England vs Pakistan first test thread

This is turning into a bit of a disaster.
Disaster would be pushing it a bit or lot.
England still have the upper hand, need couple of wickets and probably won't have to chase a total in excess of 200.

If Pakistan set a target of around 300, you are in trouble.

Sure two wickets would turn the game on its head. That's why cricket's such a great game. But we don't look like we can buy a wicket at the moment. The only saving grace is that the pitch is so flat, they'll struggle to bowl us out however long we've got. Unless we bottle it.

Butt controversially given not out by the third umpire after a run out. The commentators are saying he should have been given but the bails weren't yet completely off the stumps.

I think commentators went a bit overboard with that. I personally thought he was out but it was n't as blatant as they were making it out to be.

I couldn't see the bail off the stumps when the bat was on the line

There were 2 replay shots bieng used.
IMO from first one, you could see them just take off when bat was out and when it was inside they were completly off.

If we can get in to bat today we'll this easy, wouldn't fancy too much of a chase tomorrow.

6 down now, they have a long tail so not looking good for them now.

Shame.

Need to get this over with and make a start on the run chase

All out, bowled Harmison caught by Pietersen

197 to win

Pietersen's taken a catch. Wonders will never cease!

24-1.

Yeah LB, nerves build up, tension rises....

I'll feel better once they get the required total into two figures.

If we can bat through the first session tomorrow morning we should be fine. The key is to get to the little milestones. Get to fifty, then get the total in to double figures.
I think we bat deep enough if required, but if Pakistan get the crowd going with a few wickets it could be a different story

It was important to get through today without losing any more wickets.

9 wickets still left and 170-odd needed. Do-able, but they'll still be some jiggery-pokery on the last day.

Good comeback by England, they have a very good chance of winning this now. The spinners have been dissappointing, but that's more the pitch than anything, if the pitch in the other test matches are anything like this one I would drop Udal.

how's it all going? as per, haven't seen a single ball :(

will we get the 174 tomorrow?

Unless England collapse they should win this, its a very flat track.

You should unless you bottle it which wouldnt surprise me

why wouldn't that surprise you? the very MO of this current team is the fact that SOMEONE always stands up and makes the winning contribution!

what a silly thing to say.

Had a feeling this would happen.

Still. . . not out of it. But I seriously think we should've got more in the first innings. They've got a good bowling line up. . . well dangerous when they get it right, even on flat pitches.

Yes, a "silly thing" to say.
