Emiliano Sala: Rest In Peace

RIP Sala, very sad news.

Looking at the insurance it is a personal accident policy. Now i'm not aware of how it works for sports professionals but normally a personal accident policy would cover an accident / injury but you would also need a separate life insurance policy. I would be surprised if he was not covered for both but i am surprised all the sources are quoting Cardiff claiming on the personal accident side of things. Is there any reason they would not be looking to claim on a life insurance policy for him?

The guy is about to have a time of his life playing in the Premier League, has a beautiful girlfriend, a beautiful dog...everything.

Rest in peace Sala.

Everybody knew they were gone but I'm glad they found the bodies. Now their families can finally sort of find peace with themselves. RIP to both of them, such a tragic story.

There's nothing that would change this sad event, but at least one of the families can have some closure and a bit of peace at last. I hope they have some news on the pilot as well, for the sake of his family.

Rest in peace Sala.

Have they found the pilots body now ?

Hope the search continues for the pilots body otherwise we’d be hearing conspiracy theories forever.
It won't.

Let's be honest the only reason this search happened was because Sala's family raised the money.

Now they've found the plane, he's inside and the pilot is nowhere to be seen. I'd say there is a very very slim chance of finding the pilot now. He could be anywhere in the ocean, I can't imagine how difficult that will be to find him.

It's a sad situation but hopefully the body will wash ashore eventually.

These macabre daily updates on the plane and body's found needs to stop now. It's starting to become very distasteful.

The plane crashed, he was missing presumed dead. That's the only update the general public needed to hear up until this point where the body has been found and identified. Lets hope the press knock this on the head now and let the family greave in peace.

RIP Sala :(

What do you mean exactly?
I hope the universe at least granted him the mercy of a quick death on impact instead of fighting in vain against the elements for minutes (or even hours) on end, which seems to have been what the poor pilot was forced to endure.

Couldn’t agree more, I had to turn the news off because of the sheer repetition of this story. It’s as if the media revel in stories like this.
I’d also like to think that Cardiff and his old club can come to some amicable desicion regarding the transfer money, I wonder did he have any kids? Be nice if they could pay that transfer fee into a trust account if he did, if he didn’t then maybe a charity he was close too.
But alas I don’t think sentiment will stretch that far, not into days game, no a bunch of daffodils and a minutes silence and all is good.

No and unfortunately for his family no one is going to raise the money to continue the search for him either

Look, the harsh reality is that the search area is huge and the body isn't still in one place.

So sad for his family and friends, the excitement and pride he must have been feeling, about to join the Premier League. Terrible news.

RIP both.

Wise suggestion.

Aren't life insurances usually for family members, etc? I don't understand why my employee would be beneficiary of a life insurance of mine. As long as the personal accident insurance covers my permanent inability to work, it is irrelevant for them (from a financial perspective) whether I am alive or death.

Absolutely agree.

I stopped following the story shortly after they confirmed the plane had gone missing and no one had heard from him. It's only on here and the BBC Football news (Which it has no right being on) where I've seen updates, almost every day with pictures of a submerged plane and god knows what else. Will people stop at nothing for an extra click or view?

People have died and now there's a dispute over the transfer fee. There's are no more updates anyone needs or deserves to hear past this point.

I'm glad they found some one. Footballer or the pilot. Its rare they do. Full planes disappear without any trace. Least Sala's family will have closure. Sadly the same can't be said for the pilot. He wasn't in the cockpit. As hard as it was to look for a plane. it'll be like asking to search the entire ocean for a body. He could be anywhere or food by now. An easy day gone completely wrong. Rip.

If I was nantes owner, I would let go half of the payment and share it.

Nantes are not rich club. Every PL club is rich, if anything there is no reason for Cardiff to not pay full amount. 15 million is a big money for Nantes.
