England v India 2021 Cricket Test Series

Really good stuff from India. Came through the challenging first hour & played some excellent Test cricket.

KL Rahul with a text book test innings in these conditions. 100 odd balls for the first 20 and the next 80 in a little over 100 balls.

India will absolutely cruise this even if they subside to 350 all out from here.

The pitch is a good one but there's enough on it to take wickets. England are just flat and confused.

Watching a team bat well all day is so painful. (Except England, of course)

The new ball hasn't done much to cheer me up either!

Edit: Bye Kohli, never had any doubts! :nervous:

Have to say this thread is so strange to read given all other threads in India away tours. It’s usually us having a whine

You can always trust Kohli to go fishing for the ball way outside off stump and throw away his wicket

Robinson is a great find. England are playing this match with two bowlers though..

Have said it here before.. Wood is average, not a test quality bowler..

Wonderful day for India that too with the bat. Rahul has cemented his place well.

Have a feeling india have missed a trick by not playing Ashwin. Eng will have to bat last and the pitch will get dry. Missed a trick there.

As a tonic for today's test, Yorkshire hitting 200 in the Hundred was something

It’s crazy, I think some of the better teams are starting to figure out how they can bat and what actually is a good score in this format

Pujara is surely done now. Also Rahane is painful to watch. Wonder if SKY can replace either of them or is it going to be Iyer?

I think the team management will give Pujara and Rahane at least 3-4 tests, before bringing in someone in the last one.
Not sure what happened but Pujara and Rahane seemed completely out of sorts (though Rahane is still at the crease).

Kohli didn’t look his best either but at least got a 40 and hung around supporting KL.

And that should be that for Pujara and, despite his rare Australian purple patch, Rahane.

Kohli is going through an average run of games, too. Rohit is by far the most important batsman for us, and has been for over a year now.

At this rate I would even prefer Ashwin as a middle order ahead of Rahane.

The tail is very long. And given the form of Pujara and rahane, it seems as if India are playing only with 2-3 specialist batsmen.

I hope our pacers do the trick. From the look of it this track doesn't look like a 4 pacer one. Not picking ash could backfire.

Added to that he is a quality batsman, at a time when two of the specialist batsmen are woefully out of form.

Ashwin is massively underappreciated by the Kohli-Shastri management. If it were to them they would pick Chahal in Tests too, luckily he is trash. I am fine dropping Ashwin in a green track but even then you need to have a number 8 who can bat. Having Shami as your number 8 is just making a fool out of yourself. It may work on rare occasions but it is just not sustainable.

Good comeback from England today, to keep India within reach and the game in the balance (theoretically, England will score less than 250 in reality of course).

Jadeja and his batting with the tail is weird. Takes a single of the second ball and exposes Bumrah. Lets Ishant play maximum deliveries and when he plays just shows very little attacking instinct. He did the same in Australia, did the same at the WTC against NZ and now again.

For me, one of the best all rounders in Test cricket. Absolutely staggering he is not playing.
