Douglas Costa

According to the Telegraph we opened discussions with him as a possible alternative before we decided to go all out for Di Maria.

If we are going 4-3-3 proper could be a good rotation option Cut price right now.

No point. Rather spend that money on a CM. Otherwise how we going to fit Mata, Di Maria, Januzaj, Kagawa, Young, Valencia and Lingard

This. We don't need any more wingers this season. Spend what ever we can on getting in a midfielder.

Sell Young and Valencia. (Keep Valencia for RB backup if you want)

Zaha and Douglas Costa/Memphis Depay would be more effective 4-3-3 options.

Young is on huge wages. He aint going anywhere. Valencia signed a new contract not two months ago. Giggs or someone on the staff rates him for his work rate.

Zaha has done nothing to suggest he's a better option than Young, never mind Valencia. He didn't stand out at Cardiff when he had the chance. There's no way we should be selling players for his benefit.

He is young and has upside plus showed enough form and potential in the Championship and underage groups hence why we bought him (Cardiff loan was bad but it was tough circumstances for his type of player tbf). Young has never been more than a pretty good midtable player who has peaked and declined now and Valencia has declined now as well after his very good top spell for us.

I don't want Zaha to be first choice either. But he can be 4th/5th choice in a 4-3-3. Doesn't even need to be either if we have enough other options with 1 more signing and we can loan him out.

If we want to sell him i can see a bunch of mid table clubs interested. We can pay him part of the transfer fee to offset the wage loss.

Valencia signed a new contract probably because we were switching to 3-5-2. He certainly doesn't fit as a forward wide player in a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 anymore. For a wingback role in this formation he is pretty decent.

I don't think we have enough money to get another winger in as well as Di Maria, not when we need a midfielder as well.

I'm not Youngs biggest fan like, don't get me wrong, but he's shown a lot more than Zaha has. I'd rather see Zaha get a loan, I don't think he's ready to step up.

To be fair to Zaha, I think Fergie was still miffed about the Ramsey transfer where he picked Arsenal over United and Fergie didn't want that to happen again. Honestly, Ramsey wasn't anything special for his first couple of seasons for Arsenal. It's only last season he really found his feet and surprised everyone with his form. It seems he is picking up where he left off last season too. But there is nothing to suggest Zaha couldn't do the same, he is only very young. That's why a loan is probably better than selling him.

Douglas Costa would come cut price from Ukraine given the situation. Pretty sure with these outgoings we can afford it. We cannot afford a big transfer maybe but this much we can especially if we sell to make room.

I'd keep Young as a wingback in 3-5-2 but he hasn't shown anything at United to be a effective option in a 4-3-3 and he isn't gonna improve drastically in that role. Would be bit of a dead end option as a squad player as well at that age.

Sorry for bumping this, but Douglas Costa has to be one of the most underrated players in the world right now.

I honestly have never seen him have a poor game.. yesterday in his cameo against Turkey he was dribbling past players for fun it seemed like. I wonder if he can get out of Ukraine and play in a big league soon enough.. Obviously not for United since he'd be another attacking leftie

Yeah hes been pretty good for a while tbf

Always looked good when I've seen him, which admittedly is only in the CL. I see he got his first cap for Brazil. Anyone watch him regularly? He's at Shakthar 4 years now, surely he will get a bigger move at some stage.

I thought he had turned the corner in Ukraine and was doing well, but I think someone mentioned inconsistancy or something as the reason a bigger club havent come in for him

We should have signed him from Hermione in my opinion instead of messing them around. Think we could have turned him into a really good player.

Whilst he may be left footed he seems to operate best from the right and has a cracking shot on him. May still be worth a punt but I haven't seen him for a while. Considering we were interested in the summer then he has to be an option if we want another winger.

I think all that time spent on Harry Potter forums on your phone has messed with your auto correct.

The reason actually is because Shakhtar almost never sells, they are filthy rich. They would ask for more than 50m I'm sure

You have to wait for his contract to be up so he can go for Willian money.. He would be perfect for a team Tottenham-sized

Was my first real muppet saga and I wish we had signed him then. He is one of the better dribblers and attacking wide men in Europe really. He has come on very well.

Probably on google something like "hermione naked" or the like :smirk:
