England v India 2021 Cricket Test Series

This pitch is pretty slow tbh so I don’t see how India lose this from here, draw seems most likely

India are 0 for 2 wickets. They’re going to be all out today with England needing 100-odd. Will be a fun test if they get anything more than 150runs.

Anderson as a bowler for longevity - yes. His average etc. outside England isn't best ever worthy though, and neither is his overall language.

Root as a batsman - not even close to England's best.

'not even close' is a bold statement to be making. I've been watching England for the last 30 years and there haven't been many players in Root's class. Pietersen and Cook are definitely up there, but there aren't many others. Gooch would definitely be part of the discussion.

After that you're going back to other eras to find better players statistically (Hammond, Barrington, Hobbs, etc), but Root's name still fits in pretty snugly around those players.

I don't think there's anything wrong with suggesting Root's not England's best ever - he probably isn't - but saying he's 'not even close' is baffling. At the very least he's well on the way to being the best England batsman of this era.

Do the Indian press criticise Pujara when he bats like this as much as the English press criticise Sibley?

This is a bit of a shame. This test doesn’t deserve to be played out to a draw. Hopefully England can get a wicket from somewhere, or India will have a bit of a go before the new ball.

After 3 down, only one result india could play for.. might change things if they get a few runs now..

I agree up till tea. Since then they really could have upped it a bit. Especially with Pant to come, India could push England out of the game by close of play.

It’s in the comments on that tweet, it’s not quite sandpaper in the pocket vibes

Ahh...I'm not too fussed about it, all countries have been doing it since the game was invented, whether it's seam picking, sunscreen, sweets, nails, dirt-in-the-pocket, sandpaper or whatever. Besides the game is so heavily weighted on favour of the bat perhaps we should turn a blind eye.

What a rubbish opinion.

Set up for Jimmy with the new ball against the tailenders now isn’t it. You couldn’t have written it any better after what happened yesterday evening.

Utterly bizarre that we’re still starting tests at 11am in the UK.

As much as I think test is still the best format of the game it really doesn’t do itself any favours at times

You haven't watched much test cricket in the last 10 years then

Alright, fair enough. It's just traditional.

However, you can go off for bad light in the middle of the afternoon.

Yeah you can, but surely you want to try and limit that possibility. I’m assuming it starts at 11 tomorrow with the possibility of making up the overs up at the end. After an afternoon of India bowling a slow over rate.

Watching sky sports cricket in this rain delay I really like watching Kevin Pieterson as a pundit talking about cricket,

Lead 200.. England trying to be Aus lite is funny.

Look around.. see Root and Buttler.. I don't think anyone is going to be intimidated

Root once again proving that he is the worst captain in the world . They have no clue what they are doing out there
