Manchester United are expected to post scouts to watch Douglas Costa in action against Arsenal later this month.

The Daily Mail says Shakhtar Donetsk's brilliant Brazilian Douglas Costa should recover from a thigh injury to join Eduardo da Silva's return to Arsenal in the Champions League.

Midfielder Costa has been on Manchester United's radar since coming through the ranks at Gremio and he has excelled for the Ukrainian champions this season.

The 20-year-old was taken off on stretcher with a suspected thigh tear during Shakhtar's 2-0 win against Dynamo Kiev on Sunday, but scans show it was just a strain.

Boss Mircea Lucescu expects to have Costa back in time for the Champions League match at the Emirates Stadium on October 19, when United could take the opportunity of having another look at the Brazil Under 20 international.

Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in Shakhtar Donetsk midfield pair Douglas Costa and Willian as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to add more youthful talent to his Old Trafford squad. The Ukrainian side are running away with the domestic title and both Brazilian youngsters have impressed Ferguson who will consider a swoop for the pair in the summer.

22 year old Willian is an adaptable attack minded midfielder who who is in his fourth season at Shakhtar and is on the fringes of the senior Brazilian international set up whereas the more well known playmaker Douglas Costa only moved to Donetsk in January but has been strongly linked with a move to many of Europe’s elite including the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Sir Alex Ferguson already has a number of Brazilian youngsters at the club in the form of Rafael, Fabio, Anderson and now the Man United boss is taking a closer look at a promising pair of players who he feels have a great deal of potential.

The pair are thought to be valued at a combined worth of around £20-24m and it appears that out of the two Ferguson would most like to capture is Douglas Costa who has impressed greatly since his move to Ukraine from Gremio.

Willian looks solid from what I've seen too, we won't spend £26m on both though, we won't buy either in fact.

And that's what puzzles me.The club were not willing to pay 6 mil to take a chance on him but were quite happy to spend 7 mil on Bepe

Because Gremio definitely did not offer him for 6 million. I know people love to hate Gill but if we really wanted him, six million nothing for us and would have easily negotiated. Truth of the matter is, they want 20 MIL and we told them to take a hike. Which they did and then they found Shaktar who don't have 20 mil to dish just liek that.

He looked good last night! Those who think Hamsik is the only one out there for us just cause the papers keep talking about him should start changing their tune soon!!
 
Good performance although Roma where absolute rubbish in the first half. Took his goal nice and his assist was an absolute gift from Riise. Can't see us going near him though to be honest
 
We didn't go after Bebe instead of him, we inquired about him, Gremio wanted 18 million from us and wouldn't allow him to come over and have a training session, he then ended sidelined with an injury that was bothering him for a while. Donetsk came in and got him and Texiera at a low cost with huge sell on clauses. Bebe was a last minute thing.
 
Will be interesting to see which tabloids checks out the caf today and then prints off a story in the next day or two or on Sunday claiming we have a deal set in place to land Costa in the summer! Sadly so many caftards will believe it and then commit suicide when they find out it was all just to sell papers! My bet is `the daily star` or `the Sun`

True, and they've done really well in CL so far. It's not impossible that they will make semi finals if they are draw against one of the smaller sides in the next round, and then anything could happen. They struggled to make last 16 on numerous occasions but when they've finally done, they impressed in that first leg, didn't they?

Well Costa is the only leftie of the 3 but every time I've seen him play he's been on the right so he can cut in and shoot with his stronger foot. Hazard on the other hand is right footed but plays on the left, much like Ronaldinho.
