England | right wing knuckle draggers on the streets

Really?! That’s a surprise to me. I’ve always found Muslim friends and colleagues to be devout. It’s a matter of personal and family honour amongst their community.
For some it is, I have worked with female Muslims who observe the head covering part of their religion whilst down the pub with a glass of wine

Yeah this is really getting out of control now, the response needs to be stepped up. There’s a march planned around the corner from me, and it has all the ingredients for a serious escalation if numbers turn up for it.
Hope you stay safe mate.

Look at the state of them.

All three in prison now. I hope they rot

Yeah but two tier, two tier two tier....that's all the right wing nutjobs have to offer

It's scary how many people are ready for violence in the name of white supremacy, and how easy it was to set this off with a lie on the back of a tragedy. It's also pretty likely that this situation isn't unique to the UK. Probably could have happened in a number of European countries.

Even by right wing standards, this guy has done all the right things. He's come to the UK, opened up a business that services the local community, pays his taxes, creates jobs, and yet they've still driven him out of the area. They knew him by name. That's fecking terrifying. I'd get my family out of there too.

Broke my heart seeing this.
Exactly. The bigots say that it’s only illegal immigration that they have a problem with, but every man and his dog knows that that’s complete nonsense. They’re opposed to all immigration, because they’re racist.

On that part, it's not strictly religious even if it's the main origin. When I was a kid most older women mainly french, spanish or portuguese would cover their heads when going out. Some were devout christians and others weren't, the reason is that it's a sign of modesty.

The "its only the illegal ones guv I swear it" defence is just a fruitless stance they use to absolve them of the racist label. If a button existed to eliminate every single coloured person in the UK I'd wager the majority wouldn't hesitate to press it.

TBH I would have no idea, but I would think that the cnuts involved wouldn't make such a distinction, non-white woman with a head scarf = Muslim

My grandmother tells me it was pretty common in her day for women to cover their heads when they were out without their husbands.

Then they would be complaining their football teams are rubbish and there are no decent takeaways.

WHY DO THEY ALWAYS LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THIS?!
Can we introduce a more modern version of "transportation" that the Victorian's used heavily for these sort of scum?

Maybe drive them to an airport with a revised UK passport that is valid for 7 months marked (one way only) and sedate them and then put them onto whatever international seats are available cheaply and tell them they are Banished from the country for periods of 2, 5,10 years or for life.

As they believe themselves to be part of a master race they should easily adapt and thrive in whatever far flung part of the world they get dumped into. They are also convinced refugees have an easy life and enjoy lots more advantages than the white working classes so they will welcome this opportunity for advancement by becoming a refugee themselves.

What concerns me is more of a undertone or a sentiment building under the surface for many normal people. I've heard a lot of people like condemning violence against migrants and centres, and yet there'll be a "but" in there. Like almost a tiny bit of it is justified in their minds. That makes me a bit uneasy because that kind of thing can build over time.

I think that's the point we're entering now. The UK is a relatively conservative country in European terms and I think you'd find a large number of people hold to some degree racist views. Oxford Uni's Migration Observatory say 53% think immigration is too high and 32% think its a bad thing. That's potentially almost 40 million people who have some bad feeling towards immigration and over 20 million who are bordering on what some would call racist. You can't just ignore that many people and label them all as racist. That further entrenches them in their views and results in what we're now seeing. It needs government policy, education and most importantly integration efforts that have not been there for at least the last 30 years. If we crack down on the riots, lock a few people up and then sweep it under the carpet we'll be back here again in a few years.

Unfortunately i think we are now reaping the results of what has been a higher rate of migration to the UK than European peers, without an associated increase in public spending and integration efforts. Not sure i see an end to the bad feeling that's been brewing as it's been going on for so long we now have an entire generation that has grown up with it.

A specific segment from the RTE report a few days ago might break it a bit more…

“As we were speaking to him he was racially abused by one person and another, with an English accent, taunted him about the loss of his livelihood.”

My grandmother tells me it was pretty common in her day for women to cover their heads when they were out without their husbands.

I'm relatively young and it was basically the norm for any women older than 60 when I was a child.

That's true but it's something that baffled me because it's an other example that shows how some people who claim to defend local cultures have no idea about local cultures. They know nothing about christianism or european cultures, let alone Islam.

Absolutely, the end actions are racist. 100%

However, take two people. Person One is clearly a racist and the end goal is to cause harm and distress to other ethnic groups.

Person Two does not believe they are racist, they only hold these views because they don't feel safe in their country, or want to protect their kids, or whatever justification they use to rationalise their racist behaviour in their head.

While we both agree that both committing racist acts should receive the same treatment, the underlying reasons of Person Two are different and. That requires consideration.

Or the real risk is that there is a meaningful rightward shift in the "majority", and Person Two is no longer even considered "racist".
Person 2 is just too thick to understand that they're racist, in that scenario. A lot of these people are that thick, you're talking about the lads you went to school with that couldn't figure out basic maths or science and packed it in at 15.

Not just one business, two of them! It takes real drive and courage to set up a small business like he did, never mind do it twice over. People like him are such assets to the community. How stupid do you have to be to not realise this?

It’s so sad. The way he tells it in a relatively unemotional way is horrible. This is a man who’s been through horrendous adversity. Having his livelihood destroyed by people who apparently hate him is just the latest hurdle in a life that’s already harder than any of us will ever experience. To see him reach a point where he seems to be all out of options is just heartbreaking.

Already happened in Dublin.

No such thing in my experience. If you are Muslim you practice your religion or you are castigated by your community.

I think @Posh Red has it right. Paloma is British, the father is a Muslim North African so the kids are half Muslim North Africans.

I'd suggest broadening your experiences. There's a lot of part time muslims nowadays.

Those type of headline numbers tend to be missing the wood for the trees though and it shows how much is about optics or underlying racism.

When people are asked on a job level basis a significant majority are in support for more migration. People don't want less migration into most job sectors. What that tends to show is they do actually see the value of migration, however it doesn't override in a different framing their racism towards Pakistani or Nigerians as examples.

The government do need to manage optics but sadly what we do get is leaning right playing into the racism or avoiding the issue entirely. We should be demonstrating the need for migration and giving confidence to people that it's controlled. You'll still always have racists but it's important to stop it becoming mainstream.

Call in the army. I know he wants to leave control with the police but this is going too far.

The problem is that the far-right want this. They want the massive presence, they want a reaction to them, so they can continue to say the State is trying to silence them.

Surely when it's this obvious where the planned shitc**ts will be there should be a massive police presence?

Akala dismantling Tommy Robinson on QT is timeless and you should watch it if you haven’t already.

Everyone should take the time to listen to Akala full stop, even if you don’t agree with him you will appreciate his craft, he’s what so many charlatans on the right are desperate to be - a deep thinking intellect who is incredibly well researched, eloquent and a fantastic debater. Whereas the likes of Shapiro, Peterson and co resort to cheap debating tricks Akala is always honest with his arguments grounding them in facts or reasoned opinions.

If his output was limited only to his four Fire In The Booth efforts, he’d have put more coherent thought into the world than the entirety of the far right combined.

First one for anyone that knows nothing of his ability (as the greatest MC the Uk has produced). Other 3 are on YouTube.

These cavemen prefer having poorer communities than sharing something a bit better with non-white people.
