I have been saying it for a long time, sign him PLEASE AF he fits in with the youth policy I reckon will come good

Said before that he feels right for United and nice to see he's still thinking about the club.

has he been injured? Or are they just bedding him in? Or wait didn't their season just start recently?

Why does everyone want him here, only because of the youtube clips?
There is a reason why Shakthar got him for €6 million only, he has been reported to have a shit attitude towards training(Missing training due to Parties etc). People just want him because he has an impressive youtube video.

He maybe a talented lad but surely people are over-rating him without actually watching him play

He improved his training, Shakhtar got him for 6 million because they agreed a really good sell on fees.

I think you're getting the wrong idea, who is over-rating him?

Sign him up, I think the chances are good if both parties are still looking at each other

We don't need the "new Ronaldinho" or "new Zidane" it is time we went for the real deal, players that are fully established and would make an immediate difference.

COSTA STILL WANTS OLD TRAFFORD MOVE | News Of The World

Obviously his buyout clause is still too high and we wont be buying him, but it's nice to see a player wanting to come here rather than the standard Real or Barca dream.

The last player we signed who really really wanted to come to United was Zoran Tosic. That hasnt gone too well.

Costa is talented without doubt, but he has lots of work to do to become good enough. He's just a step up from Obertan.

Well you are both right and wrong. I mean how many players openly come out and say they want to play for Manchester United - only a handful, which still surprises me. I agree with you about his attitude problem. Tim Vickery was talking about this lad two weeks ago and he said the same thing. He said Costa was fighting with the coaches at his former club, Gremio and he would get himself sent off needlessly in matches.

But on the other hand, not a lot of people if not any get away by doing those things he did at his former club at Man Utd. I mean we all know who Alex Ferguson is and what he does and there was that article last month when he said he STILL has his players on a leash. So I think Fergie can still reform that lad and make a better person and of course a better player. I have seen a couple of Shaktar games of late and I must say that that kid has some talent. He has pace, I think he can play on both wings, is a left footer, can cross well and can shoot. He could be a real asset to our team if we get him.

He's only saying he wants to play for us because he's come to terms with the fact that Donetsk is an utterly shit city. Anyone who's been there knows what i'm talking about.

I think even before he went there, he said he wanted to play for us. As soon as we showed interest in him when he was in Brazil, he was fixed on playing for Man United.

Naturally, as we're one of the biggest clubs in the world - but moving to a shitty industrial city that's still mildly stuck in the Cold War in a country with a shit league, might've contributed to his comments.

I didnt realize he moved to the LA Galaxy

feck sake - how did I miss this. Costa signed for Shaktar - fecking hell & only for £6m. We must be fecking skint if we wouldnt spend that much on a very promising young player. There's no chance of buying him now, £18m buy-out clause is a fecking joke. This better not come back to haunt us!

looks kinda like a left footed version of valencia with more step overs

He looks to have settled quite well at Shaktar, although he apparently hasn't started many games. Most of those goals have come from the substitutes bench, unless Wikipedia is some way behind in updating.

The problem with young players is you can never be sure how they will develop, particularly if they haven't played one or two seasons at first team level. If you buy a player at 18-20 years of age, you really need to be able to offer them a fair amount of first team football.

I'm the same as everyone else, in that, you want your club to sign as many exciting young players as they can. But you can't sign them all, obviously, so I can see the logic behind our caution. Unless you can sign them for very little, it's better to wait to see how they develop.

If there are even 2 or 3 young attacking midfielders in your squad, that naturally limits what you can do in the future, to a certain extent. You know that they are talented, but you don't trust them in too many Premier League or European games. You are also scouting other talented young attacking players, but none of them stand out as having much greater potential than the ones that you have already signed.

At 19 years of age, it isn't always obvious which players are going to become the real superstars. Even spending £6-10 million on a player means that you can't just use a scattergun approach — buy lots and see which ones turn out well.

At the moment he's at a good club, because he is getting games, and it means that we can keep an eye on him. We aren't desperate for young attacking players, so we can bide our time and try to pick the right ones either when needed, or if looks like other clubs are about to make a move.

