, I'm sure if he wasn't sure, as most keepers are, Dar wouldn't have given a soft signal of out.

EDIT: just read that the soft signal doesn't matter anymore in these decisions (though don't understand why the umpire has to signal it then). That makes the third umpire decision even worse.

Hilarious to blame Pope for that. So the umpire couldn’t make out clearly if it was out or not after 50 replays but Pope in that split second was supposed to know that it hit the ground ?

Close call - but if he's looking for evidence that it 100% wasn't caught behind, I think he's made the right decision.

Do you think wicker keepers appeal for things they can certifiably say is 100% out? They appeal for everything! Also you just know if it’s grounded by pressure/weight on the ball being different. But anyway, Pope like every other keeper worldwide will appeal for that, I’m still annoyed it was given out when you can clearly see the ball is touching grass.

Yeah in fact Pope actually looked unsure himself

No he isn’t. He’s looking for evidence he caught it.

Soft signal is irrelevant since Oct 1 this year. It’s only there if technology is down.

Usually fielders know well if they have caught it cleanly or not, if it isn't clean then they'll indicate to the umpire that it's uncertain.

Even if the first test there was a catch that he was confidently claiming but on replay it clearly hit the ground.

That being said, this would only matter if the soft signal impacted the decision, which it doesn't anymore so all the blame is with the third umpire here. I'm not saying England cheated

It’s a shame as this test was finely poised and a really good contest. Can’t see Pakistan having any way forward now. 3rd umpire ruined the tie with some piss poor officiating.

Would give Pope the benefit of the doubt if he hadn’t claimed a catch that bounced 50 cm in front of him in the previous game. Either he’s very dumb or a cheat.

Yea Ollie Pope is a cheating prick. He should change his surname as it’s too pure and holy for him.

Not only that, but Pope isn’t even an actual keeper. There’s not a chance he’d have been aware, through the gloves, whether there’s been contact.

Shame about Abrar. Needed a 25-35 from him, similar to what Wood got in the first innings.

25 runs short in the end. We needed Saud there at the end of the morning session as I mentioned yesterday to have any chance.

And again it’s our batting line up which is a touch short of the required standard. Too many 30/40s that should be 50s. That 10/15/20 runs off a couple of batsmen make all the difference.

And I’m still peeved about that 3rd umpire call!

Yeah - real shame to see the stadium so empty all things considered. Poor to see.

It's a Monday morning. People are either at work or in school, the stadiums were full on the weekend. Also it takes a lot of time to get to the stadium because of the security measures.

Not disappointed by the crowd (there were more people in the shaded region as well). The cricket from us though has been bad throughout.

On the verge of being swept at home now.
