England in India 2021

Root/Hales for me. Arguably Mooen and push Stokes to 3.
Not sure he's right at 3 because he's a bit of a slow starter and no.3 usually goes in during the powerplay.

I'd have him at 4 - if he comes in early, it's because we've lost two quick wickets and need to consolidate, so he can take his time even in the powerplay.

Let Bairstow go 3 and give him licence to blast away from ball 1, then send in Stokes after that.

The yellow India towels go very nicely with the retro dark blue kit colour. Good choice there.

Yeah, it might just be shifting the problem that Malan is causing, but it breaks up the right, right, right, left, left, left problem that putting Bairstow at 3 causes.

Sundar is having an awful day with the bowl. Another reason we won't be able to win WC with just 5 bowlers. One bowler has an off day and we are fecked.

In the shorter format of the game, you have to admit that England have the best batting lineup in the world. Especially in T20s, where there's a string of batsmen with power and technique and strike rates of 140 who keep popping up one after the other, and they all want to hit you out of the park.

Not sure how but somehow Thakur is doing well for now.

Ok, definitely. Poor cricket from Morgan.

Better game today, though, shame that England’s chase faltered.

Shame it came to an end but that's the perfect template for a Stokes innings I reckon. Goes in after 8-10 overs, knocks it around for a few balls and then launches.

Yeah that was poor from Morgan. But it's worked plenty of times before hasn't it.

England needed to get off to a flyer with the score that India got. They've been chasing the game for the entire innings.

Pandya's attitude is something else

England have thrown away a golden opportunity to win the series . Bairstow needed to be there at the end

With the amount of dew, England should have won the match.

Especially obvious with hindsight, but India definitely would have wanted Archer to take that single.

feck me though, that game lasted forever. T20 cricket really needs to get on top of the length of innings.

Brilliant win. Pandya was amazing and so was kohli for sitting out and lettinf rohit do the job.

That was a very very good bowling effort by India in awful conditions. I can't see England defending in these conditions with that much dew around.

That last over was not good though , a lot of very hittable balls.

India have generally been good at the death. They won the other game by completely stifling England too when they were on course for 180/190.

England by contrast have been dogshit, even in the games where they’ve bowled well they’ve let India back in at the death. Need a serious rethink.

Kohli bang on about the decisions from the third umpire . The on field umpire should have the option to say I don't know

They do but it's looking a bit like they're all in the wrong order at present.

All the talk will be about Malan but I'd still be in favour of having Buttler in the middle and coming in when needed. We have loads of guys who can blast away at the top but hardly anyone who can finish. It feels like we've opened up a gap in the team to fill one which was already plugged.

"The committee felt that the soft-signal system worked well for catches within the 30-yard fielding circle, but that catches near the boundary often left the umpires unsighted," the MCC said at the time in a media release. "It was proposed that, for such catches, the on-field umpires could give an 'unsighted' instruction to the TV umpire, rather than the more explicit soft signal of 'out' or 'not out'."

That seems a fair enough compromise for me. There's still going to be controversy, but I think it's important to recognise that TV cameras do foreshorten and make clean catches look grassed (not saying that's what happened today, just that it happens) whilst recognising that it's a complete guess for decisions that far away.

Yeah as others pointed out, it's one thing to give soft signal for 30 yard catch but for boundary catch how can you be sure? Rules seems a bit stupid, believe the fielder for soft signal.

England's death bowling has been very poor. They often start well and then lose composure. The only weak spot in the lineup, imo.
