In not waiting until 80 minutes to make a change, in really going for it when you are 1-0 up and opponents on the ropes, in playing transition far quicker, in not playing it safe all the time.

But he makes substitutions earlier than 80 mins.
And I don't remember him telling his team to stop attacking and playing safer. Also playing really fast transitions is usually something used when you can't keep the ball. It's often desperation. I don't really see this in the England squad, we are a direct team in general.

We didn't just sit back off them, they started to control the ball and move it well and we started to make gaps for them to attack. After some time they got on top of us due to them being better on the ball than us.
I guess we'll soon find out.

Why is he playing TAA instead of Mainoo? 
There won't be any space tonight for England, it'll be a parked bus. TAA is on for set pieces and to "open the door" with passing.
Trent at CM is good and I agree with it...however Foden at LW was expected but it's just dumb as hell. Player quality will very likely bail Southgate out...for now.

None of England's other midfielders are really good at setting the tempo, passing the ball around dictating play. Guess TAA has been tried to see if he can provide that, his passing abilities are definitely up there, but ideally Southgate should have tried this in games prior to the actual competition
I think he has on a couple of occasions but it's not gone that well. I suppose Southgate thinks he can try it in the groups (and still progress) and depending how it goes stick or ditch in the knockouts.
