Let's be real, so long as Southgate is there you guys are not on the same level as the current Germany, Spain, Portugal, France.

State of Southgate

Will end up at a mid table PL club before getting sacked within 12 months

Fecking Gallagher and Bowen

Its plainly obvious to anyone not English although I think alot of their fans are realising this now as well

Are Foden, Saka and Bellingham the new Scholes, Slippy and Lampard? In the sense that you have 3 players fighting it out for 2 positions and Gaz doesn't want to drop one. We have offered little down our left and Foden doesn't look like he wants to play there. Furthermore, one of Bellingham or Foden should come off with Gordon brought on. Is Gaz scared to pull one off? (giggerty)

Southgate did one thing really well, breaking down the barriers between various cliques from several rival teams.

Since then though he's demonstrated time and again that he's too limited a coach, able to come up with a single approach without deviation, and seems totally unable to grasp the concept of fatigue.

This manager ain’t taking us anywhere. The minute we come up against a Spain we’ll get slaughtered

If England are to make the final again they will have to avoid all of Spain, Portugal, France and Germany before then imo as I think they'd all expose England's weak areas at the back and in central midfield which have once again been evident tonight.

Southgate again sitting on his hands for half of that second half before belatedly making changes, seen it all before and you get exposed for that indecision in the knock outs against elite opposition.

So Southgate is using this game to perma-drop Foden isn't he

Foden has no place in the starting XI. Where are all the posters who told me that this was an absurd suggestion?

I think your XI for the next game should be: Pickford - Walker Stones Guéhi Trippier - Mainoo Rice - Gordon Bellingham Saka - Kane

England should make the finals with the players they have. On that performance they'll have done well to win their group

Should win the group comfortably. Don't the winners of this group get an easier draw against a 3rd placed team?

It's the quarter finals and the semis where things might go wrong as usual.

I know journalistic standards will prevent them, but I really hope the first question to Southgate is "Are you a fecking idiot?"

Really poor second half. Crap subs for me as well

I think Foden is a class player but he looks completely lost for England

Foden and Trent have probably played themselves out of the team. Kane and Bellingham (despite the goal hardly better). Saka the only player in the front 4 who can say they turned up (and that was for 45 minutes). Very worried for us going forward.

As much as that game was not great Serbia are a big physical team. They were allowed a lot of fouls without cards and sometimes just plainly not given. Kind of like having to win a tough game against a Stoke side who are up for it.

I fancy we’ll deal with Slovenia and Denmark a lot better.

Same old story under Southgate. Stodge, failure to make changes when needed and getting past lesser opponents due to talent available rather than tactical smarts. As a minimum, he needs to ditch the TAA experiment and try to give Shaw some minutes.

This lineup won't work. The team feels less than the sum of its parts. Foden just bang average in an England shirt, needs to be dropped for Palmer.

Arnold in midfield also a big no.

Saka is fine but Foden and Bellingham like to occupy the exact same spaces in offence regardless of where they line up on the pitch. Phil looked completely lost today, consistently running into spots occupied by Jude. One of them has to go and right now it looks like Foden.

Gone backwards as a side which is some achievement given that the amount of talent has increased. classic Southgate.

There was a graphic yesterday which showed English players had scored c. 80 goals more than their counterparts but they look the least like scoring.

Foden and Alexander-Arsehole were poor.

Need someone to unlock a defence and Saka was looking good until he was subbed.

Avoid the Italian, Dutch and Belgium too.

Very very poor. If we play that way v Denmark we'll get punished, hopefully it was just a one off.
I really don't see that, unless Denmark are a million times better than they were earlier.

I think England win this group comfortably, even if the performances aren't great. It will be interesting to see who they get if they are group winners.

It’s fecking amazing to me how dumb he is. Groundhog Day. You build up goodwill for him after forgetting what watching a tournament is like under his management, isn’t football meant to be fun. Such a joyless desperate experience watching England against a semi decent midfield.

I’m really not sold on Bellingham. He’s obviously a goal threat and he’s got good technique, but he’s a headless chicken charging around the pitch whenever I watch him play. Reminds me of Gerrard, for England at least.
