Did Woodward agree to take over at the FA after he leaves United?
Same old same old.
Yes man for the win!
Good news. I was fearing he would be sacked if they had an early exit.
Gonna waste this generation with a cowardly discount Moyes, and 5 years down the line you'll see videos on YT like "What went wrong with the golden generation?"
England have conceded just 1 goal in their last 10 matches and just 5 goals in their last 20 matches.
Well Germany have conceded 33 goals in their last 22 matches.See, I don't really consider that to be too impressive. Partly because a lot of the opposition is a bit crap and partly because... well... when our gameplan focuses so heavily on defence, I bloody well hope we're keeping clean sheets. Most of those matches were with five defenders, two DMs and a goalkeeper. The others saw one fewer defender. If we were keeping loads of clean sheets while also scoring a healthy amount of goals, I'd be more bothered about our defensive record. Trouble is that being able to keep clean sheets against Scotland, San Marino and the Czech Republic is unlikely to be of much use against a team like Germany, particularly because we probably won't score against them.
Off-topic but I never understand why, with all the god-awful popstars we have these days who have never written a song or played an instrument in their lives, everyone goes after Ed Sheeran of all people? I'm not a fan but he's surely far better than most.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Southgate go back to 5-3-2 or 5-2-3 tomorrow. Hope not though. Mid-tournament formation changes are asking for trouble.
I don't rate Southgate especially not to coach the current squad. He plays absolutely garbage football and lead England to the WC semi final by getting the easiest run of teams I have ever seen.
The only 2 good teams England played they lost.
Panama, Tunisia, Sweden and Colombia are not exactly good.
Belgium beat England twice and Croatia knocked us out.

But the squad in 2018 was not really good.
Only Kane, Vardy, Rashford, Sterling, Henderson, Walker, Maguire, Stones, Trippier, Pickford and Pope were really good players.
The other players were Lingard, Cahill, Jones, Dier, Alli, Welbeck, Young, Loftus-Cheek, Rose, Delph, Butland and a young Alexander-Arnold.
Harsh on Moyes - he's actually achieved European football for Everton, albeit sparsely, and came close to doing it again with West Ham. Southgate's highlight is guiding the mighty Middlesbrough to a 12th place finish, only to help them get relegated the following season.Gonna waste this generation with a cowardly discount Moyes, and 5 years down the line you'll see videos on YT like "What went wrong with the golden generation?"

Absolutely criminal that a manager of his (lack of) quality is given responsibility over these groups of players.
I get what you’re saying but the football is a bit of a chore isn’t it? Given the attacking talent he has at his disposal there’s really no excuse to set us up like underdogs.Or perhaps judge him on his international record. Got to the semi finals of the WC, and we are still in the Euros - so perhaps judge him after the competition has finished.
He's not a nobody, he has two US number ones.Fairytale story for this nobody.
I’d like to judge him on the absolutely dross football too. A team with this amount of attacking talent should not be as static as they are.Or perhaps judge him on his international record. Got to the semi finals of the WC, and we are still in the Euros - so perhaps judge him after the competition has finished.
There was lot of reasons to set up that way. Kane didn't fire and he looked like fish out of water. He can set up to play expansive football but this is tournament football with one deflection you will go out of tournament. He needed firepower to go toe to toe.I get what you’re saying but the football is a bit of a chore isn’t it? Given the attacking talent he has at his disposal there’s really no excuse to set us up like underdogs.

Is it just me that finds this a bit weird and cringey?

Yeah that's what he actually said. The question was something along the lines of "Jack Grealish likes watching comps of other players before games, do you?" He just said not really and if anything he'd watch his own clips to give him confidence.I'd probably do the same. Kinda a mental boost in that when you're going into a game after watching your best bits you can think "I'm actually good and can do this".
