It's a great game but bloodborne, ds3 and sekiro are better. The reviews were too glowing. None of the bosses are as enjoyable or memorable as in other games. The fact that the world is only bosses and enemies makes it repitive and the emphasis on exploration makes less suited for multiple playthroughs. Still it's a great game but just not what it's hyped to be. Just my opinion though.

Elden ring is definitely worth it imo. Its just overhyped.
Nothing stacks up to Bloodborne.
They've given remasters to DS1 and DS2, I'm shocked they haven't done anything to Bloodborne. It doesn't need much, 60fps, faster load times and touch up the visuals.

Gameplay js slightly worse, but the game makes up for it with the huge amount of weapons and playstyle. I prefer the fochsed polished experience Bloodborne and Sekiro give you personally, but it's definitely an amazing game.
I'll second what everyone else says do I put it above Sekiro below DS3 and BB.

I love it. One of the most addictive games I’ve played in years. As others have said Bloodborne probably shades it as the better of the two but for me it’s not by a huge amount (And I love Bloodborne). Being able to respec your character makes multiple playthroughs worthwhile and I’m one trophy away from platinum without really feeling I had to grind.
As for it being worth getting a ps5 that’s a difficult question. You’ll get 100+ hours out of the game but that might only be 6 weeks of play time so might not be worth it if no other games grab you.
In regard to buying a PS5 just for it, I would say it isn't worth it due to the frame rate drops that it supposedly suffers from. Also, while it definitely is a small number of people suffering from it, I have read on reddit a number of complaints about the PS5 version crashing the console and people being unable to play. I have a PS5 but just decided to play the PS4 version to be safe.
It doesn't even run well enough on PC, let alone PS5. The engine is 12 years old and it is full of the same bugs.
That being said @Jev I would actually say it's a very good game and certainly one not to miss. Even though everyone in a perfect world would learn souls from DS1 first (demon souls was fine for what it was, but DS1 is still the best world FROM has even created and they say that too), in modern terms ER is a great jump in point. It's not a system seller though, and those reviews are demonstrably paid for nonsense, so I'd have a think about the other games you like and pick your system/choice of upgrade from there.

Finished Elden Ring yesterday, got fed up of the difficulty and wasn't enjoying it enough to "git gud" so installed an easy mode mod to do the last 20%. I thought it was OK, moments I really enjoyed, moments I disliked, I'd probably give it a 7.5/10 overall. Maybe installing the mod robbed me of some of the later bits but by that point I'd had enough. Biggest negatives for me were the camera movement when locking onto giants and dragons, and the PC performance at times was terrible. Plenty of positives though.
Ironically the PS4 version seems to have less performance issues. Just go with that, its definitely worth a purchase.
So I recently started a brand new Witcher 3 game since I hadn't played the expansions and its been years since I'd played the base game.
And coming from Elden Ring - what an experience that is
Maybe I'm just getting old and value my time more, but I was so so grateful for the clear quest markers, the overt story and the heaps and heaps of dialogue. I appreciate they're not entirely similar games by means, but its definitely a far more relaxing experience. I'm not suggesting the souls games should be anything like the hand holding experiences we see in games like TW3, but it does take a certain mindset to be able to enjoy them. I've pretty much been breezing through the witcher on autopilot, while talking to my missus, watching football, and just pissing about, which makes it so much easier to jump in and out. I can't say the same for Elden Ring as good as it is.
One thing I will say though is the combat just doesn't compare and TW3 feels clunky af in comparison. It's also too easy for me even in the hardest difficulty, I suppose that's what hundreds of hours of souls game does to you

It's the best game i've played on the PS5; visually it's beautiful in it's art direction and such but it's also very last gen (PS4) in my opinion. I see no reason why this wouldn't be able to run well on a PS4 at all.
I rate all the Dark Souls games pretty highly but Elden Ring is by far my favourite. Only Bloodborne comes near it for me and I think I need to replay BB someday to decide which one i like best.
Just finished my first save. Did just about everything I could find. 95 hours, level 156. Brilliant game. Couldn't ask for more tbh. Some excellent and challenging boss fights, and I never needed anything more than a summon ash to get past any boss. Loved it.
The best spirit ashes are probably more reliable than human summons, without the hp penalty too.
Yep probably. Pretty much used mimic tear and tiche exclusively.

