E3 2010

The new model 360.

Half of the whole conference was fecking about jigging up and down, he said that the new model will be the same price as the Elite. With the HDD inside, the arcade is probably gone. Lets get into prediction mode here, there is mobo revision for the PS3, it will stay at the same price and will have Move included.

How do they decide the order of the presentations?

I assume they spent the first 10 minutes rushing in the usual CODs, GOWs and whatnot and then proceeding to milk the remaining of the conference with this gimmicky Natal bollocks.

Very poor conference, was there even a 'big anouncement' in the end like they did with FF13 last time?

EDIT: Misunderstood the question.

I made a lightsabre game that uses motion tracking where you deflect blaster shots at Uni ages ago, first Nintendo steals my idea with the Wii and now Microsoft with this Star Wars game. I should be rich.

That the Xbox 360 slim version will cost as much as the elite and is shipping from today.

Surely it's an advantage to go last, because you can adjust your presentation according to what has come before?

I'm talking mainly pricing here.

Or am I being naive here in assuming that the parties are unaware of the content of their competitor's presentations beforehand?

These will have been prepared and organised far in advance, especially pricing.

I don't think that they quite deal with pricing like that, but Sony have some room to manoeuvre in terms of the content of their presentation. I'm quite sure that Move was never going to be shown last year if it wasn't for Microsoft announcing Natal the day before. Hopefully, as always, Sony will have lots of new games to show.

So basically they're chucking in Move for free?

Not quite, RSX is now down to 40nm, Cell is on 45nm, there is a motherboard revision coming, Sony are now at the point where they probably make a profit from the hardware. The PS Eye can't be that expensive to make as can be seen by the prices of EyePet and Eye of Judgement, replacing the DualShock with a move controller and nunchuck can't cost them anything.

I think that Move already has a release date, they've already held a conference and other events specifically for it, so I don't think that it will be a major part of the conference tomorrow, maybe 15 minutes. If anything gimmicky is going to happen tomorrow it's going to be 3D. GT5 will take up some time I would guess.

Isn't that a bullet point for GT5 in any case, head tracking? It's already been done on the PC as you say.

Lets hope the actual driving feel is as good as Forza (though I personally prefer 2 to 3 in that respect)

Yes it has been done in the mid 90's on the PC and I believe there was something on the Genesis too if my memory serves me.

Did you try the time trial? Feels totally different to Prologue.

When it's released as a full game, I'll try and judge. Thing is I own one of the lower class unruly race cars, so I'll beable to judge GT5 against whatever version of Forza is out by then on how close to the actual feel it is.

So far Forza 2 is better than Forza 3 when it comes to realism on my particular car.

I think that Move will be in every box from now on instead of a Dual Shock.

Instead of? No way, not without retrofitting the existing catalogue.

It would have to be alongside. So you're looking at the console, camera, dual shock, move wand and move sub-controller.

Well, with the nunchuck it basically has all of the buttons, it has more. You simply miss an analogue stick, but I would guess that the basic ball tracking is done on the OS SPU in any case.

Another thing that they didn't mention, is the HDD easily swappable out? If not, it's useless.

:wenger: Useless? 250GB is more than enough! I have never needed more than the original 20GB HDD in the original 360's.

Actualy, tell a lie, I have a few times wished there was a few extra gigs but seriously, 250GB is more than enough

I'm pretty sure attempting emulate the missing analogue stick with ball tracking would render a large portion of games unplayable. The lack of a fixed central postion, deadzone and directional limits would be horrible.

Tis a good point, however not everyone uses these things as just gaming machines anymore. It's the future, apparently.
