That deal was a sodding great bung to Mendes, probably to ensure that we got first dibs on his players in the future, such as De Gea and Garay (if we had wanted him). It can comfortably be ignored in terms of relevance to what we pay for our players.

This, it could simply not have been anything else. I'm almost shocked we didn't get fecked over because of it. Not that I mind though.

DoF may be the best way forward particularly as we have a manager who is inexperienced in the European game. Baldini looks to be doing a pretty good job at Spurs.

Yes, I agree. But not to find players, just negotiate.

De Gea changed his agent after we presumably agreed terms with him, he had a different agent to mendes before that. Remember the deal being delayed a few days due to some drama involving his previous agent and mendes.

Not sure about that. It wouldn't have surprised me if Mendes greased the wheels for the deal on the proviso that de gea became his client. The problem is with these so-called super agents that is all so sodding murky. If you're not chucking them bungs or signing fees or whatever you want to call it, you're not getting the players.

There was a lot of shit about not getting Lucas and Hazard last year and the reports coming out where that we simply would not countenance the payments to the agents required to seal the deals. Transfer fees and wages weren't the problem but the amount of money to be handed over to a bloke who basically just made a couple of calls was.

If you listen to Phelan's quotes, immediately after that the presenter asks him if he thinks it's a case of Woody being frightened to spend big or other clubs not wanting to sell and Phelan thinks it's the later.

After all that's happened with the strangely low Fabregas bids, wouldn't it be hilarious if he put in a 45m bid for Fellaini out of nowhere. It'd insane, but hilarious.

Well, what's him buyout clause? Isn't it like 23 million?

Sounds like Woody has this sh*t down:

Roberto Martinez: ""I have never seen Manchester United working in this manner before," the Everton manager said. "When you want a player you just do the business quietly, you get it done and that's it. I don't know if this is a new way of working at United."

Does Ed have some photos of the Glazers they don't want getting out or something?

I've developed the habit of calling him edwoodwoodwood and can't seem to get out of it..

Martinez needs to mind his own business and concentrate on raiding his old club for all their best players.

Couldn't give a toss what Martinez thinks of Utd, we made an offer and they made the bloody thing public.

My thoughts too. Seems a bit odd of him to say given they're the ones that went public with it.

Odd comment given they're the ones who made it public and made such a big deal of it.

I still remember the excitement when he flew home on urgent transfer business.

If only we knew then that the guy can't even catch a plane properly, let alone a player.

If we don't sign anyone - it basically means that any team that finish above us in the league, have managed to find players who strengthen their side - while we apparently couldn't find anyone. That unfortunately means that Moyes / and or Woodward simply haven't done their job

It's gotta be urgent business...he doesn't do transfers.

He likes to bring money IN not Spend it..
