Oh but it's such a god-awful horrible song. Can't we find something better?

Stan Ridgway's "Camouflage"?

Oh oh oh oh Camavinga
Things are never quite the way they seem
Oh oh oh oh Camavinga
He is the...whatever... of the team

No?
I genuinely thought I was the only one who remembered that song

I highly doubt he is ready and probably could do with staying at Rennes or at a club where he can maybe play at a higher level regularly. I just don’t see him coming in to United and replacing Fred and McT as a starter. Not yet anyway.

However if it can be done now, and it’s a decent price, then you have to go for him or in 2 years we’ll likely be kicking ourselves asking why we are paying a Dortmund or someone 80-90 mil for him. I’d even consider buying and leaving him at Rennes another year.

Anyway was reading that Rennes want a sit down with him as he has an important decision to make. So either one last attempt at getting him to sign or an offer from someone is in for him.

This is such a great opportunity for a young player of his potential. Last year of his contract & most of the big boys aren't ready or able to bid (due to no spots/PT or no finances). Similar to how BVB got Bellingham (wanted PT), but now we're in that position of leverage. At worse, it forces PSG's hand (if they really want him) so that they can't get him for free next season. Truly hope Glazers et al are willing to stretch a little bit for this one (after Sancho & hopefully Varane). Gotta get some transfers out, though.

Sell Matic and Pogba, buy Camavinga and recall Garner.

-------------------Cavani
---Rashford--Bruno--Sancho
-----------Fred--Camavinga
Shaw--Maguire--Varane--AWB
----------------Henderson

Can't see us splashing on an 18 year old as we need a starter in midfield to be competitive.

Would be great but If it doesnt work out I wouldnt be so worried as Mejbri is a fairly similar player and full of determination to make the step up sooner than people think and there are other players of perhaps a better fit we could get for less but maybe Ole wants to build something exciting..

To be honest, United splashed quite a sum on these youngsters in last years. Could be part of general club's policy, starting with Hannibal.

I so crave a box-to-box midfielder, and the only ready-made man is: Mr. Phillips, at Leeds. Man he flies into tackles; I miss that from our midfield. McT does sometimes, but Phillips is just so what we need! I'm tired of these 'specialized' players. Let's have a player in the centre of the park that can do it all, please!

A double pivot of Phillips and Locatelli would be a joy to watch. Both are technically good, can spray long balls, both have grit and can fly into tackles.

With the price tag of Rice, I’d rather have that duo. Pogba can be sold too.

leeds would demand a fortune for Phillips if he were to move now. He wouldn’t be a value option.

Locatelli is great, and I'm surprised by Phillips. Both would cost a fortune though, but maybe Fred can go the other way

Disagree on this comparison. We have splashed out on Amad and Hannibal as future prospects. They barely had a first team appearance between them for there clubs. Pellestri played quite a few games, in a tiny league quality wise though. They were all investments for the next 2/3years as having a big impact.

Camavinga has around 80 apperances, 3 caps for arguably the most talented squad in world football and has played in Europe too. He is much further on than the kind of young signings we have made and is just being compared because he is so young. Not saying he is the fnishised article or wont have the nconsistencies youngsters do. But I think its incredible the progress he has already made for his age in that position. I cant think of many players in a long time who have done similar.Of coruse there is the concern of a Renato Sanches happening who had similar experience so young before a big move.

But Camavinga appearance wise is really only a season worth of games behind some of the really highly rated players we have been linked with that are 4-5years older. He is pretty much ready for the next step up to progress his career for me and he is as talented if not more than pretty much all the other names mentioned.

For me already he is a significant upgrade on what we already have. Over the next couple of seasons he is a potential superstar. Different player, but for me this is like signing Bellingham this summer

One can dream :) although I'd rather keep him than McT
The fact you want rid of your best water carrier is a bit surprising to be honest! He's starting over Fabinho in the Brazil squad right now, maybe he's not as bad as you think?

Grass isn't always greener.

Well, that's the thing with him. He's been very good at other places, just not really for United

That's just not true i'm afraid. What he's in the team for he is very good at. Perhaps you just don't recognise or respect the defensive work he does?

In most games, he's mediocre at best. Tell me a period of time when he's been great for more than 4 games

You tell me a period where he hasn't been?

What you're looking for in his performances clearly isn't understanding the role he plays in the side. He covers for Rashford on the left wing and does double the defensive work as a midfielder and left winger.

He presses more than anybody in our team and often scoops up the loose balls, or pressures enough that somebody else gets the interception.

If he was so bad how does he play for Brazil of all people? It's not like they're short on quality.

Alan or Gary?

That's quite optimistic description of Camavinga you wrote. Signing him would be definitely brave attempt in refreshing our midfield. Do you reckon he would step up immediately to Premier League's physicality & tempo ? ...because the chances are he could look bit raw at the beginning, same goes to Hannibal.

I actually like possibility of that deal with one year on his contract and plenty of time, unlike Tchouaméni who still got 3 more years. Camavinga being still a teenager gives Ole plenty of time to make him a PL type player, same goes to Hannibal, no matter how many matches he did play or not.

it was pretty well known that he was going to be sold as they already turned down a contract extension

Rennes have openly admitted that they want him sold if he doesn't sign a contract extension.

Our main problem is convincing him to move from France by the sounds of things. Hopefully Murtough and Fletcher can convince him that our ambitions match his and we're the right club for him to develop as a player.

Come to England, Come to England. You will be the next player..

Imo if we really want him we'll get him. He'll go to a big club this summer.

PSG is packed with midfielders and they actually don't need his type, plus they won't be able to guarantee his necessary game time.

Barca, Real are financially fecked.

Bayern already have Goretzka, Kimmich. I'm a bit worried about Dortmund but we are more attractive than them I think.

Of the PL teams Chelsea already have Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho. City have like 100 midfielders. Liverpool also have plenty.

While us, we're in dire need for a solid all rounded action midfielder to improve our midfield. So far only us is linked to him. He'll get plenty game time here once he could prove he's better than our McT which imo he's already.

Around £40m and about £80-100k a week and the lad is ours imo. He's only 18 yo but in term of maturity and experience he's well worth the money imo.
