England | right wing knuckle draggers on the streets

That's my point, if you're going to wade in to an obviously sensitive issue, tread carefully and don't parrot right wing talking points.
The Twitter account he posted and took at face value is scary. Just think how many others are doing the same. And it’s all utter bollocks.

The worse part is there are so many of these feckers to go after, majority will get off with a slap on the wrist because i cant imagine you could go after all the inciters despite laws preventing encouraging this kind of this. the biggest offenders hopefully see some serious time but with overloaded legal services many i think will get less than what they deserve

It's deliberate. I mean, not on his part hopefully, but whoever runs that account. It's also deliberate from Elon Musk to spread it as wide as possible.

Basically I'm saying Elon Musk is the biggest threat to western civilization since Hitler.

I've found BBC to be tainted before on a few things but two of you have mentioned Reuters so I'll give them a go, thank you.
I've found the BBC tainted before, so I used Twitter instead!

Every news source has it's own accusations of bias even Reuters has been accused in the past. But generally BBC, Sky, Channel 4 news, Reuters and PA are pretty accurate. UK TV news is meant, by law, to be impartial. GB News has skewed this and is still getting away with it despite being found to have breached the rules 12 times since it's launch. So apart from that TV news is generally a good source, compared to social media or print media.

One of the big complaints from rural towns in Ireland where hotels are used to house asylum seekers is that it lowers the number of tourists who can visit. And tourists plough a hell of a lot more money into local businesses than asylum seekers can.
Legitimate complaint but without another solution what options is there?

Just a random question for anyone, why do asylum seekers that make their way across Europe then want to venture on to the UK and Ireland (especially now in the future after these riots)? Is their better opportunities here for them?

Zuckerberg is up there as well.

I'd imagine being English speaking nations acts as a considerable draw for them, compared to the rest of Europe. They also might have settled relatives here too.

I'm sceptical that after 5 days of heavy reporting that someone who posts that is really just wondering what's happening.

He's evil in the Lizard man wants to harvest all your data and sell it or feed it into his cryptic LLM models type of evil, which is still some tiers below Musk's goading for race war and neo-Nazism brand of evil.

Is no-one thinking about the poor folks at the Middlesborough and Rotheram Tourist Board offices!

Just imagine how their Monday morning has gone as they will have had to scrap their planned Autumn / Christmas leaflets and plans for "European Christmas markets" for fear of Rotherham parents bringing their 10 year olds along to burn down "Grandma Shubert's house of fudge" cabin.

Maybe Yorkshire Tourist board will jump the gun and go with "Not ALL scumbags!" as a motto!

I rate him higher than you for being the person who created Facebook.

But I am with you re: Musk being worse overall.

Yes, I personally have absolutely no doubt whatsoever he's being disingenuous at best. But I also think the right approach is what others with much more patience and level-headedness than me have been doing, which is trying to answer his "questions" calmly and as thoroughly as possible.

BBC have definitely fallen victim to the whole “both sides” shit in recent times, and they’ve used neutral language on this already like calling them “anti-immigration protestors” instead of racist rioters which is what they are. These people aren’t protesting Canadians coming into the country. They’re not against Americans. It’s people with different skin colour.

I was hoping the BBC were just being like this because the Tories had their feet to the fire and had already gutted them and threatened them with cuts, but they’re still being a bit shit.
Things are so bad that in fact we have them with the same angle as that twitter account.

Why are the BBC still behaving like they have a Tory gun to their heads? They realise they don't need to pander to the lowest common denominator anymore right?

See my post above. The BBC director general is still a Johnson plant.

That's the video I saw (Which I don't understand why it pops up on my timeline as I only really follow anybody football related) but hey ho!

That's more than a pocket of people, for the record I feel incline to point out I'm not racist in any sense, I don't condone any violence.

This is the video of people rioting with machetes? While I can see how a crowd of angry young men is intimidating, they're not causing damage, they're not holding weapons and they're not punching random people in the face or smashing up property.

Here's a typical sort of post that's being pushed into people's feeds by twitter...

And no strong national ID system + very high acceptance rates for claims compared to mainland Europe + high level of government and NGO based support for migrants. A serious debate about immigration needs to consider these, however it can't be done when criminal thugs pretending they are 'takin there countree back' create havoc and chaos in the streets.

I live near four oaks.
There is no shortage of people visiting Drayton Manor, Sutton Coldfield or surrounding areas for tourism.

Tamworth is a commuter town to Birmingham like Stockport/Oldham is to Manchester so yes I assume that hotel right next to the Snowdome is cheap to stay in than some of the Brum city centre hotels.

Tamworth centre isn't picturesque but it does have a nice castle and surrounding grounds so you can spend a few hours if the weather is good before moving on to other parts of the West Midlands if you're spending a weekend in the region.

I live by Penns Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield (my Mum's Dad used to be a hotel manager there) and that is also a venue that holds asylum seekers and for last 2-3 years they haven't been able to put on any Weddings which was always a popular feature of the venue so I guess it's the same for some other hotels which is perhaps what the MP was trying to say the other week.

The perception is that they all come here, but that is not the case. Colonialism plays a part - migrants from former colonies head to the Metropole. It is why we don't get as many French speaking people from North African countries as France. Once communities grow in a country, people migrate there as well - see Turkish communities in Germany.

Also, the perception is fuelled by the fact people crossing the Channel is a very visible form of human movement. After Schengen, it is not so obvious if someone passes from the Netherlands to Belgium say.

The UK is not the biggest recipient of asylum seekers or migrants in Europe. Also most illegal immigrants come here legally on tourist visas and simply overstay.

And, it should be noted, an economy which has been based on high levels of poorly paid migrant labour to do a lot of jobs.

Absolutely. It has been in the Tories interests to maintain high migration to support their donors plans to keep an endless stream of low-cost labour. It's all part of us being a low-investment and low pay economy. Their whole policy has been inflaming people about migration while doing absolutely nothing about it.

The fact these migrants have to stay in these hotels for so long is a government decision, that's where the outrage should be directed at.

I was watching a Tom Nicholas video the other day and this graph is just unbelievable.

If anyone want to watch it, I think it's worth it. The sources are in the description.

I've been saying this too. It's a racket.

Serco and similar companies buy up a hotel, convert it to use as a series of small dorms and rake in more cash from the government than a legitimate hotel could ever possibly hope to make.

The government close all legal application processes from overseas so people are forced to make their way to the UK before they are processed. This then guarantees they'll need to be homed in one of these ex-hotels and they deliberately kneecap the civil service so that processing takes longer and longer, creating a backlog and an extremely lucrative revenue stream.

It's exactly the same playbook as public sector housing. Sell it all off to private owners/landlords and funnel the public money directly into their pockets.

People should be angry at the system and those who created it, not the people who find themselves trapped in this scam.
