Edward Woodward

Rumours are circulating it is Gundogan he's going after.

Pretty sure the Germany stuff is nonsense - started on a fake BBC account.

Just wondered as not in Dortmund side tonight.

Bit confused about that, BBC just mentioned him in their live commentary. Have they just lost their marbles?

German Bundesliga
CLOSE!- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Werder Bremen
Huge let off for Werder Bremen as Iikay Gundogan sends a deep cross from the right to Marco Reus inside the area. His first-time shot takes a slight deflection off the heel of Theodor Gebre Selassie and it seems for all the world that Robert Lewandowski will turn the ball into the empty net, but the ball is just out of the reach of the Polish striker.

Bring back Kroos, Edd! Then all is forgiven.

Unfortunately, I think Woody has showed his naivety in this transfer window. His career, and no doubt about it a good one, has been about making money, not spending it. It's a whole different ball game. It wouldn't surprise me if, against all the beliefs Ferguson had about the January transfer window...that we go out and blow a whole load of cash during that time, again against everything we have done before. I think we have looked incredibly stupid this transfer window, when previously our persuits, albeit not always successful, have had a business sophistication about them...

Still, Woody with learn like all Woodies, that you can't play hard all the time, sometimes you need a subtle soft approach...

He'll get to Germany, but then need to return to Carrington on urgent business.

"look into my yes...look in to my eyes....you are both signing for united...signing for united....look into my eyes...signing, both of you for 28 million...look into my eyes..loooook into my eyes...

Something about the eyes....can't figure out if it's demonic or as someone previously mentioned rape eyes!!!

feck him.

Mega rich, dream job, killers on speed dial yet shit at what he's doing.

The life we can only dream of.

 I bet he has lost a bit of his hair since being Vice Chairman six weeks ago!

Most people find making money much more difficult that spending money... but oooh... not our Woody! He's always been different since he was a child, according to his Mum. :nervous:

I wonder if his fellow chairmen still answer his calls knowing full well that he will come it at half the market value? A certain Joe in the North East probably will sympathise.

Personally, I think Woodward is so used to generating an income and has yet to learn exactly just how complicated the transfer window can be.
It's times like this I wish we still had Gill around, if even for just transfers. Woodward will learn too, but naturally it'll be a gradual process which we might have to endure. That doesn't mean that I don't think he's able for it. I think he's fully capable of bringing in signings, just needs to learn that transfers take a different approach to generating income for the club.

I am pretty sure he shadowed Gill for a while. Maybe Woody thought United regularly overpaid under Gill (which is true) and wants to do his way to get better value?

But better value at the moment seems like it will result in us getting no one. And doing so could put us in a very precarious position, especially if Carrick gets injured. Scrimping over these transfers has the potential to cost us more in the long run if it affects our league position and champions league progression, which it undoubtably will.

I honestly cant get my head around that £25 million bid for Fabregas. What was the thinking behind that? Its ridiculous. The first bid should have been £35million then we might have had half a chance.

It maybe the new guy syndrome... trying to prove something to the Glazers and that he is better than or at least as good as Gill.

Yes I'm sure they will look upon his complete and abject failure to strengthen the squad kindly if we drop to 3rd and crash out of the champions league.