You only have to look through the transfer forum here to see that there are always lots of young players that a small group of caftards will believe are going to be amoung the best players in the world. But it is almost certainly the case that none of us have done what would be required to really test our theories. I've spent several hundred million on players in my head just in the last week, alone, for example. That's why I'm not running a football club.

Would seem to be doing a lot more than he did at Gremio from the vid. A lot of the clips have him on the right wing, is he playing a Robben/Messi role? His first goal on the video is something they do often.

It will, he's gonna be a star.

That last goal was stunning, dont think it was a mishit either as no one was there to cross it to

My gut instinct at the time told me that he was the one for United. But for whatever reason the club did not want to take a risk on him.If he keeps his head down he will go on to be a star but unfortunately in Spain.

He was linked to us for £20 million after scoring 1 goal on his debut and then doing precisely nothing for Gremio.

They wanted rid of him and only got £6 million for him, from Shakatar. That tells how far along he was in his development and how interested the top clubs were.

It would seem from a youtube video that he's already done more in 6 months at Shakatar than he did at Gremio, which frankly wouldnt be hard. Perhaps the move there has forced him to mature and develop better. And maybe now or in another season he could be a player top clubs look at.

But clearly we werent the only ones unconvinced when he was at Gremio else he'd have gone for a lot more than £6 million and to a much better club than Shakatar.

I think our coaching staff probably thought they had enough on their hands getting the best out of one young, mercurial Brazilian who used to play at Gremio, without taking on another.

Aye, while it can be useful to have a compatriot at the club, it can also be a distraction in terms of off-the-field activities.

From what I've heard of both lads, they need as little distraction as possible.

Not entirley right we'd been watching him, we asked if he could come over for a trial for a few weeks as we were interested in purchasing him for 18 - 20 mil, Gremio turned us down saying he didn't need a trial so we told them to do one. He shortly afterwards struggled with an injury, Shakhtar came in and got him with a hell of a sell on clause that means they will make their money again which is why Shakhtar got him for such a low fee.

Hi!

I'm Shakhtar and Utd fan, someone can also know my nick, as FC United fan.

We (Shakhtar) got a very hard title run this season (we managed to win back 7 points from Dinamo Kiev and finish with +6 points (which is very hard in Ukraine, where Dinamo and Shakhtar win in 90% of games). In second half of the season we lost only 2 points! Because of such hard title run Luchesku tried to use mostly tested fighters. Costa only came from the bench and Teixeira didn't play at all (got injured in winter and missed pre-season).

But Costa helped us A LOT! He scored 1 very important winning goal (see this vid), made some assists and scored several fantastic goals!!!

He was really awesome, clearly the best Shakhtar player this year, even better, then our best brazilians. In 5 months he got 4 internal (Shakhtar) player of the month awards, 4 goal of the month, will take now goal of the year and finished 2nd best in Player of the year award (just 15 voices behind skipper Srna)!

And all these he got after playing 30-40 minutes every game (watch his stats here - mostly subs-on)!

He has magic left foot! Luchesku often used him on right wing, because Costa liked to move to center and shoot from his left foot!

His free-kicks are also asesome (somebody already posted here video, made by me). I made this video, because I'm really giddy about this player. He's ace! And only 6 millions! We paid 19 for Willian, and it took 2 years for him to become really great player, but Costa looks 10 times better. And he's only 19 years old!

As Utd fan I really want to see him in United in future. His pace, speed, skills, shot - he has all to become a super-star in future. I wonder, why Utd didn't buy him in winter But Shakhtar did, which is very well for Donetsk team.

Unfortunattly now, when he's in Donetsk, Man Utd fans can forget about him in United, I think With our current "debt" politics of buying sh*t like Owen, AF will never buy young player for 25-30 millions. And believe me, I know Shakhtar and Ahmetov. Now Costa's price is such. And it'll rise after Costa's Champions League debut.

If you have any questions - ask. Here in Ukraine all are impressed with this guy!
