England in India 2021

There's no way that Malan didn't knew that ball was grassed. The sheer confidence in claiming that catch. Cheating cnut.

Yadav and Kishan need to be in this India XI, this is what I mean by the quality that India have at their disposal. Only their own obstinancy will prevent them from being favourites.

Never out!

Umpire stupid to give a soft signal.
He has to apparently and at first glance it did look to me that it was a clear catch. It's only when I saw the first slow motion that doubt started to creep in.
This rule of the on field having to give a soft signal is the issue.

Have too many similar batsmen.

Rahul and Rohit are both similar inning builders. Rohit is superior so Rahul needs to be dropped.

SKY, Iyer and Kohli all too similar. If Kishan also plays then both need to be dropped because Pant plays 5 and Hardik plays 6.

Washington Sunder isn't a T20 player. Either get Jadeja back. He can throw his bat around better. I'd go with.

Rohit
Kishan
Kohli
SKy
Pant
Hardik
Jadeja

I was going to have a pop at Iyer for batting at 6 but then he hits 2 fours in his first 3 balls!

I normally of the opinion that players always know but I am willing to give him benefit of the doubt here only because it went into his hand and then it touched the ground.

Hopefully English media can stop whining about umpiring.

Enough of these decisions have gone in their favor as well over the series, as well as Kohli’s rotten luck with tosses.

How is that conclusively out? Surely looked not out.

That's not what they're looking for. The soft signal was out so they're looking for conclusive evidence to overturn it. I reckon it's possible he could have had his ring fingers behind the ball, but we didn't have the angle that would show that.

Now you ask me how that makes sense for the third umpire to be beholden to the decision made by someone standing 60 metres away. That's the real stupidity.

Sundar is playing at 8 and a very good bowler. He’s not competing with jadeja who is a third rate t20 bowler

Sundar plays 8 because we have this ridiculous experiment of playing Iyer/ SKY at 6, Hardik at 7. We need to drop one. And need Jadejas to back up as a capable batsmen.

I'd have Sundar as the main spinner but if we play Kuldeep or someone then he may need to sit out

Hardik has to be India's number 6. Apart from Russell , I don't think anyone is perfect for that role. Jadeja makes a fine number 7 as well as well as a top quality fielder. Between two of them they can share 5th bowler duties and then you play your 4 best bowlers. It's not that difficult!

Exactly. Alot of T20 seems to be about balance and variety. I'm okay with Sundar instead of Jaddu. But seriously, no point hemming in sky/ Iyer/ tiwary at 6 who comes in at the 16th over mark and expected to be Pollard while Hardik sits at a side.

It gives extra confidence to the players at the top order to play expansive shots when they know even if they get out there are more aggressive batsmen to come.

Not kneejerk but how does Jordan keep on getting games in the ODI team? He can never bowl the ball in the same place in two balls!.

Am I the only one a little unsure about England's bowling attack balance?

Wood, Rashid and Archer will bowl you twelve overs, but I don't think Jordan is good enough to bowl 4 overs a game (he's basically a yorker and nothing else) and Curran and Stokes can both be gotten after too.

Seems to me you're basically playing 3 5th/6th choice bowlers who, ideally, would be bowling about 2 overs per game to make up 8 overs.

Edit: In hindsight, this is less a question of balance and more a question of ‘is Jordan good enough to be a 4th bowler’.

Third umpire made the right decisions as per the current rules . Just like VAR the rules are at fault not the umpire

Yeah the rules need to be changed. Take out the soft signal nonsense. No way the umpire can see. Leave it to 3rd umpire.

God who the feck cares, this innings has been going on forever. I’m pretty sure this one’s out, but let’s just call it six and get on with the game.

It was clear as cut not out. There was conclusive images to show it has been grassed. Only a blind idiot would say it was out.

How is it a right decision when everyone can see it was not a clean catch. That was a shocker of a decision, nothing to do with the rules.