- Blasphemous blade for the takers flame skill, having a fully upgraded lordsworn straight sword with faith scaling and bloodhound step as my 2nd and sword of night and flame in the left hand to dual wield when needed, then godslayers seal for the incantations (Black flame, lightning spear, buff spells). Mainly faith build, STR/INT/DEX as required. Went to 38 vigor, 26 mind for Tiche and 32 endurance.
- Arcane - Rivers of blood, easily. Didn't like any of the dragon incantations, though a arcane build with a medium faith leveling is good since you can scale the incantations with an arcane based seal (dragon communion seal?).
- Dexterity - Hand of Melania
- Strength - I did starscourge great sword. Kind of want to try one with hammers though.
- Intelligence - used moonveil katana with the staff you get from Renalla I think it was. Otherwise can do uchigatana or lordsworn straight sword with the hoarfrost stomp (though it got nerfed a while ago)

Is it possible to switch the weapon art if you have it on both weapons? Like atm I have a shield on the left hand that parries, so I have the two hand my sword in my right hand to use it's weapon art. Is there a way to make it switch between the 2?

Kind of how I've felt recently while replaying cyberpunk on ps5 with the upgrade. Soo much relaxing at the end of the day, while Elden ring has me constantly stressed out.

I've been slowly chipping away at this over the last few weeks with what little gaming time I get. Beat Fire Giant and went to Crumbling Farum. Reached Godskin Duo but they fecked me up. Decided to go and back to some older areas to clear a few missing things. I beat the Gargoyles and went to Deeproot but I feel massively overlevelled for it now.
I've tried my best to avoid all guides (occasionally use the wiki to get upgrade material locations). The game is fecking vast and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface.
I can see why some may dislike this over other From games, but for me it's becoming my favourite game ever. It's filled a gap that SoTC left years a go, and I enjoy just getting lost in the world and bumbling around trying to figure it all out.

He's a piece of piss as soon as his knights are gone which is easier said than done. Stick a load of buffs on before you start and try to blitz them quick with an ash summon.
Latenna is good for this. Summon right at the door as you go in. She'll shoot the knights and they'll rush her, putting distance between them and Niall. Then you kill them quick from behind.
Stay mid-range for Niall and bait his very, very slow jump attack.
Beat the Fire Giant tonight on my 4th attempt. Another one of those heart pounding boss battles, great stuff.

As someone still pining for the slower pace of DS1 and who finds BB and Sekiro a bit off putting due to the speed the game plays at....Elden Ring has been perfect for me. DS1 still has the highest highs, but I've been playing ER for 130~ hours now and I still can't get enough. I'm almost in shock at having beaten however many bosses and yet the next ones still feel fresh, interesting and utterly exhilarating to defeat.
It's my first From game, and there are elements that I absolutely love - mostly the combat and the challenge of it all. I've got to a point where I have defeated Margit and Godrick and now I actually feel a bit jaded or even without direction. Maybe I just need a break, but part of the problem is, to me anyway, it doesn't feel like a living breathing world....more like a recurring nightmare. Like the NPCs don't seem to have any life, they're talking statues. The enemies - I don't really know what their motivation is - they're like plants just waiting for you to come along and trigger - I don't now why they're there or what their purpose is (I'm not really sure what mine is tbh). To me, what this game is getting praised for, is the bit I can really take or leave - the open world/exploration...to me this type of game would be better as a more linear and focused game. I have thoroughly enjoyed the "set-pieces" - bosses etc. but the bits in-between haven't inspired me much.
I loved Ghost of Tsushima, yeah it's pretty easy, very easy compared to this, but it felt like a real living breathing world, where everyone had a life and a purpose. It was also beautiful - I could wander and stare for hours at the scenery - I don't get this from Elden Ring at all. I'm thinking maybe Sekiro would be a better fit for for me?
I'm not ruling out returning to Elden Ring, maybe I just got tired of it, I put in a lot of hours just to beat Margit! Godrick, not so much.
