Duplicate post.
The Cafe dilemma. No players is ever better than the injured or not playing one.
Donny becomes Xavi when injured
What a brain dead post. Literally nobody is saying that. The Cafe dilemma. No players is ever better than the injured or not playing one.

First he was shit training, now he needs to be Xavi to get into the team instead of just being better than McTominay's current form. What a brain dead post. Literally nobody is saying that.
Not happening.Hired a new agent
I see him going out on loan at ajax with most of the wage paid by United (like happened for sanchez, smalling, lingard)

2-0 up with 20 odd minutes to go last night is an opportune moment for Ole to bring off Fred (who was on a yellow) and give Donny some minutes. Really disappointed Ole didn’t.
Exactly. The only thing I like about 352 setup is it shifts the weight of defending to back 3 meaning it's a breather for midfielders (which is a good thing thing because our midfielders are not good at defending). As a consequence, both McTominay and Fred were allowed to play more attacking B2B role - it would've suited VdB.He can play a lot more in this 352 because the defensive cover is not as demanding
Fred's only replacement in the club is Matic.Exactly. Now Fred had a poor game, got a yellow, looked tired and he's very likely to start in 3 days vs Atalanta.
We were cruising with 2/3 goals cushion and van de Beek still didn't get a sniff.
I can understand he's not useful for Ole when we're chasing a score, but after yesterday game I can't imagine any scenario Donny would be picked even for 30'.
I think he's done at this club / under this manager.
The only reason I would've picked current Fred ahead of van de Beek is because I have doubts about Donny fitness while Fred can run all day (what is very important in our standard 424 setup). Other than that, van de Beek can play Fred role no worse than him.Fred's only replacement in the club is Matic.
vDB either plays in Fernandes or McTominay's position, and his competitions are Pogba and Lingard.
vDB *apparently* cannot play in the role where Fred is playing because it is a lot deeper.

And going back to my initial point, in 352 both McTominay and Fred were allowed to be more attacking and play higher up (Fred definitely didn't play DM like in some games this season), so Donny would've been my choice for that position.
Yesterday Fred was very advanced in some situations and ruined a move with bad pass or miscontrol, something I trust Donny would've done much better.
I really wouldn't bother what is written in those pages, Donny was played majority of last season in AM position, often in front of Pogba, and it's clear now he's much more effective in midfield rather than attacking position. If you look here (https://www.transfermarkt.com/donny.../liga/0/wettbewerb//pos/0/trainer_id/0/plus/1), or ask anyhow who watches the Eredivise, vDB has not played in Fred's role before.
Fred is listed here as a DM (https://www.transfermarkt.com/fred/leistungsdaten/spieler/191614/saison/2021/plus/1#gesamt), and from our eyes, Fred sits much deeper.
vDB will have a hard time replacing Fred because this is not the position that he specializes in.

Genuine question. Do you think we'll get a new manager soon regardless of results with Ole?He should hold on and wait for the new manager
There is no evidence now suggesting now that vDB can play in DM. It is more like you want him to play there over Fred, but evidence suggests the contrary in which vDB specializes in an AM or a Box-to-Box midfielder, and he is in direct competition with Lingard, McT, Pogba, and Fernandes.I really wouldn't bother what is written in those pages, Donny was played majority of last season in AM position, often in front of Pogba, and it's clear now he's much more effective in midfield rather than attacking position.
Anyway, Fred might be labeled as DM but he's a really, really bad one. And I like him, I think he's very useful in that roaming role, just totally useless when asked to play disciplined last midfielder role. It doesn't suit him at all and that's Ole mistake, not Fred.
Still, I think pure DM doesn't exist in 352 and that's why I will advocate for using van de Beek in Fred role, whatever we call it.
Fred's a regista? There is no evidence now suggesting now that vDB can play in DM. Fred's only direct competition is Matic, and sometimes Pogba. And since Matic does not have the stamina to play every game and Pogba is preferred for attacking roles, that leaves Fred the only choice most of the team.
If you watch this video, Fred plays an important role as a DM, because Fred is able to pass a long ball out of pressure. Fred is not a traditional DM, but he is more of a Regista in DM. However, the issue is that Fred is not defensively strong enough, and the poor coaching and tactical set-up always have him lose the ball because his teammates cannot be found easily, as analyzed by this guy here.
So the DM does matter still as there is a need to pass the long ball out of pressure, and if you are talking about the Regista role, it will be Pogba or Matic who are in contention with Fred for the position. Again, these positions are not where vDB specialized all the way from Ajax.
He's leaving in January
He won’t be match fitWouldn’t blame him.
Surely gets a start against Atalanta if we play the 352?
YepGenuine question. Do you think we'll get a new manager soon regardless of results with Ole?
Could happen. He hasn’t had many chances but he never did anything to justify more minutes. It seems crazy to think he would be worse than Fred or McT but in reality McFred are decent players who get through a lot of work, they’re just not good enough for us. DVB also is decent, has good technique and stands out in a worse league but none of that makes him good enough for us. I doubt he will make it here under any manager but especially not under Ole.Hired a new agent

Normally yes, but in this particular game it was actually McTominay who was sitting deeper while Fred was pushing up into a more box-to-box role.Fred's only replacement in the club is Matic.

If they are so useless, then it's high time we got rid of the manager who wasted a cool 100m on them.I can't wait for him to leave purely for the fact people can then shut up about him for 5 mins.
Has he been given a fair crack compared to others? Possibly not. However he's not been overly impressive when he has played for me. Still only has 1 goal for the club too which isn't great as he has had enough time on the pitch to get more than that for sure.
Seem like every week that goes by where he doesn't play he becomes better and better in the eyes of our fans.
Similar thing happening with Sancho now. People crying for him to play but if it's a choice of changing formation and starting Cavani over Sancho then I'd choose that every day of the week. Cavani is on another level to Sancho as a footballer. This isn't the German league where teams have their pants pulled down regularly.

I thought Ole's strength was supposed to be squad building and yet we still have to see Lingard on the pitch.
