Emre Can

What the hell, that seems very very low. We have Shaw and Ashley Young on £100k+
United can afford to pay that kind of money to players that aren't first team regulars though.

We rewarded Coutinho and Lallana with new contracts because of their form and importance to Klopp. Can hasn't done any thing to show he is an important player for us, and he's not really shown a great deal of good form either.

To be fair, I'm not very up to date with how much a squad player is paid at an average PL club (not meaning Liverpool by that). Being United and having "loadsa money" means clubs and players ask for fees or wages above what they are reasonably worth. In a world where Ronaldo is paid ~£500k before tax and we pay £250k-£300k for our top stars, you kind lose sight of what is average any more.

Yeah true. It makes it even harder for us to sign top players as well.

Ignoring our lack of success and focussing solely on wage capacity, there's a lot of European clubs that can and will offer more money than what we do.

It's partly the reason why we always end up with a lot of third and fourth tier players.

How on Earth can you post that with such confidence?
Because I think that's his level, and that he hasn't done anything to deserve a rise in pay.

At most he's a £50k p/w player as things stand, but he's easily replaceable.

35K/Week! I think we pay cameron brothwick jackson(no not really). That is poor by Pl standards and if i was can i would want parity with others. I think he will ask for 70-75k/week or more but i think liverpool might sell him if he doesnt lower his demands as he isnt important enough.

I think he is referring to you stating Can is currently on £35 p/w with such confidence, could be wrong, but that's roughly around the figure I have read as well in the past and it sounds realistic considering he signed a few years ago when he was younger as well. Either way, the manager is not convinced by him, he has regressed this season badly, and at this point he's less fundamental to the team than Wijinaldum (fairweather player, turns up when he wants) and Henderson.

Ah ok. Well yeah it's what I've read from a couple of the more reliable Liverpool journalists.

Is he worth 70k a week? Easy. That's not even 4M a year, for a young and promising German international starting for Liverpool that's hardly an outrageous wage demand. Many, many players far worse than him make more than that.

He's shite and definitely isn't worth 70k a week

The improvement he has made under Klopp has been nothing short of astounding. Seems to be getting better with every game.

If he keep this up, he'll be the best midfielder in the league next season.
Ha

Or at least score goal of the season.... :wenger::p

should have milked it a bit more, Deirdre didn't even lose his specs

Looking beyond just the goal, he has great qualities as a midfielder IMO. He can pass well, he shields the ball, he has great workrate and is defensively sound.

I think it's hard to deny that there isn't some talent there.

Just turned 23. He's got a lot of ability. Not quite consistent enough but becoming increasingly influential and rarely gets bested these days. He's good.

Has returned to form in the last six weeks. He has the tools to be a top player.

Been excellent for 2months now. Seems to have put the injuries behind him

Fans think he's shite because quite frankly we haven't had a player like that in our midfield since Masch, perhaps even Didi.
Can is an enforcer with huge potential, people forget the guy's not even 24 yet. Every time you watch him, he does something that you just know will translate into a huge strength in the future, be it long balls, passes in the box, tackles etc. Compare him to someone his age like maybe Kevin Stewart, and you'll see what I mean, for his age Can is an exceptional PL midfielder that will only get better. You're just not used to having someone with balls in the team, someone that will take every opportunity to commit dirty fouls, then bitch about it to the ref and get away with it, then run with the ball across half the field without anyone of the opponents able to give chase.

We simply didn't have a midfielder like that in a long while, mainly because our last two managers simply didn't see physicality as strength. It is actually quite painful watching teams like the two Manchester clubs and Arsenal, where they take every opportunity to complain to the ref and use every dirty tactic in the book to get their way, we simply stopped doing that at one point, and it shows in our results against weak opposition, that's why Can is such a welcoming addition, his attitude is similar to that of Ander Herrera, except Can's better at football.

Stop underrating him, he'll be class and deserves that contract extension.

He ranges from the superb to awful quite regularly. I think he runs around like a headless chicken which can sometimes either take him completely out of a match, or make him dominate it.

Fantastic technique for that goal though, typically had to pull something out like that last night

In other words he's shite?

He has improved under Klopp, under Rodgers he was playing in a different role every game right in a defensive three, right back even.

He goes forward with purpose, isn't afraid of having a shot or a dribble which l really like, as opposed to just going square like Allen or Lucas invariably would. He has goals in his locker as well.

Appparently he's been playing with a niggling injury for much of the season that he's only recently recovered properly from.

Would explain some of the zombie football he's been playing this season and why he's been in good form of late.

He's a confidence player though. Hope he kicks on next season. On form, he keeps hendo out of the side.

This goal will do wonders towards further overrating of him by Liverpool fans.

That was RAWK-esque!

Somebody check him for being a double agent please!?

I think he would be one of the best player in the world 25-30 years ago. He´s technically excellent, great passer, physically strong. He´s just a bit slow in his decision-making, (ball) movement, holds onto the ball too long and is therefore error-prone. Exactly what you do not want in a great defensive midfielder today. If the game was slower like 20 years ago, he´d be your perfect midfielder.

I reckon Can is pretty decent to be fair, but better than Herrera? He's not even close.

You're a) mad as a wasp b) WUM or c) have no idea what constitutes a good footballer

This is exactly the two sides of Can. There are times when he's purposeful and efficient with his energy and he's brilliant in those games but then every few games he'll be running about like his head is on fire committing silly fouls and giving away errant passes. He just needs to learn how to compose himself a bit more, get more consistency and he'll be a brilliant midfielder for us.

I don't really understand why any Liverpool fan comes on here and tries to big up/praise any of our players. We all know that as far as most utd fans are concerned as soon as any player signs his name on a Liverpool contract he automatically becomes a shit player.
