Douglas Costa

Ryan can do things on his right when needed, and also attacks infield a lot ...Valencia, despite being fantastically effective at going down the right, gets dizzy and disoriented whenever he drifts more than a yard inside the touchline.

Isn't he the most ludicrously one sided player ever?...We've already got one of them

At one point today Valencia's marker fell over to his left (and Tony's right) leaving the whole left side of the pitch completely free to attack and he still tried to go down the right, and was tackled by a prone man on the floor...Idiot.

Do we really need two of these people?

You're not seriously implying Valencia never cuts inside?

Maybe innocent but in the directors box and with his reps could be a public statement of United's interest and maybe how advance talks might be?

What position does this guy play? He looks a bit too lightweight for AM am I right?

Probably signing him as a body double for Valencia imo.

I guess you didnt really see today's game then. He was poor wide right, when Nani came onto the right and Valencia went to the left he was far more effective.

...At cutting in...Onto his right.

I'm implying, nay saying, in the voice of Charlton Heston, that he's an allergic aversion to doing anything with his left foot.

Valencia were the ones who missed out on Hernandez. Would have been a good replacement for David Villa, no?

I didn't know that.. But Still we cant know if other were interested or not.. Also nobody else signed him probably cause of the price tag.. Which is why a stepping stone club like Shaktar could with a huge sell on fee clause!

At passing and linkup, bringing lots of players into the game without losing the ball. Thats largely what Nani tries to do on the left too, with a few more shots (cutting inside onto his right...) but he usually gives the ball away twice as much as Valencia did in that position today.

With Evra bombing past you, there's not really a need to go on the outside.

Yes but thats exactly my point. Its the fee Gremio were asking for that meant we should steer clear. And other european clubs did the same, its not like with Ljajic where as soon as we pulled out another club in one of the better leagues came in with the same money and bought him saying we'd made a mistake.

Everyone decided it was too much money, except for Shakatar who agreed to the deal with a big sell on clause.

Where the feck has this "cutting inside" stuff come from?...He's one footed, that's the point. Yes he's very good at cutting inside when he's playing on the left, in fact that's pretty much his MO, well done you've gotten me on semantics. Bloody hell, you mention half a negative thing about someone who plays for us and Pogue & Ekeke smell it from 400 paces like gay sharks in a Brighton bathhouse.

See, this is why no one likes the football forums.

Whats wrong with having 1 really good foot?

And sorry, Giggs is one of those even if now and again he manages with his right foot. Same with Robben, same with Costa.

Nothing. Apart from it being clearly the most evil and despicable thing in the entire world. I'll try and make sure I never say anything blase ever again.

Jesus tittyfecking Christ.

Apologies if pointing this out makes the football forums simply unbearable for you.

I'm now going to refuse to accept either of these apologies.

He's going to cost a massive fee if we are ever going to buy him

Can we just groom Obertan and Bebe good and proper first? Don't need another project in the making in this Douglas Costa

It's not your money mate i wouldn't worry too much. Bebe and Obertan aren't going to be world beaters by the looks of it. Costa who knows? but he has a left foot and is a very good dribbler.

So we presume that we won't be signing Messi this year.;)

Is he in this shot? Top left?

Would seem that he would replace Giggs in his current role of being a left footer, freekick taker and able to play multiple roles.

Costa cannot play central midfield, but either wing or behind a striker. Maybe with Fletcher and Carrick sitting he could play the role we've had Anderson in at times. But that suggestion is more about versatility than about converting him to play there all the time.

Who are all those guys in what looks like MUFC suits....because I don't recognize any of them -_-

Costa 7.. Does have a good ring to it.. But I am afraid we might be faced yet again by the same problem.. IMO He prefers to play on the right as do 2/3 of our other established wingers (Valencia and Nani)

Agreed, but at this point I think any option that means more Nani on the right would be the right sort of way to go.

Also he's played more on the left than Nani did before we signed him, so

To be fair, I remember he made three passes and one shot with his left foot last season.

Seriously, I think those were the only four times he touched the ball with his left foot. I have never seen a player so ridiculously one footed. But despite that he's still extremely effective, which is obviously the main thing.

I wonder how serious we are about him, I was never sold on him when he first came to the seen, after some time in Europe however, he might be another Nani.
What becomes of Valencia then? Obertan? Bebe? Park? Too many wingers

SO this certainly has to be an indication that we are signing him

I can remember 2 crosses with his left foot, from the right.
