I wonder how serious we are about him, I was never sold on him when he first came to the seen, after some time in Europe however, he might be another Nani.
What becomes of Valencia then? Obertan? Bebe? Park? Too many wingers

Obertan can screw off, Bebe will do the same or make it as a striker, Park is versatile and will always get games because of his work rate, Valencia as well. It's never a bad thing to add a young talent on the rise like this

Hopefully true, i was dreading the thought we would end up with Ashley Young!!

Would seem that he would replace Giggs in his current role of being a left footer, freekick taker and able to play multiple roles.

Costa cannot play central midfield, but either wing or behind a striker. Maybe with Fletcher and Carrick sitting he could play the role we've had Anderson in at times. But that suggestion is more about versatility than about converting him to play there all the time.

We have absolutely no one who can take even a half decent free kick. So if Costa is a specialist then that's another bonus.

Hargreaves

Right forgot about him. He's great but obviously never fit. Berba used to take some brilliant ones as well at Spurs but he never tries here. Nani/Giggs take some really poor free kicks.

Carrick took a couple of good ones at Spurs too.

Seems that being a decent freekick taker for Spurs isnt considered pedigree

Berbatov scored a few goals at Spurs as well off freekicks, I remember one from that really good game they had v West Ham 4-3 2007

I was being sarcastic mate

things go on that we have no idea about. we may have arranged a deal with shaktar when he moved there. gives him time to get used to europe and work towards securing a permot. shakar get a world class talent make a profit and we get a player with european experience for the same amount gremio wanted in the first place. and we dont need ljajic anymore...

Samba baby, imagine the crazy sex parties those four will have it will be like old times for anderson with ronaldo and nani in 2007-8, hmmm, maybe that is why he had such a good year that season

thats him, and that could be a rep of his to his left.

Who are all those guys in what looks like MUFC suits....because I don't recognize any of them -_-

they could be from the academy, arent alot of the young'uns required/encouraged to wear suits when out and about at the likes of matches? Kinda like its part of their grooming overall

If he was here with his representatives I would imagine it is to talk terms, which could also signal that a price with his club has been agreed.

I'd prefer Sanchez but Costa is not bad at all. Sweet left foot, and certainly can take a decent free kick.

I feel the same way, I'd not be thrilled with this signing but his potential is higher than Young's.

This is a pleasant surprise. Looked very good the few times I've seen him play so if we did get him it is a permanent thing. Being able to take free kicks is a bonus as we are really lacking someone who can take them and we've blown so many good opportunities to score.

Even though I'd much rather see him on the left, meaning Nani on the right to continue his good relationship with Rafael this season... Well either wing there's potential good combinations

For a start :

Costa plays on the left. Evra is great with overlaps, Anderson and Costa speaking the same language might mean Anderson combines well with him when playing left central midfield

Costa plays on the left with Fabio at left back and Anderson left central midfield. 3 Brazilians, 2 left feet and 1 right footer who likes to get forward and have a shot.

Costa plays on the right with Rafael bombing forward into the space a left footer leaves. Again, same language and could perhaps see the best of Rafael attacking

Costa certainly wouldnt be a player I'd have suggested, but we could do a lot, lot worse and he's clearly a talent who would likely fit in with the other players we have. And we've been interested in him before.

How good is this lad anyway?
You not been watching the champions league this year.

Gambit, rejoice !!
I am, I am. Also a very good chant for whenever we're strongly linked with anyone.
Is he even a first teamer with Shaktar?
Yup.

I wonder if that means we were also involved in the Texiera deal.
