Donkai Havertz | Arsenal Watch

One of the most misunderstood and underrated players in the league. For me he is nailed on to be in our starting 11, and if your a rival fan and playing Arsenal, and Havertz is injured or suspended, then its good for you.

His movement, link up play, hold up play, aerial threat, defensive work from the front, and now he is going under the rader as a prolific player. He is already on 6 goals in all competitions. I think 20 in all competitions is low hanging fruit, should be looking to get 25 and even push 30. Plus he is durable and resistant to injury.

He’s brilliant. I was banging the drum for him all last season and he’s even better this season.

That 4-4-2 you played yesterday was able to switch between that and a 4-3-3 seamlessly. He played as an advanced 8 at times, and a 10 or 9.

The fluidity that he’s brought in with Odegaard out has been exceptional. He’s such an intelligent player.

Ah so scoring in the CL against elite teams doesn't count towards you being considered a better striker?
You don’t get it, do you? The post you quoted of mine was in reply to the post of other poster who said “he’s a top 3 CB in the LEAGUE”.

13 goals in the last 21 games. Hope it continues. Is vital to how we play

He's right, why shouldn't international performances be considered when ranking the best strikers in the league? If I score 15 goals in the league and 0 in the UCL WHILE you score 13 IN THE LEAGUE but 20 in the UCL, most would have you as the better striker. People don't have different rankings for different competitions.

You’d be surprised what viewpoints people are prepared to adopt in order to defend a position.

He's a decent player, if a bit of an enigma positionally. I think his motivation suffered after the CL win and chaos around us. Seems to be coming back to more his Bayer level at Arsenal. Good for him.

Just saw that I capslocked a few words, sounded more aggressive than intended  but yeah

Such an average player. We'll never win the league if we don't upgrade our front line.

Mad how Arsenal spent so much on midfielders and defenders yet have this guy and Martinelli starting each week.

He’s not done too badly this season tbf. His overall stats look decent but the performances have been very hot and cold, which is what he was like at Chelsea too.

Hes got 5 PL goals and one of those is away from home, awful awful player.

If Arsenal didn't have Saka they'd be relying on someone like Havertz to step up in terms of contributions and I simply don't think he has the minerals to do so.

What do you think @GoonerBear ?

Eh....how do you post Homer Simpson backing into a hedge gif?

He is what he is i suppose, i'd need to check back my old posts but i dont think ive ever claimed him to be the definitive no 9 we hang our hat on, we defo still need that aggressive hungry for goals gun man, that's for sure.

What i will say in his defence is i dont think Arteta has helped him, by moving him around the pitch again it's like he's unlearning the things that made him start to look good as a striker.

He's a good squad player to have, but not when your other striker is Gabi Jesus who isn't that gunman either.

However, no matter how you look at it, we've spent £65M & £250K a week for a left 8 and moved him up front, and we've solved neither of those issues, so in that context it's not great.

I always like to come on here for a good laugh. I like being proven right on this player time and time again.

It's weird they people would be blaming him for Arsenal's lack of goals. His goals are pretty much on par with his xG, which means he isn't regularly missing chances. It's quite clear the issue with Arsenal is a complete lack of playmakers in the team outside of Odegaard. Arteta's midfield selection is regularly disgraceful. He's sometimes been playing with 3 DMs, how do you expect any striker to score when there are no chances being created for him?

I think it's more the fact that people don't think he's capable of going the extra mile like top class forwards or midfielders can.
