England v New Zealand 2013 Cricket

He's a bowler. Any runs he makes are a bonus, not an expectation. England collapsing here though, pitch is starting to offer something for the bowlers but not as much as this England collapse might suggest...

He was considered a all rounder a few years ago, and the fact that he is still averaging 25 with the bat despite barely scoring a run for a couple years suggests that he has the talent to be doing much better than he is.

Broad's recent performances as a bowler don't justify his selection in the side though, he's only being saved by his batting ability. Without that its hard to justify his selection. If Tremlett can get back ok and his game isn't too impaired by the injuries he's had, he should be in the team ahead of Broad.

Tremlett was a beast in the last ashes I would love to see him back to that form, I don't mind Broad as a bowler he can keep it tight and if you have someone like Jimmy at the other end that can build pressure but he really needs to start taking more wickets.

I do agree with Tremlett being a better bowler than Broad, but then again he will be 32 by the end of the summer and he's also made of biscuits. He's just not young or reliable enough to stick with him as a long term first choice. And I do think that Broad is one of our best 3 bowlers available as long as he is fit and his pace is good, but that if his pace is down around 78-80mph as it was in India, then he just doesn't have enough craft and guile or enough discipline to be in the team.

Prior has become a brilliant lower-order batsman. Very reliable.

I think it might be time to give Prior ago in the limited overs game again, he is one of the best wicket keepers about in my opinion and plays some great shots. I actually think he might make a good T20 or ODI opener although it may not work out how I hope it would.

I think he's still underrated by some even though he's a proven Test batter now. Can't believe he doesn't get in the ODI side.

He doesn't hit many singles though. He struggles in limited overs, I think, because you can stack the off side and bowl wide of off stump and he can't score any other way. Then he starts to panic and go for shots that aren't there to hit. I'd much rather Buttler kept and batted 7 in both limited overs forms, Prior is a genuine Test specialist as far as I'm concerned and Buttler is a wonderfully talented finisher.

EDIT: to add, Prior scores a lot of 4s and not many 6s, he struggles to clear the boundary ropes in all forms

Hope he gets his century here he really deserves it played some really nice shots. Can decide if I should stay up and watch the session after tea as I really want to watch us have a bit of a bowl.

Finn! Bang.

Was just going to say it's hard without any assistance from the deck to get a tail ender out.

Aye to skint to go out this weekend so I suspect there will be some tins and a night of cricket.

Full, straight, fast, you miss I hit. Seems that bowling attacks all over the world have forgotten that's the easiest way to bowl out the tail in recent times.

Besides Steyn are there any genuinely scary 145+ fast bowlers these days?

His forward defence seems quite solid. Although, I agree with you, I've hardly seen any yorkers to tail-enders these days.

Finn gone, just need Jimmy to stick around a little bit for Prior to get his hundred.

Lovely catch and Prior gone. Brilliant from the tired bowler.

Very good innings from Prior.

Edit: I despise this BetFair advert. Ffs, which Utd fan would be happy the 4-4 result?

I'm fuming with it, it's about time they pick another game ffs, I'm sick if been reminded about that about 10 times a day

Does Finn have a little bit of McGrath about him? Quite a similar action, not identical.
