Emiliano Sala: Rest In Peace

@paulscholes18 @UncleBob I suppose those are the logical answers, but wasn't the plane found 4/5 days again now? Surely they'd have told the family on day one (seeing as they paid to resume the search?).

I'm leaning to PS18 reasoning that it might not be identifiable yet which is sad.

There's several plausible answers, some more grim than others, but i'd assume that the families were informed when the body was on deck given that it can't be that difficult to see the difference between a professional footballer and a middle aged pilot.

Hope the search continues for the pilots body otherwise we’d be hearing conspiracy theories forever.

Not that it makes a difference now, but you can only hope that it was over before he was fully aware of what was happening.

Search where, it's a big ocean. My guess is he'll end up on a beach

What do you mean search where?

If the pilot was found only, do you think they would have ended the search for Sala? No chance. His family deserves some closure too and same level of respect as they lost somebody too.

As horrible as it sounds, I’m glad they’ve found the body.

Will hopefully help the family get some closure.

RIP. So sad.

From my understanding the body stayed in the plane so chances are that he died on impact in no time. Awful, but probably nicer than escaping the plane and trying to fight your way out in those conditions and freezing then drowning whilst trying to stay afloat.

So sad :( RIP Emiliano.
If his body was still in the plane I think it's pretty likely he will have died or been knocked out on impact.

Thought of being trapped in the plane while it sinks and then drowning is very grim.
This. Sounds bad but seriously hope it was over on impact, the thought of him potentially drowning while trapped is the worst possible thing :(
Though of course since the pilot wasnt found, theres a chance that happened to him... just awful all around.

Difficult to say the right things but this is probably as close as you can get.

There was no way after one evening it was going to be positive so hopefully it helps the family they can say goodbye properly now.

Also prayers for the pilot's family.

We all knew he had died but getting the actual confirmation tonight is still incredibly sad.

Really feel for the pilots family, must be even worse to have all those questions they must have about where he is and what happened to him.

I do think so. It was pointed out from the start that if they're lucky, the plane will be somewhat intact and the bodies would be found inside, if not there isn't much else to do but wait and hope they show up somewhere.

We were waiting for the inevitable but it still feels horrible to read the confirmation of the identity. Hope his family gets some closure now. Also hope they somehow can find the pilot too, even if it feels impossible.

RIP Emiliano Sala.

At least now his family knows. :(
Sad for the pilots family that they haven't found him, and from what I understand likely won't.

At least 1 family is going to have some closure, hopefully they find the 2nd body

Closure is overrated.

Condolences to the family and all, and obviously this isn't something I woulr directly to someone grieving. But what difference does seeing the body make? Did anyone seriously have hope that the poor bloke didn't actually die, and was on some frigid island in the Channel?

Doesn't have anything to do with actually seeing the body, more that you have the comfort of knowing that the body has been found, that it's not just floating around with fish nibbling on it, that some day it might wash up on a beach. That the person is physically there when you visit the grave. Knowing that the body is lost at sea must be a horrible feeling for the family of the pilot

I think the idea is that if you're so overcome with grief there'll always be a small part of you irrationally, emotionally clinging on to the possibility. The benefit of closure is breaking that unhealthy tether, theoretically.

RIP Sala

Hopefully they find the Pilot too. Just as Salas, his family deserves closure too even though it seems that the media do not care at all (which is sad).
